Introducing the AI Obsession Chassis

Regardless of whether or not you bond it, the brass washers are needed. They define the height of the action relative to the magazine. If you don’t use the washers the magazine will sit 0.030” too high relative to the bolt face.

I tell people if they think they don’t want to bond it, it’s free to try first. Assemble it and torque everything down, and go shoot it. But don’t forget to bang it around a bit and give the barrel some impacts to see if your zero shifts. I tested mine unbonded, and shot one of the best groups of my life at 100, but when I hit the barrel with a mallet it didn’t hold zero.
Hi Samb300, pretty much what I figured, must be a bitch if you ever wanted to clean the Devcon from the Vision though, compared to the AI?
Surprised it didn't maintain zero better on the washes alone, obviously you gave it the same tap after bonding and the zero remained sweet?
Thanks for the advice, my AX shipped today, so just looking to get my ducks in a row!
Pete

Those washers are 100% necessary... Whether you decide to bond or not I suppose is on you. If you need new ones, Mile High has them in stock normally.
Thanks J-Ham, I'm in Australia bemoaning the price of mark-up on the Vision gear over here. They don't miss you (not a dig at Vision, more our exchange rate and taxes). Have the washes, well sandwiched still where they belong, but it would just be easier here to surface plate some washes if in need, to the correct thickness.
Thanku
Pete

I’ve found the easiest way to remove the Devcon is with a heat gun, or to heat the whole chassis in an oven set to 250F. That’s how I de-bond the action from the chassis, I just throw it in my oven for an hour at 250F and the action peels right off.

I gave it more than a tap with the mallet haha. Once it’s bonded I’ve never had an issue losing zero. My rifle fell off a prop about 3 feet onto the barrel and I didn’t lose zero, so I’d call that good.

I didnt bond my AO, but bedded it with the washers and release agent, like youd bed any action in a stock normally.

That is genius I wish I would have thought of that. When you get a sec I would like to see the bed

Its tight as a nuns nasty, but the next time Im swapping barrels on the AT ill pop it out and show ya. Its the best of both worlds in reality - fully bedded, super tight, but removable for when my stupidity kicks in and I decide to change the color on the chassis.

I bonded my AX into its Vision but wish Id just bedded it too in hindsight.

Still used Devcon?

Anyone have an ETA on the Vision butt stock in the US? Talked to GCP about a month ago and they said “supposedly” soon… Assuming the rear end will always require the AI hinge? I’m ready!

Ordered a AO/Vision chassis and grip panels from GCP. The classic AI green should go well with my sage green barrel and buttstock.

What grip is everyone using for the new grip panels?

Zombie 🧟‍♂️ thread revived…
Dumb question, thumb hole stock with AX hinge, will the stock clear if bolt handle is rotated up? Just pondering 🤔
I have the AX hinge for a conversion, but need an AX stock, yet have the thumb hole stock…

In case anyone missed the first limited run and always kicked themselves for it, I'm selling my practically new in box pale brown (test fit with an action, but never bonded or fired)
