When installing a Timney trigger in the Rem 700 5R 308, I noticed the new trigger ended up a bit off center (almost touching one side). Instructions mention using a dremel to gain clearance. I took the rifle apart again, and noticed that when they painted the stock, they did not mask the bedding blocks very well. There was paint on 30-40% of the bedding area plus there was a small piece of a sticker on the barrel/action right where it mates with the stock. Masked off and carefully cleaned it all up with sand paper. Torqued it all down again, and trigger was perfectly centered. Guess the action/barrel had been "crooked" all along.
