Not sure what's changed, but I bought a Suppressor at my LGS using the SilencerShop Kiosk ... and had NFA approval in 7 days. Suppressors used to take 6-to-8 months.
ATF trying to make politicians happy so they get "funding". If thousands are getting approved in 2-6 days VS the other thousands still taking 6-8 months, it would lower the avg wait to 3-4 months. I think when Eform was being proposed to legislation the ATF/FBI promised 6? months. 6 months was B.S. and politicians started asking them questions. This is just my guess anyways.

Hard to visualize Congress being that observant and planful ... but I guess it's possible. Most days, they can't find their own ass with both hands and a flashlight.

The American Suppressor Association worked with the ATF to streamline processing. Amazing that the ATF listened, and more amazing that they followed through.

Still can’t believe it. Are pigs flying yet?

For us guys that recently got approved is there a signature of an ATF agent signing off on them? My approved stamp on 04.29.2024 says "Authorized NFA Division official" only. All of my stamps, even my 2 free SBR's had an actual name on the approved Form 4's and Form 1's.

Just "Authorized NFA official".

Several in Feb.

2 in April.

I didn't know there was such an animal as the ASA.

I might just look them up and see if I can throw a few bones their way.

Reward the good!

Still waiting….

They got sick of everybody emailing the examiners.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm ashamed to say I wasn't a paying member before, but am now. I'd way rather support people like this who get things done than Fudds like the NRA.

was that an existing trust or a single shot?
Existing trust. I was going to call it a "standard" trust but I'm an admitted newbie with NFA items and I'm sure that's not what it's called. It was a trust setup by an attorney specifically for the purpose of owning suppressors and SBRs.

I'm also the only responsible party on the trust.

Ha! Awesome! That describes my situation too. Man o’ man would it be cool to get my can in three months.

Although even three months is pathetically slow.

I was going to just go individual and transfer it into my trust (for another $200) but I got lazy as Silencer Shop defaults to using my existing trust.

It costs another $200 to add to an existing trust?! Ooof

Dumb! Haven't they taken enough of my money
Yup!

However, you COULD also think of it like a "savings":

Tax stamps started in 1934, I believe, and remained $200 (excluding AOW's).

So, adjusting for inflation each $200 stamp you own could cost you roughly $4,600. Each. Today.

If ATF kept up with the devaluation of the dollar...

Thanks ATF!

Congress, not ATF. The dollar amount was set by law. The ATF has nothing to do with it other than administer the tax with the transfer forms. That is why the ATF was, up until the "War on Terror" reorganizations, within the Treasury Department. They were a revenue agency. Alcohol, tobacco, firearms, all have excise taxes.

That is where they should be still.

Then, thanks Congress!

Anyone seen updated times on Form 4 from a trust to a class 3 dealer? Wondering if this is also speeding up the first leg of out of state purchases on used supressors.

Trust form 4
Submitted 2/12/24
Still waiting

I keep getting locked out of Eforms web site, what a pain in the ass to reset for entry.
Anyone else get locked out?

Still waiting on 2x F1 and 1x F4 on traditional trust from late Nov, late Dec and early March. There were a few posts here recently of trusts from my timeframe coming in, so I'm hoping they'll come in sooner than later.

Still waiting here. Been waiting on one since the march 23rd and another since the 12th of April. The fact this seems like luck of the draw is...well it's typical.

VERY! I am keep reading hours or days, and mine has been in since 4/5/2024. Oh well, I have waited over a year before, but still silly what random ass order they seem to have.

I just got my stamp yesterday on a suppressor it’s been in jail almost 4 years yes 4 years! Yes I have other suppressors, yes no criminal record at all………. When the ATF first got my info it was a woman examiner and her first week on thejob, this was told to me by another examiner, any ways someone’s name was a close match to mine and bingo she failed me, even after I talked to her and she admitted I had other suppressors she still refused to help me at all, she could see my concealed carry permit and my other suppressors and my sbr’s it still took almost 4 years,

The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help...
