Is there much a velocity gain going from 16.5" to 20" with most .308 factory loads?
I'm considering this model for some target shooting and mostly deer hunting. I have an AR 6.8 I use in the woods, but would like something with a little more reach in the fields (<500yrds) and yet still retain some of the handling advantages.

Is the Cerakote as durable as the NP3? Yes, I like to look at my guns when not using them.

An UBR will equip this model if I decide to buy it.

Thanks

Thanks. Not much of a difference between the 14.5" and 16.5".
150 fps between the 16.5" and 20" at least for the 168gr Gold Match load doesn't seem like much either...?

Re: Considering P308 Green Cerakote R308-20-MRR-11H-3

I can tell you that with my 155 hand loads I shoot my 16.5" POF to a little over 600 yards and I don't miss the extra 3.5". I wouldn't go 20"......they are pretty big guns and the extra length barrel would be a hinderance for me deer hunting.

16.5" pof 308 works well for me out to 500 yds,i dont miss the extra 4" at all..

I'll stick w/ the 16.5".

Is NP3 more durable than Cerakote?

I have a Krieger barreled 300WM that was Cerakoted about 4 or 5 yrs ago by Fit4Duty and not a single wear mark on the barrel or receiver.
Curious if there's an advantage at all going w/the NP3 with a more abused gun.

I think just the exterior is Cerakote Green, The internals are coated w/np3.

I like 18inches for a GasGun but they dont offer one so I would opt for the 16

Re: Considering P308 Green Cerakote R308-20-MRR-11H-3

I recently purchased my P308 20" with the 2010 rail not the new HSR (simply because I like the old style) and im currently building it to be a 500-1000 yard steel shooter and can not be happier with it.
If your building a prone gun for longer engagements like me the 20" will suit you well. If you plan on making it a lighter Carbine type gun the 20" is too front heavy especially with a bipod and full 20-25 rounds of 308. Shooting off hand you get that wobble about 10-15 rounds in to the mag haha! What Inalabama and GGmanning said, you would be more suited for the 16 or 14.5.
