Golfer arrested

I’m sure there’s culpability all around, but it appears the cop…likely rented out on OT day…decided to jump on his car when he failed to stop. Now Scottie’s being charged with vehicular assault on a police officer. Unreal.

Having escorted and driven with VIPs for a good part of my adult life, I’m pretty sure he thought the cop recognized his plainly marked official PGA vehicle and was waving him through…looks like it was raining, so very likely had his windows up too.

Or maybe he was just another pretentious asshole who got what he deserved…guess we’ll eventually (or never, LoL) find out.

Regardless, it’s a bad scene all around… And I get that cops these days are spring-loaded to defend themselves from attacks, and a venue like this is primed for a no-kidding international terrorist attack, so who knows what level of briefing the cop got right before he went on duty. Hell, a couple of ‘middle eastern migrant’ (one on the terrorist watch list) just tried to crash the gate at Quantico, so they were almost certainly briefed to be aware of this risk.

That said, whatever happened to cops being trained to de-escalate situations like this? Rhetorical question of course…fewer and fewer critical thinkers are going into police and other public sector “service” jobs these days. We reap what we sow.

It looks like the officer was investigating a traffic fatality, not doing anything about traffic control for the golf event.

From the article:

Kind of looks like a misunderstanding on both ends escalated by a “respect my AUTHORITI” psychotic cop. He jumps on a vehicle like he’s in a movie, then charges the guy with a felony!?!? About 12 years ago I got stopped by some arrogant jerk cop in Louisville. I was driving a white TDI Jetta and you would think I was some gang banger that had just robbed a bank and hot boxing on my way from the crime the way he was jacked up and attempted, to no avail, to escalate the situation. Dude was totally psychotic. I remained totally calm and got my ticket for passing in a non passing zone a female Asian driving a white Mercedes at 10 mph in a 30 mph zone; then took traffic school and got it erased. My impression is that if they got rid of all the psychotic nut bags in the Louisville and surrounding area police departments, there would be few officers left.

I have to emphasize and side with the cop here. Anyone ever been tasked with directing traffic will tell you humans are dumber than fuck and they keep coming. You quickly hate the mfr's.

Then add the rain and the special asshole that thinks rules don't apply to him and drives around you. I've seen fistfights break out on construction sites over this.

I have directed traffic MANY times and its amazing how many idiots think I'm not directing them and the try to drive around. I had a road closed for a fatality and was directing the flow on another highway. I literally watched as they drove through a business parking lot to try and continue on the closed road.

I know several Louisville cops and that area. Louisville has gotten a bad rap but incidents like this certainly won't help the public opinion of them.

Definitely bad juju all the way around. Scottie Scheffler seems to ve a good guy and just had a baby recently. So I do hate this for him.

My guess is the prosecutor will decline to charge him. Especially if witnesses said he was following another marked unit's directions.
 
I would imagine the PGA will step in too. Think of the fallout if the PGA were to move this tournament away from Louisville if this... That is major amounts of money.
 
Sounds like a bunch of "do you know who I am-itis" all the way around. I predict a little probation, a fine, some community service and the offended officers will get to play a practice round at Augusta. And this will all go away quietly. Good thing he wasn't Amish

Also how many people got arrested today and were out of jail to make your tee time or get to your job on time? Some strings were pulled for sure. Just another example of "white privilege " the "special kind of privilege "
I think people confuse white privilege with rich privilege.
 
So Uniform Hanger #1 is telling you what to do
Uniform Hanger #2 decides to also jump in and tell you to do the opposite

You follow Uniform Hanger #1 and Uniform Hanger number #2 gets all mad and goes into Rambo mode, gets hurt because of their own stupidity and then they arrest you for not being able to do 2 opposite things at the same time or possibly have a premonition about which Uniform Hanger was the bigger asshole that day.

Sounds about right for the stupid Uniform Hangers.

Apparently all the golfers had been told about the fatality, that police would be on the scene and that the police dept had told the PGA to instruct ALL golfers to drive slowly around where the incident had occurred but to not stop and to drive on to the clubhouse. Seems like a complete misunderstanding based on everything I have seen anyways.

Didn’t seem to affect him much, 5 under today tied for 3rd overall, probably a course record for someone in jail a hour before.

Very, VERY happy to live on "Sunny Side" and not in Jefferson County....it wasn't a great look for LMPD, or Louisville, or the State of Kentucky.

It was telling that both the Governor & Mayor put out statements basically saying "We hope the parties can come to an understanding", which seems about as close to "Are you fucking kidding me LMPD the Commonwealth's Attorney better drop these stupid exaggerated charges" as one can publicly make.

So, you don't think when he was enroute to compete in a major PGA golf tournament worth millions in prize money and his ranking as a top golfer on the line, he decided fucking with a nobody cop took priority?

I am trying to figure out the anti-cop sentiment here. He thought the rules didn't apply to him so he went around. Cop tries to stop him and then both assholes collided. Its that simple. He got off with a blip of bad publicity is how it ended.

Yes, he was. It's one of the most tragic cases of murder by cop caught on video you'll ever see.

I saw it when it first happened and won't watch it again. That fucking cop belongs in the same wood chipper as Joe Biden.

when 70% of them are corrupt,sociopathic,bullies with a self installed god complex why would anyone be anti cop? same applies to their big brothers in ATF,FBI,DEA,IRS et al. free to murder and beat non amish citizens. if that kid were a bannana eater,riots would already have started. unfortunately for the 30% of those not that way,they get screwed a la the george floyd incident. aren't allowed to do the job that needs doing. so,what you get is the type that gets in because they have nothing to sell but brutal overestimation of their own worthiness and a license to push people around any way they feel like.

No favoritism played on part of judicial system…. My man got hit with a cpl misdemeanors and one FELONY and got out within hours with NO BOND.

Me thinks plenty of dumbas on this one all the way around. Rich privilege golfer and some poor bastard that got pulled from his plush OT gig to direct traffic in the rain and got pissed off. 😝
