Turns out all you need is a better spongy trigger. Who knew.

Only question left is, LPVO or RD+magnifier to start dominating PRS?

I've actually thought it would be cool to shoot an AK match someday. But honestly they mostly look like a furry convention and an incel support group started partying and a match accidentally broke out.
Some truly weird stuff, never seen so many dudes with guns in drag.

Can I still operate operationally with a QF on my commie blaster?
If shooting more than 1 round every 3 seconds doesn't void the warranty, I don't see why not. But in order to utilize one as a high-speed operator, you need to have experience with a bow, work in concrete, and do at least 10 reps at 200# on the bench press.

I actually check all those boxes!

A common pitfall is thinking you have to buy all the best gear right out of the gate. If you’re ok wearing the same tracksuit to more than one competition, or *gasp*, wearing a t-shirt and jeans, you’ll save yourself a lot of money, and it’ll feel so good to pick up that Adidas 100%-off cert. from the prize table.

Running hipster/non-standard shit in public is the fast-track to being ignored by all the right people, and getting attention from all the wrong ones.

Ask me how I know... :cautious:

Re: The AK in comp...
I mean, one could probably piece together a pretty sick 6ARC build on a Sharps Bros milled receiver for stupid $$$ that could (theoretically) be accurate. No idea how it performs on braced/loaded positions and how one works out the optic mount issue that has plagued the AK family...but that's fucking commie gun people problems....

Actually, I have one of those ALG-UT triggers in my AK, and it's the best AK trigger I've ever felt. HUGE upgrade over any standard factory AK trigger. Also, while it's no precision instrument, I have no problems popping 5" gongs at 100 yards every time with cheap Wolf 122gr steel, and a simple red dot. It's pretty damn accurate for an AK.

Full disclosure, I like AK's and actually have that trigger in mine. I just found Brownells assertion that a trigger would make an AK a viable PRS platform laughable.
Buddy of mine is an AK nerd. Runs a well attended AK match too. He does a ton of work to his, makes free floating handguards, loads quality ammo, somehow mounts scopes sturdily, applies copious amounts of stickers in proper AK autism fashion. Just loves the things. Still readily admits his 5.56 match gun is maybe a 2 MOA gun on its best day.

Same...found it better than the celebrated tapco (which is better than most). Wish I would've had it in this guy...which was about as good as it got for me in my 2-3 year experiment of being "AK-curious":

300y on 10" plates with a 4MOA T1 were not a problem at all....compared to this abortion that was a vain attempt to get a decent top rail:
(Yes, that's AI fde for those wondering)

Absolutely. It's just the whole AK+trigger=PRS that made me chuckle.

Yeah, it would take a ton to get an AK "PRS worthy"... It would most likely have to be a 100% custom engineered & fully-machined in-house from billet to the tightest possible tolerances, with a custom made barrel by one of the big names like Bartlein, or someone like that, but chambered in a good cartridge like 6mm ARC, and and you'd be $5,000 deep in just the rifle without optics...

Hey, we’re just entering lower-end AI airspace at that figure lol.

But I’d love to see an AK wipe everyone’s butt just for grins. Just like I want someone on the winners podium hoisting a Savage above his head.

Bonus if the Savage falls apart while hoisted hahaha

Problem is, people are already putting that much money and work into AR10's, which are undeniably a better platform to start with, and still not getting anywhere near PRS domination. It's just not a thing.

Wait wait wait…please someone show up with one of these that you made in your garage…

BOLT ACTION AK

I quote:

“…it is crudely marked "7MM", but the barrel is larger than 7mm in diameter. The most likely cartridges for a rifle from this area of Afghanistan or the Khyber Pass / Darra region of Pakistan would be 8mm Mauser, .303 British, or 7.62x54R - and none of these fit.”

I hope you are really a good shot and win!

As opposed to how they normally function...By falling apart while shooting. Those Poors rifles (Savages) don't even deserve to be seen outside of the trailer park. 😂

I think Brownell’s intended this statement to be tongue in cheek. Look at the conversation being had because of it. Mission accomplished!

What’s the Men in Black line?….

“No sir, we at (Brownells) do not have a sense of humor that we are aware of.”

Though their shipping is an epic joke so maybe you are correct.😂

Not gonna lie, an AK-based DMR match would be awesome. Tough to find shooters (and I include myself) though.
It would be. Obviously the accuracy requirements would have to be relaxed from what a typical DMR match would have. Again, I don't subscribe to the theory that AK's can't hit the broad side of a barn from inside it, but even with an unusually accurate AK 7.62x39 still really sucks at range.

9 Hole Reviews has taken even shorties out to 500yds. I think 5-600 with generous targets at distance would be pretty sweet.

While not belittling them, but they're set up for more success than someone on the clock, with no spotter, not in prone supported position.

400 would be plenty sporty

Yeah I've taken my AK out to 5 a few times, and it's definitely "combat acceptable". dms416 beat me to it though, they've got practice with a spotter before the cameras roll, a pretty good handle on environmental conditions and ballistics, and a solid shooting position.
I've not seen many DMR matches shooting all torso sized targets and from bagged prone. If barricades and positional shooting turn your free floated, solidly mounted optic, fast lock time light triggered, .8" capable AR into a 2 MOA gun, they'll turn your 3 MOA AK into a 6 MOA gun easy.
Still a cool idea, just explaining why I thought it would need relaxed accuracy requirements.

Just make it an AK-centric match... 0-500, run what ya brung. Don't get much more "realistic" than that; maybe the "nyet, rifle is fine" traditionalists will reassess their position after getting waxed.
Kalashnicon was this weekend. It was at Lead farm in Versailles, MO. Usually a generous amount of targets in the 100-350yd and a stage or 2 with >500yd shots possible.

disclaimer: This is not the Event that has furries

Figured it had to exist somewhere.

Ok I need details. What the absolute fuck lol

I don't know, if you're going to use sarcastic humor in advertising you should probably make it really obvious to avoid misleading money spending customers.
