Not at that point. The narrative states it is a “glued on piece”.@Kwtaylor is there a pic of the inner received?
I’d have to get my glasses but I am pretty sure that’s an early RFID button. Now that this rifle is past my pay grade, Does anyone have an idea what this knob would be for? It is in a CMP Auction.

And I was hoping it would go cheap…………That auction was a sleeper. It has 2 UID trackers, and the weird RFID tracker. And the HS Precision stock has early issue annodized aluminum plates, not blackened. Maybe a Quantico benchmade predecessor to the M40A3...call it an XM40A2 prototype, or even a stop-gap M40A1 rebuild when McMillan HTG stocks weren't available?
Looks good! You can easily sand off that webbing and just paint it flat black. So freaking close… Stock came in, of course textured and has that fat buttpad… is it hard to get a more correct looking pad ground to shape? But right otherwise.
Need to open the lug pocket up to fit the oversized lug (badger ordinance m40a3, fatter but the same height thankfully)… floor plate is at the cerakoters.

Im thinking about it. I have a can of flat black alumahyde I might dump on it.Looks good! You can easily sand off that webbing and just paint it flat black.
You won’t notice the difference. The flat black even shines up with hand oils the way the normal HS precision coating does. If you do sand it though make sure you sand with a sanding block or other hard surface backing the sandpaper. That will keep it from flexing and only hit the high spots.Im thinking about it.
