Did you know the massive recoil of an AR15.............

He can shoot this

Was they shootin one of them thar 88mm konversion kitts?

Shooting an unsuppressed centerfire rifle at an indoor range sucks ass. Shooting under a roof sucks. And, the devious bastard that thought up shooting match stages throughout culverts should be strung up. The above notwithstanding, the article is laced with not a small amount of hyperbole. But, for a new shooter, an indoor range is the wrong place to begin shooting high power rifles.

Red’s Indoor Range in Austin was where I would go to check zero before deer season when I was in college. It was comical to see the other shooters prairie dog out from behind the partitions when that 270 win went off…

I only shoot suppressed. Join the ranks of the civilized.

The mountain contour barrel on that rifle doesn’t have enough meat to thread, but in general I have.

My teeth are still rattling from shooting one this morning.

For clarification, this is not the pusscake author of this sham piece, the photo is of Bryan Oberc, taken at the 2019 NRA National Meeting.

Here's the original article.

Overall it's a fairly positive article about a new range in VT. It does get silly when the author starts talking about guns, and the paragraph about shooting the AR is downright ridiculous.

It is difficult to describe the impact — physical and personal — of that first shot. It felt like a meteor had struck the earth in front of me. A deep shock wave coursed through my body, the recoil rippling through my arms and right shoulder with astounding power. Being that close to an explosion of such magnitude — controlled and focused as it was — rattled me.

I think he orgasamed when he shot it, but he's in the closet about being 2A-curious.

I want to see one of these field reporters get trolled. Something along the lines of:

"Jumping right into an AR15 is a bold move. It's just so powerful... here, warm up on this. It's a .460 Weatherby. It's a lightweight bolt action with a nice wood stock and it doesn't even have a clip."

If they hang in there, maybe even build up to a M&P 22-15 in place of the 5.56. They'd never know the difference. Let him shoot green tips and tell them they're for shooting tanks, that he can't fire the orange ones because they explode and he's indoors... that the ones with the nickel cases are poison tipped or something ridiculous like that. Give him an airlite .357 titanium revolver with hot loads, then a boat anchor .22lr that's twice the size and see what his reaction looks like. Just load one in the chamber each time so he doesn't shoot himself and try to keep a straight face.

The possibilities are endless when the subject is clueless.

My son was maybe 55 lbs when this photo was taken:

You can see how obviously terrified he is of the massive, bone-shaking recoil. (The only real fear anywhere near this scene is off-camera, where I was pondering the amount of ammunition that 9-year-olds can consume when introduced to various semi-auto platforms.)

Here is his older cousin tagging some Tannerite:

That kid was a solid 95 lbs when this photo was taken... which probably includes more lean muscle than the reporter who wrote this article.

worst part is the "shooter" looks like a bigger guy...makes it even worse lol

Reminds me of that journalist (?) that claimed he had PTSD after shooting an AR-15

The writer may be clueless, but so is the intended audience. Whatever s/he writes will become gospel to the readers. You’re just feeding them more tripe that will be impossible to dispel.

While I appreciate the effort, I have enough ammunition hand loaded for this barrel that my kids kids will be able to fill tags for their lifetimes, so I don’t see me replacing the barrel. For the 3 or 4 times it gets shot each year, I can bear to put on ear pro before the shot. For other situations, I have other rifles. But, with well over 1/2 of the competitors at a typical match shooting obnoxious brakes- requiring me to double up on ear pro even if I am suppressed- the benefits of a suppressor in that arena are outweighed by the negatives.

That said, a suppressed 22lr is about as much fun as one should be able to have with a rifle. And, my younger son took his first deer last season with a suppressed 6.5 Grendel...

It is ironic that the limp-wristed leftist writer has manly enough hands to shoot a pistol without gloves, but the guy watching needs work gloves to protect his hands from..., his ear muffs?

Scared to death. Lol

More than you think

The very last paragraph in his article fluff piece
I'm not sure what scared me more — the power of that weapon or the fact that I could have taken one home that day.
He, like most anti-gunners, is projecting his fear of what he might do with one onto every one else.

He probably told the manbitch 'Pull in with your left hand, at the same time push out with your right and squeeeze the trigger' said no one who ever achieved any level of skill with a handgun.
