So I need/want a ghillie suit. I want to learn how to make one but don't think I have the time or patience to make it from scratch scratch. I would buy one but I'm bigger than average and don't trust that one would fit correctly without trying it on.

I seen these kits and wonder what the opinion is on them? I have old BDU's that I know fit me and could use them if these kits were decent.

using that kit would be the same process as making one yourself. its going to be tedious, mind numbingly boring work but its not hard. They only time you would save with that is the time it takes to cut and dye the jute or twine.

99% of the store bought ghilles suck anyways, they look like a sheep dog [way way too much string] and wnt match your specific enviornment.

i use ghilles to hunt yote and fox [ laugh if you want it has brought my sucess rate way up, ive even had luck w/o using cover scent

I've been getting alot more calls for base suits and ghillie kits so it has brought me to point of making my own suits from raw materials to make a suit that is setup for a ghillie.

To build yourself a good suit that will last you a long time theres a few things that you will need to do in the prep work.I like to split the inseams on the pants an sleaves of the top to sew down the canvas or codura skids then sew on the netting or 550 cord and reverse the suit inside out and sew up the inseams. Most everything you will need can be bought at walmart or any fabric store, burlap that you can strip for the jute, canvas, yoga mat for knee an elbow pads and glues if you want to glue instead of sewing. The only glue I recommend is Amazing Goop and I have tested alot of glues and once it sticks it stays.

You will spend alot of time building a suit so why not use the best material you can find so the suit will last for years, and your base suit is the most important part of the build.
