Ashbury Precision Ordnance ASW300
APO is definitely on the move. Recently announcing a partnership with Savage, you can now get the Savage Model 10 with an Ashbury Precision Chassis. The SABER®-FORSST® chassis system is probably the best known APO product. I have been a fan of the Ashbury Precision Ordnance Chassis for quite some time. These premium quality chassis offer the end user a lot of flexibility when it comes to upgrading. Although the complete chassis is one of the more expensive stocks out there, you can incrementally upgrade the system keeping the cost in line with the competition. You can check out the Savage with APO Chassis below.
The Asymmetric Warrior® (ASW) rifles are very well known in the ELR and ULR shooting circles. Their 375CT is highly sought after by shooters looking to break the 2000 yard barrier. The smaller caliber models don’t get as much attention, but that should change as they are well worth the cost of entry.
I have seen their 6.5 ASW rifles in action, and they are top notch performers. During the 2016 Sniper’s Hide Cup Ashbury Precision Ordnance sponsored a squad of Junior Shooters. It’s well worth mentioning the support given back to the shooting community by Morris & Matthew Peterson. Their charity work and sponsorship is second to none.
Asymmetric Warrior® line is a custom precision rifles designed to meet the demands of the tactical rifle shooter. Available from .223 to .50 Caliber, there is a model out there for everyone.
Manufactured in the USA from aerospace grade alloys. Not mention the composite materials, these rifles are over engineered in the best way possible.
Our ASW300 shipped with a Pinnacle Series 416 Stainless Steel fluted barrel finished with an AAC Titan brake to 24″. The barrels are engineered using the APO proprietary B.A.S.E.D.™ barrel engineering software. With an 11-degree target crown and 5R rifling. The ASW300 has a 1-10 twist rate. During our testing, we were shooting the RUAG 220gr 300WM ammo. We enjoyed a sporty muzzle velocity of 2845fps out of this setup giving us great hits on steel.
We registered sub 1/2 MOA accuracy out of this rifle, from 100 to 1600 yards.
Standard Options from APO
All Asymmetric Warrior® precision rifles have an ambidextrous paddle lever magazine release, and select models use an AMBI-TG (trigger guard) release. Asymmetric Warrior® rifles are equipped with Magpul M1AD modular conformable hand grip sets and are adjustable for both hand grip angle, and for grip-to-trigger distance to obtain proper shooting hand position and trigger finger placement. ASW rifles are coated with a rugged, dull non-reflective finish that meets MIL-STD 810G for corrosion resistance. The standard rifle color is black with the forend in its natural carbon fiber also in black. Optional colors include Flat Dark Earth, Nordic Gray, and OD Green. ASW rifles are simple to maintain, use no bedding and are maintainable in the field by the user with a simple SABER® Field Multi-Tool or the complete Snipers Field Tool Kit.
Make no mistake; these are custom built rifles designed to exceed the owner’s expectations.

On the Range
This rifle was instrumental in filming our Danger Space Video as well as our ELR Wind videos. Getting hits on target was almost too easy. The consistent results make me look like a Rockstar on the range. The way some people use creative editing to make something look good is deceiving. I am happy to report that was not the case with the ASW300, TRASOL Data was spot on.
We doped this rifle out to distance, plugged the data in our TRASOL Ballistic Solver, and compared our results with two different set ups.
Originally the ASW300 was mounted up with a Nightforce BEAST Mil based scope. After using this set up for months, we switched to a S&B 5-45x Scope that was adjusted in MOA. Swapping this critical component in the middle of the review had no negative impact. The data remained the same resulting in reliable results on target regardless of the optic used.
Combined with an LRA Bipod, the rifle was a breeze to shoot. Normally I am not a 300WM fan. I would much rather shoot a 338LM over the 300 as I believe the recoil differences suit me better with the Lapua Magnum. When you look at this rifle and its design, you can see in the video just how manageable the recoil was. The custom made APO Limbsaver helps too when shooting a 300WM.
If you want to put this in context, watch the video above.
Top Tier Rifles
Precision Rifle shooting is not cheap. Using match ammunition vs. surplus is not cheap. The cost is understood when you enter the precision rifle world. The main complaint I hear regarding the APO series of precision rifles revolves around the price tag. Retailing around $8500 puts it on the upper end of the spectrum. I am well aware of the competition and the cost differences. I cannot spend your money for you, but feel you are getting your money’s worth with the Ashbury ASW300. They have a lot of time and engineering built into this rifle. If that escapes you, then I recommend going with your first choice. But if the custom nature of this product is understood, I can recommend the ASW300 to anyone reading this article.

The Ashbury Precision Ordnance ASW300 is an underrated rifle. It has renewed my faith in the 300WM by delivering excellent accuracy out to distance. It’s user adjustable with toolless features, and very comfortable to shoot. It’s definitely on my Top 5 list of custom precision rifles.
