So I just showed up at Jefferson University Hospital to begin work up for surgery . I had taken a knee to the head training for a fight and broke a bone , inner ear . They removed my ear drum and both hammer bones due to cholesteatoma . Then they grafted a new ear drum .

So here years later . I want my hearing back . They are going to install a titanium single hammer bone . It's gonna suck as they will cut behind the ear , open up the inner ear and do the deed . First few days are not pleasant .

So I digress . I go to check in and they are charging for Two separate appointments . One for hearing test and one for the visit . WTF . Surprised the don't have a credit card slot for the elevator . Maybe pop quarters in the window to check in . Maybe a tool booth to leave the Mother Fuckin office . Greed at it's best .

Can't fuckin wait for the surgery bill .

That’s a fucking miracle of modern medicine.

Also, not too different than paying for labwork or X-rays separately from the doc who prescribes the meds or puts on the cast.

but still, you’re getting a bionic ear!

Pretty standard when it comes to billing. Diagnostics are always billed seperate. You’ll get another bill from the physician who interprets the results. Everything is “Al la carte” now

Look at my avatar and ask how much that bill is

Most hospitals around here have paid parking, but when checking out, they will validate the ticket. You have to know and ask.
Worst part of surgery is that they call in an anesthesiologist from somewhere and they are never "in-network"... then you get screwed on rates. Have to try to fight to get charges reduced.

Another pharma scam... $5K/month for my shots... they also pick up the co-pays because otherwise nobody would take them. If you don't have insurance, it's free. They get a tax write-off for the "free" doses so they don't have to pay taxes on the insurance payments.

Most hospitals have anesthesiologists on staff or under contract. I’ve never heard of anesthesia not being covered. Unless we’re talking cosmetic surgery. That’s a different story. PS I do anesthesia

Wait till they bill your insurance for 3 separate smaller fees, the send you a bill for all 3 wrapped up into one sum. Then argue they sent it to the insurance. Meanwhile insurance says “no, we didn’t get that bill for xxx amount, we got individual bills for a total of yyy amount. I called one and had the other on speaker phone, suddenly they get their shit figured out and I don’t do t get any more bills in the mail. Fucktards

It's all a racket. I'm trying to switch from one specialist (who doesn't appear to give 2 shits anymore) to a different one in the same field, and the new one wants a referral from my GP. My GP wants me to come in for a visit. They basically get a co-pay and to bill my insurance for absolutely nothing.

The Barrett tinnitus is the best out there, imagine if you brought an AI in 6.5 you would be suffering from gender dysphoria . Your ears would still be sore and extremely red but no ringing....

Yep, only took one pull of the trigger with no ears. All I heard for two days was the action cycling, the the ringing started.

Aside from the health care system being fucked. Best to you on the "deed" recovery and desired results.

    Just Fuckin Wow .
After about a dozen office visits , MRIs , hearing fuckin tests , fake hernia tests ta squeeze my balls for 1k copays Was informed that " oh no that is not an option .

When I first went to these assholes in about 2013 I was told " we will remove your ear drum , scar tissue and both hammer bones . We will then install this prophetic titanium bone . You will have your hearing but need hearing aids .
Awesome 😎 , great and feckin brilliant .

So I do the work up . Pre admission etc . No shit like three fuckin visits for this shit . They perform the surgery . I wake up , puke for 4 hrs then wife drives me home . It was the most pleasant 3hr. construction traffic pain writhing puking trip I've ever taken . Ok I'm a pussy . Fast forward 1 week to follow up .

" SAPRIZZZZE MOTHA FUCKER . YOU FUCKIN DEAF . " Yup . Ask Dr. Fronkunsteen WTF ? Where's muh hearing . Oh but wait for an additional $29.99 plus shipping and handling we'll include this lovely reach around . Yeah no hearing pal . That's another 37k . But it's still GTG right . " Sure Jackson " .

So I started another work up a year later that was interrupted by work . Honestly I was grateful cause I was dreading the post op festivities . Yeah still a pussy . And to be crystal fuckin clear " yes we will open you up . It is called second look surgery . If ok we will install prophetic ( spelled like that cause I'm fuckin deaf and talk like Lou fuckin Ferrigno . Not really . Just an A hole ) and you will have your hearing back .

