Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Surefire RC2 7.62

E form 4

Submitted: 7/26/23

Called to check status, was told I had a ‘Delayed NTN’. My local SOT told me to call back and ask for the delay date and to rerun the NICS check again. The NFA hotline lady said that they don’t see the delay dates nor can request a rerun of the NICS and I was better off calling the NICS division of the FBI… I’ve had three form 4’s get proceeds without a hitch.

How long can these delays go on for? Is there anything else I should be doing? I’ll admit ignorance in the world of NFA problem solving strategies. Seeing all these quick proceeds has me ancy!!!

All that means is that they supposedly found a record that requires more research, but since July???

Perhaps run yourself online to see what can possibly be reported as a problem.

If there is anything at all on your record, even things that you think might not be disqualifies, such as an arrest for a misdemeanor, the FBI will contact your locals to make sure the case was dismissed or otherwise disposed of in a manner that is not a disqualifier.

I would also consider applying for a UPIN.

The silencer shop wait times are so telling... the E-form individuals "median" wait times have been dwindling for the last 4 weeks (2 weeks in particular). I've been keeping an eye out on them since 12/11/23 (since I certified my e-form through capitol armory). The E-form Individual used to only be 10-15 days less than the e-form trusts (despite those being usually one person like mine). Now the E-form individual wait times are down to 86 days... "median" wait time. In order to make that happen they are approving mostly new applications under this time... I guarantee it, more so than the ones that are over the median wait time. Sadly the e-form trusts are NOT budging much the median wait times have been hovering 178-186 days.... meaning they are approving an equal amount of individuals below, at, and above the median wait time which really sucks. While the e-form individual times have been drastically dwindled down from 160'ish days now to 86 over just a handful of weeks! I'm seriously tempted to just buy another form 4 item on individual now.

As of 2/20/24 median wait for eform trust still 178, eform individual down to 78!!!

My 2nd can was approved.
Silencer Shop
Individual Trust
Submitted/certified on 08/22/2023
Approved on 02/20/2024

Down to 6 months as compared to 9 months on my first one...which was eForm 4, individual trust from Silencer Shop. Now we'll see how Silencer Central is. Will certify there later this week.

I just used the silencer shop kiosk for an individual trust it was certified on 2/15/24 so we’ll see how that goes hoping for 3-5 months like some others are seeing. This is the first time I’ve used the kiosk. My 9mm can was 3 months a few years back while my other 3 cans have been around 6-9 months.

Buddy of mine bought a 9mm can 11 days ago in Wichita Ks. He got an email today saying it was ready to be picked up.

11 Days!

Im so pissed. That lucky SOB. His Sandman before that....14 days

Hayden.
Considering there shouldn't even be a wait time or a tax stamp, but that is the world we live in and doubt it will go away.

Those wait times at least salve the wound s bit.

Lucky sonuffabitch 😄

Wonder if Perry still has a Nomad L titanium in stock🤔

A bit off topic, sorta. Mods, please move/delete if needed.

When you purchase a can through your SOT of choice, a shop that sells/distributes cans, or from wherever, do yourself a favor & verify that the can actually "physically" exists (not just existing on paper) & is in inventory. A local SOT had a situation with a shop that is known for selling silencers where several cans were paid for, without the shop actually being in possession of them. They were not being shown as "Out of Stock" nor was the SOT made aware of the cans not being (physically) in stock until later, when he made a direct inquiry. Had he known, he could have sourced the cans from companies that actually had them, instead of someone that was representing themselves as physically possessing them.

Waiting for approval is one thing, but having an avoidable delay added to the process shouldn't be something that one should have to endure, IMHO.

Should be no problem, if you want do a 5320 after you pick it up you can.

There seems to be a marked difference between recent approval times and those that are still waiting for overlong periods.

Yeah, newer e-form applications seem to be going through hella fast, like 15 years ago kind of fast.

My delays at the local FFL, on a 4473, last 5-15 minutes before they call back.

My "delayed-ntn" status with NFA items, averages around 150 days 🤦‍♂️. Not sure what the fuck they're doing over there; but it ain't hurrying. Waiting on 3 submitted 11/6.

I submitted one on the 30th of last month and got the approval yesterday 2/24/24🤷🏻‍♂️. Fastest one I’ve ever gotten.

I was told that they existed as serial numbers on F3s, as in still at the manufacturer.

Keith

This was a big problem a long time ago. FFL's selling cans not actually in their inventory. Occasionally people would receive a can with a serial number that didn't match the transfer.

For the most part dealer transfers get processed really fast. The questions that arise in these situations are wether or not the manufacturer actually has the finished product in stock or if it's just a serial number on an empty tube or maybe less. Then there's whatever shipping SNAFUs that may come up.

I'd ask which manufacturer and which dealer but until the issue is resolved it might make your issues worse to flame either one of them.

Sad to see this still happening.

Pretty awesome. My fastest transfer on an individual paper F4 back in the day was around 6 weeks. Had one once with an error on the F4 but still turned it around in about 8 weeks. Back when USPS wasn't yet completely useless.

doubloon,

The SOT is good to go. The normal procedure, when he's dealing with this distributor, that's actually a shop that's known for silencers, is everyone understands that the distributor has the cans in stock. That was not the case for these examples as they only possessed serial numbers as the manufacturer had not completed the builds. All that would be fine, if, everyone knew that the shop, known for silencers, was actually not in possession of the cans.

Same experience on 4473s. This was the first time I called the NFA hotline to ask about my status since I’ve seen so many wicked fast proceeds coming back. My first can took 93 days (certified at the beginning of the eform launch) then the next two took 8 months but that felt on par with everyone else. Not sure what necessitated a delay on this one, but it sure is frustrated seeing these quick proceeds haha!
