I know how to mechanically do this...twist the ring against the occular. However, it always seems to come un-done/loose as I shoot throughout the day---even short range sessions---even when I hit it with my purse. I know the ATACR is an issued optic...how is this being addressed, typically, by those it is issued to? Is there "a common way"? I've seen everything from electrical tape on Kyle Defoor's to being told to use a small drop of VC3 or loctite.

I have never had that happen, and mine is mounted on a SCAR 17.
Maybe talk to NF.

If you can’t get it tight enough for some reason, witness mark it then put a piece of good tape around it.

A friend uses a section of bicycle inner tube.

You can put on some work gloves to get it good and tight. You can also put a witness mark with a pencil, then back them off a bit and quickly tighten them in a jerking motion, then verify that you got them lined back up with the witness mark. Or just use some tape. I would say avoid Loktite. If you're having a hard time getting it tight enough by hand, imagine the trouble you'll have getting it loose by hand once it's got thread-locker on it.

I used a narrow strap wrench that interacted with only the lock ring, and held the occular. I didn't get stupid, I just snugged it. I'd say it moved 1-1.5mm more than I got it by hand. I went and dumped 60rds through the gun doing up-drills and it didn't budge.

What about lockin it in a vise and using mah tractor channel locks on it !!

(comes loose too often for me too, I guess I just got used to it and check it often without thinking)

(of course I sent my L&S mk6 3-18x in twice to get them to loosen up the diopter a little - the second time they did ! :D )

I called NF and they said if tightened properly, it would stay PUT. They recommended rubber gloves, but also said a strap wrench if used intelligently would be fine.

I witness marked one and wrapped it with cofax. It then went back to NF.
