My new build is almost done. It is a Shilen savage pre-fit in 6.5x55 using there reamer. I know the swede has a long throat, so will I have trouble getting to the lands with a 142 SMK or similiar?

What's the specs on "their" reamer?

I would imagine the are SAAMI spec'd, but I will email them.

Well then if its SAAMI spec, then you are not supposed to reach the lands, unless you do an extream short seating in the case.

Remember 6,5 Swede originally was set up for shooting a 160 grain bullet and it was a RN bullet.

Ah gotcha. I haven't heard back from Shilen yet. I am sure that I will be able to work up a great load for it. Everyone else seems to have an easy time of it.

Just got an email from Shilen. They used a match reamer with a .297 neck.

And the amount of freebore?
Did you tell them what bullet you plan on using?

The match reamer is designed around the 139-142 grain projectiles. I am not sure the exact amount of freebore but it is quite a bit less than the SAAMI spec reamer.

Are you using a short action or long action

I am using a long action. More specifically a savage 110.

You should have no problems reaching the lands with 139 or 142 class bullets.

Shilen just got back to me again and said that it has zero freebore.
