Sinclair-Wilson Ultimate Trimmer wait time - WTF?

Re: Sinclair-Wilson Ultimate Trimmer wait time - WTF? If you get a regular Wilson trimmer it is a very simple thing to drill out the threaded holder and pick up a mic head from ebay and just substitute the mic head for the threaded rod that the case goes up against. They are about the most...

    Gunsmithing Dial and Test Indicators

Re: Dial and Test Indicators As said before a .001 isnt close enough for a lot of things. You will eventually need a .0001 if not already. Mytotyo or however it is spelled is about as good as it gets.

    Gunsmithing I need marking help

Re: I need marking help I have a set up called etch-o-matic that can be looked up on the computer. It works very well and there have been quite a few additions to the system since I got mine. The stencils the vidio refers to I made up on an old manual typewriter witnout the ribbon and was...

Gunsmithing putting a barrel on rem 700

Re: putting a barrel on rem 700 You mentioned a vise but did not say you had an action wrench. Do not try tightening the action without one, you can twist the reciever.

Re: Custom Dies With the dies that I have made up for a 30X47 I have brass that has been fired 25 times with no f/l sizing, no sholder bump, just neck sized with a bushing.

    dies for a 308

Re: dies for a 308 Fuzzball, why cant a person neck size with a backed out f/l die. I respect your opinion on things and am not being wise, I am curious. I do not own a commercial die other than a few Wilson in line dies, but cant see why the backed out f/l die wont work.

    Custom Dies

Re: Custom Dies Bountyhunter, I do not agree with you at all on the usefulness of a chamber reamer die, but I guess that is a matter of preference. I make mine up from a Newlon blank or even a piece of barrel that has been cut off. If you use a bushing type as I do there is no need at all of...

    dies for a 308

Re: dies for a 308 Why cant you can use the die you have for both, back the f/l die off a turn or so and you have a neck die. When and if your ctgs, get a bit tough to chamber, crank the die all the way down and its a f/l sizer.

    Gunsmithing Barrel vise suggestions

Re: Barrel vise suggestions I have a vise that is modeled after the Brownells that I made up and works great. I just looked at Brownells site and what they want for a vise is mind boggeling. While an innertube might work, I use lead flashing that most hardware stores carry very inexpensively...

Gunsmithing Hammer Forged Barrels: Good or Bad?

Re: Hammer Forged Barrels: Good or Bad? None of the aftermarket barrel makers use hammerforging that I know of. I could be mistaken, as I was when I got married. Just about all of the match winners equipment lists are either cut or button rifled.

    Custom Dies

Re: Custom Dies If you have had a barrel made, ask the smith to make you a die with the same reamer that he did your barrel with. If you have a factory barrel, I can"t see why a custom die will do you any more good than a neck sizer.