So here I am . Set up my appointment . Put on my big boy pants , grab my teddy bear and head to dah big city . This time I get an appt with Dr. Kevorkian . Do muh hearing test and bam . "Yeah that's not been an option since 2014 . You have no usable hearing in that ear ." Wait , what . I've had bone transmission three years ago when I got my left ear hearing aid . " That's not possible ."

In verbal exchanges I am often very professional . I have a gift in being able to intellectually assess process and formulate . I'm not sure if it's a developed over years skill or not . Having said that I am also slow on the negative assessment side . The damage assessment . The how bad did you fuck me side . I realized that this is actually a gift . An actual Blessing from God . For if I had processed the fuckin I received by these incompetent twats I would have gone all jump guard , sweep ,high mount ground pound and smashed fuckin hands . Amongst other orthopedic atrocities . And I'm blessed

    So in summation .
    I'm a pussy .
I was blatantly lied to and strung along .
I have some leg work to do legally and medically .
I do not let shit go . I will exhaust every legal option I have or can create .
Did I mention how pissed I am .

Can't put suppressors on 107mm rockets and 81 and 120mm mortar rounds along with the main gun on a T54/55, IED's etc etc

    Nope.

    Your hearing-your experience.

Tell them of what you experience.

My brother is FA (VN), and goes thru this. He is fucked, from Nam and cannot hear-I fuck with him accordingly. Someone has too!

Do NOT let them tell you otherwise. Hearing is damaged during service regularly.

Even close combat w/o plugs-it is a thing. Just saying. No one can wear those plugs preemptively, always. We all run thru stupid shit like this. They cannot defend that.

You are NOT the problem. We are the results of said bullshit.

    Truth.

This ^^^ was pretty much my experience with a tympanoplasty. Cut the ear pretty much off, graft a new eardrum in, then sew the ear back on. Doc must have a lazy eye because now one ear is slightly lower than the other. Anyway, the puking... OMG 3 days. My only movement was to crawl from the couch to the bathroom to puke. I've had 2 ACL replacements and neither affected me like having my eardrum replaced. Fuuuuuuck.

I'm hoping we can find that cure myself. My was most like Browning induced in the duck blind; but nonetheless.

It's the inner ear shit . Fucks you up six ways from Sunday . Only time I crawled after surgery was abdominal stuff . May or may not have removed IV , monitors , giant bendy straw thing/ sore throat and thought , " Walk-in out bitches " . Hmm , tile floor hard . Ok I'm stupid and a pussy .

Hookers would of been cheaper to squeeze your balls and more enjoyable.

When I was without health insurance (self employed) I used to ask how much things cost before I took anything or accepted any treatment. The nurses looked at me like I had three heads. Then they'd do stuff like hand me a little cup with a pill in it. I'd ask, "what's this?" "Oh, it's ibuprofen."

    No thanks. Take it back.

Yet there it would be on my bill. One Ibuprofen... $30. Fighting to get that stuff removed would be like pulling teeth. Bunch of crooks.

What they do is bill you for what it cost to run the hospital per day based on one person YOU, instead of dividing that cost among all the patients in said building. Family member 10 days in hospital to monitor brain with a laptop in the room. $350K to lay in bed and watch TV , I could of got a room in Trump Tower with a Nurse/Stripper for that amount.

Its the muzzle brake that blows it all back at you, noise included. Heres the Barrett. First time I shot it I looked behind me and my buddy was brushing leaves and dirt off his face. It was fun but I didnt have to take out many enemy vehicles at 1500 meters here in Virginia. The APIT's were impressive though.

The Armalite AR50 brake was the best for recoil management but worst for muzzle blast out of the group of .50 BMG muzzle brakes that I had experienced.

I hate to say it but after seeing dozens of bed bound, demented, non ambulatory nursing home patients getting total hip replacements with my own eyes, as well as a cardiologist putting stents in clean open coronaries in my home state, and hearing of oncologists doing stem cell transplants on people without cancer, I don’t put anything outside the realm of possibility anymore. Nobody hates money but I thought some things were sacred. I happen to be a doctor as well.

Don’t even ask me about some of the stuff I’ve heard around Covid. Unreal.
