Came across these and jumped on them. Had a Brian fart on my bartlein being 7 twist vs the 7.7 it actually is. Are these going to be too long for the 7.7?

.223rem chamber at 26”

I was interested in these for an 8" twist barrel and was looking at the Berger twist rate calculator. I know that with an 8" twist, the bullet would be "marginally stable" and the BC would be compromised. I would expect a 7.7" twist barrel to be pretty similair.

Tsu, what's your elevation? What temperature do you intend to shoot at?

I run the 88s 2880 to 3300fps (not a .223 Rem) and they're stable at my elevation in a 1:8" twist. I seem to get "full value" of the BC to 1200 yards. This is though I routinely shoot between 5200' and 8000' elevation, 17˚F-95˚F. 1:8" seems to work.

~180ft and 40-110 F

In my case, Berger's stability calculator says that at 17˚F, 6500' and 2850fps in an 1:8" twist I get 1.24 stability factor for the 88ELD. That said, the .274 G7 BC dope is literally on target out past 900 yards, sub MOA at 1000 yards. Get whatever twist will net you the same or better stability factor would be my recommendation. Naturally, the caveat "your mileage may vary" applies.
