Thinking of using a set of the alloy Badger Max 50 rings on a 300 RUM that will be used for hunting. Thinking of these cause I'll be scoping the rifle with a S&B Zenith 3-12x50 scope that is pretty heavy.
I'm thinking with the recoil of the 300 RUM and weight of the scope, these rings would be the ticket. You guys think its overkill??

Nothing is overkill. The scope will stay put, they are quality, and they look good. I say go for it.

Ok I'll say it...overkill. You don't see many (make than any)ring failures or scope slippage in the current 4 screw tactical rings when torqued properly.
Remember what that massive ring is clamping, an aluminum tube with lots of leverage to break itself in a fall. If you break ring, chances are the scope that was riding in them is trash.

I'm looking at the alloy models - they are pretty light.
You guys have pics of your Max 50 rings??
