Maggie’s SecDef fired SecNav over the SOC Gallagher case

"Esper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley spoke to Trump on Friday with the intention of persuading the president to allow the Trident review board to go forward with its inquiry. Instead, Esper learned that Spencer previously and privately proposed to the White House – contrary to Spencer’s public position – to restore Gallagher’s rank and let him retire with his Trident pin, the Pentagon said.

When Esper recently asked, Spencer confirmed that he'd never informed the defense secretary about his private proposal.
Spencer asked Trump to let the Navy review board go forward, promising that the board would, in the end, allow Gallagher to keep his Trident and rank, effectively alluding to his willingness to fix the results of the board usually comprised of the defendant’s peers, a senior U.S. official told Fox News. Trump rejected the offer and said, “no, we’re done,” prompting the president to write a series of tweets doubling down on his efforts to halt the review, the official added."

“I am deeply troubled by this conduct shown by a senior DOD official,” Esper said. “Unfortunately, as a result, I have determined that Secretary Spencer no longer has my confidence to continue in his position. I wish Richard well.”

"Spencer’s ousting was not a consequence of standing up for military justice – but rather was for dishonesty and undermining the military justice system, the senior U.S. official told Fox News. He was fired for “lack of candor,” the official added."

Over a photo are you fucking kidding me. If I was put in the field of battle I would want to be with Eddie Gallagher over those asshats upset over the fucking photo. Why doesn't the Navy concentrate on bringing charges onto the people who commit rape on female cadets , that to me is much more important then posing with some dead terrorist.

I smell another seal multi-million dollar book deal in the making lol... So there I was Opera no shit.....

Trump is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces his word is final
Yes but he should not interfere with the day to day business of the military. This is the equivalent of Obama gibing Manning a pardon. Even though he is CIC, his role traditionally ( yes he is anything but) isn’t to bother with individual members. He directs the chiefs and secretaries and leaves it to them. I just think it’s outside of his role. It’s just one mans opinion. Doesn’t really mean shit at the end of the day. I said in another post, Gallagher was a victim of malicious prosecution but it still doesn’t rise to the level where the president should be using it for political gain. If this was trumps second term and no reelection coming he wouldn’t give two shits.

Given the absurdity of your claims, it's plainly obvious you don't even believe what I quoted, and your dislike of Trump is what compelled you to post it.

So...you're opposed to presidential pardons in general?

My dislike of trump as a person or president has nothing to do with it. Replace trump with any other president, same response.

merit to add, I’m not anti trump. But the man is a Baffoon sometimes.

And in this case? A CM is just day-to-day operations for the armed services.
CM’s happen all the time. This guy just had a lot of loud voices rallying on his behalf. Look like I said Eddie got railroaded by JAG. But the president shouldn’t be involved in what’s going on now. He’s only doing it because it’s an election year.

Prosecutor was spying on defense reading privileged lawyer client comms.

Fuck em.

Hope Flynn gets same rehabilitation.

I think more orangutan than baffoon

See what I mean

Trump tried to make things right with the Gallagher case, the "military justice" system broke every rule and the JAG officers should be brought up on charges. The Sec of the Navy decides to bad mouth and back door his commander in chief in public? Then he needs to be gone. Along with a BUNCH of appointed swamp dwellers who are more than willing to lie to gain political favor. Dump them all, drain the swamp. Trump may be an ass, but he has my full support on this one. "I will defend my country against ALL enemies foreign AND domestic".

The removal of the Trident should be done at a certain level of criminal conviction or if in this case because the criminal conviction was minor, by a peer review board of those in the command. A chief review board. Let them who are best able to judge if he still meets the standard actually judge him. While he is the commander in chief, Trump should not be involved in the Trident issue, and really neither should the SecNav

This case was a shitshow prosecution from the beginning. The Trident removal appears to be an attempt by the command to hand out unjustified punishment to save face.

Where is the trident review committee for "all" of the guys in this picture? wasn't one? just one for CPO Gallagher?

that is how you know it is BS.

I think JAG needs a serious unfucking. And apparently, the right guys at the top agree. This review was actually ordered by the prior CNO.

what will be interesting will be to see how the current JAG and CNO manage the outcome and recommendations of this review. I hope they man up and fix the issues. I think they will, they are both USNA classmates. CNO and I were both in 3rd Co. Mike Gilday is a good guy, and I expect he'll do the right thing. I don't see him falling on his sword for SECNAV...

"Might" have been in bad taste........but beyond that, WGAF ?

As far as DJT "jumping in" ? Hell yes. When there is an injustice happening like what went on here, it is his responsibility to put a stop to it. Scary that it had to go all the way to him for it to be taken care of. Major housecleaning is in order, I hope he does it.

If this is a crime then get the politicians kids to enlist and fight the wars the legal proper way as to not to offend anyone especially the terrorists. Give them handcuffs to arrest these terrorist instead of shooting them, I would vote for that.

I don't want any woke studious liberal asshats in my special forces nor in regular forces, I want hard charging badasses who take no prisoners.

Adm Gilday spoke at USMC luncheon in Boston earlier this month. He was funny, good speaker.

He is local boy from Lowell, MA and that earned him some "Ooh Rahs!"

It was the first luncheon I had been to in three years in which someone did not say something snide/backhanded about POTUS/the administration.

It was refreshing as I went into it thinking I was going to shout "Shut the Fuck up!" If anyone did.

Wouldn't of went over well as I was a guest of the oldest Marine present and went forward with him for the cake cutting/presentation from the Commandant.

What ever happened to the rule "No cameras in combat zones!!? When I was in it was a standing order, and there to protect us from us. Journalists are one thing but it seems like a lot of this is self inflicted.

After the fucking Gitmo pictures any branch of the military is not fucking around when it comes to this shit. I think the two situations are about apples and oranges as it can get, but that's what I see as their motivation for this bullshit. They're making an example out of him, and they can't even do that right because it's not justice and is pissing everyone off.

these fucksticks can thank God i am not the CIC...trying an end around on me and i’d have them courtmartialed. that’s what trump needs to do.

i served the end of my enlistment under clinton. because of his mishandling of events in somolia, i decided to part ways with the service. but at no time would i have undermined him, nor shot my mouth off about him. other than to say i didnt agree with his decisions.....and even that i kept under my beret.

This pos ltc that participated in front of schiff needs to be arrested immediately and court martialed.

Again, above is the part where it becomes ludicrous, because you know rationally that you simply can't know Trump's motivation without the ability to read his mind.

Considering the wealth of evidence that Trump is a true patriot who supports the boots on the ground in Mil and LE, it sounds like you're just whining. We know you don't even believe Trump's motivation in this is just about reelection, because it's obvious he's correcting horrible obama ROEs and lousy decisions by obama promoted officers.

Questioning Trump's decisions is fair enough, but presuming to know his motivation- while ignoring the evidence that actually demonstrates his motivation- is irrational.

It’s not irrational, it’s an opinion. Take it for what it is. I’m willing to admit I could be wrong, are you?
