Sniper's Hide Interactive Video Review - Predator Custom Shop Omega II
A few month ago Jim Ruiz from Predator Custom Shop sent me one of their Omega II 300WM Special Purpose Rifles for T&E. It was my pleasure to be able to take the time and really put this rifle through it paces, as well as put it in the hands of some guys that are also intimately familiar with the 300WM platform and I have to say the rifle didn't disappoint.
The specs of the rifle as tested are:
OMEGA II
Remington long-action (s/nG6747046), blue-printed and trued, lugs lapped to within 80% contact. Sako style extractor is optional Custom oversized bolt knob 28" Schneider 1-8 twist 5P (polygonal) M40 barrel, Rock Creek 1-8 AMU barrel used for customers wanting conventional rifling Match chambered in-house with custom reamer that we designed specifically for the 240 gr SMK bullet Custom prototype indexable muzzlebrake, custom thread protector with wrench for NRA "F" class compliance Oversized, surface-ground recoil lug Factory trigger tuned to 2.75 lbs. Action drilled and tapped for 8-40 hardware Nightforce 20 moa 1 pc base Armor Black "RHINOHIDE" ceramic coating on all metal McRee Precision modular stock system featuring our Coyote Tan "RHINOHIDE" ceramic coating A2 pistol grip with our exclusive "Nasty-Grip" grip texture Versa-Pod Battle Pack bi-pod system
OMEGA II ammunition specifications
Winchester brass Federal GM215M primers 240 gr. Sierra MatchKing (bc .711) 76.5 H1000 powder loaded to maximum magazine length 2,800 fps measured 18 ft. from muzzle, 80 degrees Farhenheit, 86% relative humidity, 1,078 elevation.
Here is my video review of the Omega II as tested down at RIfles Only
Conclusions:
Test the Omega II was really simple. The rifle is easy to shoot, as you can see in the video, the brake was very effective keeping the rifle on target and the 500 yard accuracy was first rate with both the custom load provided and with the Factory Mk 248 MOD 0. The proof was definitely in the shooting. I can highly recommend this rifle from Jim and the guys at Predator Custom Shop. The Omega II was a first rate rifle.
Special Offer to Sniper's Hide Members
Speaking with Jim after the testing was over, he offered this rifle to be made available for purchase for a great price for any SH Members. The rifle can be bought for $2500. This is well worth the price and I would have to say if you are interested in a 300WM this is definitely one to buy. Contact Jim for more details.

LL, Good Review!!! How would you compare that stock to the AI for a R700? As far as Comfort, Feel, Weight. Just over all....

to be 100% honest, I prefer the AICS stock... its a personal choice and nothing about function, merely feel.

It's not 100 yards... and I am not testing me, I am doing something else, as well I shot two separate groups...
I am only speaking to the accuracy of the rifle, not me, and it was at 500 yards, a big difference than 100 yards.

Besides, half you cry babies don't even understand the group shot rules so we only ban the blatant violators... who ignore what we say.
Not to mention in the video I have a small window by which to get the information out.
So if you want to continue to push "my' rules in my face, I will happily remove your account.

There is no, "group posted" on its own. This is completely different.

It was my first time posting on this site, and when I signed on I didn't see any rules about 3 shot groups. I followed this site off and on for years and I guess when I decided to join up I didn't realize there was a 3 shot group rule as i've seen hundreds of 3 shot groups posted up over the years. I guess I just joined up at the wrong time and didn't catch the new rules. I was just giving out a friendly review of my gun, I'm not here to push rules into anyones face, as I never made them. Just asking questions, not trying to be a crybaby or offend anyone.

Huntinaz, I have no idea but with the long barrel it would be heavy for a hunting rifle, the barrel is long so the weight is there. heavier than I would recommend.
Action, you're pushing my buttons now and don't know to leave well enough alone, you're about to get another vacation, this one permanent

just to clarify, i just got an e-mail back from JIM....that $2500 is for the test rifle only. not for the purchase of a new rifle.

I thought i was pretty clear it was the test rifle... I said, "this rifle" and that it was being "made available" for purchase.

Jim has built 2 300 win mag's for me. One for me and one for my father and they are hands down the most acurate rifles we have ever owned. He is building 2 AR10's for dad and I as we speak and I know they will be just as good.
Looks like a great rifle, and good shooting Frank. -Ryan

The Versa pod is a solid bipod and like them fine. My only complaint as stated in the video is the heavy handstop attachment point. When you consider how light the Atlas is, the Versa Pod is easily 3x heavier especially with the Handstop.
Function wise it works well. I like the flex to load the bipod and feel it does a better job of helping to control the recoil than the Harris.

I have known these guys for a while and have seen their work. I have known (Bob Howard) one of their gunsmiths for 12 to 15 years. They're a good bunch of guys to work with. I cannot say enough good words about the quality of their work.

I was able to go by the shop about 2 weeks ago, passing through Knoxville, and meet Jim, he is a awesome guy! After talking with him for about an hour and checking out the shop, it wasn't hard to figure out he was top notch! The Omega II from the test was there, about to be boxed and shipped out to a customer. I was able to check it out, this thing is a beast! It was almost like going to the titty club! I ended up leaving my Rem 700L action with him to build me this same rifle. I can't wait to get my hands on it! This will be the rifle I make my first 1000yd shot with.
