If you want to scout places to shoot go to google earth you can look around. But at the top there is a ruler. Click on the ruler and a small screen will open in the map. You can choose various measurements (mile, yards, etc) click on the yards and find a firing point and click.(you will have a small square) then pull your mouse out and a line will appear that will be in yards and you can find out how far it is to the next land feature.etc. If you have a gps you can write down the points to set up your targets.Pretty cool......... It's like taking a trip and not leaving home to find places to shoot.
You can print off the page then use it to make a range card. The elevation of your firing point will also be printed on the bottom of the page!

Re: Looking for places to shoot......a long ways

I wonder how accurate the elevation is on Google Earth

I have used it several times, & varified ranges, etc. & it's supprisingly accurate.
