Anyone have a build planned yet? These builds will be hard to get done with the parts as scarce as they are. Anyone know any other barrel makers that make barrels to work with DPMS uppers? I am excited to get this lower in my hands and start the build.

My IRA Armalite will be replacing my other Armalite for now and plan a 300wsm build later when the matching uppers are available.

I'm debating how I want to build it. Pretty sure I'm going to build a 18" lightweight (at least for a 7.62) to complement my 22" JP LRP-07.

Lower:

Geissele DMR trigger (might go with JP if I decide to keep it on my LRP)

Undecided upper, DPMS style, preferably side-charging (wish I could get a JP left side charging but can't)

Glass: undecided. ACOG probably.

Help me decide what barrel to get. Right now I'm considering the following:

Rock Creek 5R 18"
ABS wrapping on Rock Creek?
JP 18" (I have a JP heat sink on my LRP, it does seem to stay cooler than my buddy's DPMS SASS, but it's a heavier profile)

I'm looking for lightweight, but will be shooting the rifle a lot and so want something that doesn't have much thermal POI drift. Planning on running supressed a lot, I can deal with the 18" + can and don't want to go down to 16" necessarily.

What other barrels should I look at? Is ABS carbon fiber wrapping worth the $ and would it be too fragile? I have a carbon-tensioned 10/22 and love it. Haven't beat it up, so don't know about durability.

I'm thinking I might get some project Leonidas 12.5" SBR goodness! Throw on a can, and that would be a fun package.

Have not decided on handgaurd or bipod.

I am kind of stuck. I have the A4 upper comming. I talked to Iron Ridge and they said they were about 9 months out on their uppers. I Might use the A4 for a 16" build on the other lower and wait for the Iron ridge uppers for the long gun.

I am going to talk to Iron Ridge about their coating for my other parts.

This is going to be a gun, that I will eventually put together at one point. I am just getting my ban on right now.

When were we/are we suppose to send payment? I'm on the list for the group buy, but have not heard anything back. Have all you guys paid????

I believe they are collecting payment for the AR-10 style lowers. I have not been contacted yet, but I am waiting for the DPMS style lowers. Also they said they were emailing and calling people for the payment/FFL's.

I sent payment for a DPMS style lower.

Damn so they are already taking payment on DPMS lowers...I hope I get contacted soon but I am at the end of the list.

I just got my DPMS LR308 AP4. I added a Nikon 3-9X40MM Prostaff scope.

What Harris bi-pod should I get? Also, I have been reading posts about triggers. Is this something I should invest in now or later and what trigger should I get?

I talked to Dave on Friday 2/06/09 and they have been swamped with orders. I am fairly high on the list for Armalites, and he said it would be about 2-3 weeks.

He also said they were about 9 months out on uppers.

I am thinking about getting one too, but I will wait for the demand to get back to normal first...

It's basically all together already, I'll be swapping all of the parts from my current DPMS lower into the IRA lower when it arrives. At that point the barrel, LPK and BCG will be the only original parts left of this rifle.

I sent my uppers in to them early this week. I talked to Dave on Thursday 2/19/09 and he said my uppers and lowers should be coated and ready to ship either Friday 2/20/09 or Monday 2/23. I will post some pictures as soon as I recieve them.

Wow quick turn around on that! Can't wait for some pics...

Got my ship confirmation today. Should recieve in a day or two.

I got the call yesterday. I am gonna head over tomorrow and pick mine up.

Got my Iron Ridge Arms lowers in today. I sent my uppers in to be coated to match. I only have pictures of the green one tonight, but if anyone wants me to post pictures of the black setup in the next day or two let me know.







Now I have to take some time and start putting the parts together.
