Flooding in TX Hill Country/Kerrville

I've disabled these alerts on my phone because they would go off in the middle of the night for south Texas when I'm in Dallas.

That’s when you WANT TO KNOW!

Suppressors Mount or direct thread?

Hey guys. I have a question regarding my YHM R9 and its direct thread mount. I figured I'd ask here rather than start a new thread.

Instruction manual says to tighten the DT adapter to the barrel "hand tight only." Problem is, it keeps walking. Hand tighten, shoot 5. Tighten again. Shoot a mag, check it again. Paranoia kept me checking it, until I got to a point where I quit checking it. 200 rounds later, it came loose.

How much torque can I use to tighten this thing? Why does yhm say hand tight only?

I'd assume 20-30 ft-lbs, but, don't want to assume anything.

My 427 blower motor project.

Since your oil pump is belt drive, consider tuning a low pressure safety that will kill the engine incase it chucks the belt.

Tuning a "throttle by wire" throttle body could work. Tracking drive shaft speed co related to front wheel speed to close the throttle body when the drive shaft exceeds the front wheel speed curve. Or if strictly drag racing, just pull a ton of timing out of the launch, not necessarily a 2 step.

Many of the pro drift cars tune the throttle to close at higher RPM to keep the engine off the rev limiter.
I rigged a low oil pressure switch to a shift light pointed right at my eyes. After an oil pump failure that I just happened to catch before airing out the engine.

We may finally know who’s been to the island

Is this case/issue another sample of how winning, works? Just asking for those who have a different connotation of that word
If you are the gov and wanted his assets, then yeah you are winning.

Yay, somebody CraCkED tHe cOdE, every time she lies she's not wearing the cross. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

10/22 Scope Questions

So, I finally have jumped into the 10/22 game and feel like I am at a loss for what to do as far as scopes go. All of my optics up to this point have been pretty simple (BDC built into the reticle), all centerfire cartridges.

I am not sure where to start here, as very few scopes seem to do BDC for 22 LR. I'd imagine it'd be difficult because 22LR ammo is so varied.

Doing an MOA or MIL scope isn't a big deal, but many optics companies have dedicated rimfire scopes. I haven't been able to figure out a difference based on spec sheets, other than LPVOs having shorter parallax distances.

How much does this matter? Should I get the rimfire version of the scope? Or can I get really any scope with a MIL/MOA reticle I like?

I actually have some centerfire scopes: A Primary Arms and a Vortex LPVO, but they are committed to other rifles. I am kinda going backwards from what I assume most people do: I have other rifles, but am getting my first 10/22 to teach my kids, and have a potential pest control option.

I would prefer a scope to teach them, and when I went to look at scopes for them/me to use I felt kinda lost in what to do. Several vendors offer rimfire-specific scopes, and I wasn't sure if that mattered.

I will say, while I really appreciate the Nightforce recommendations, they are solidly in "my wife would kill me" price territory. Was hoping to find something cheap-ish, and this question actually spawned from looking at the Vortex Crossfire and Burris Fullfield LPVOs, as they have rimfire and non-rimfire versions, but I noticed several other vendors also have rimfire versions of non-LPVOs (ex: Primary Arms).
Ok, reading through this thread kinda shows the wide range of uses for which a 22lr can applied. It sounds to me like you're getting into a very plain Jane rifle for very general use, to include teaching your kids to shoot with it.

I think that any new shooter should learn to shoot with open sights and graduate to either a red dot or magnified optic.

Regardless, in keeping with the topic, a 10/22, absent significant upgrades, is far from being a precision rifle. It has a relatively short useful range, depending on the size of the target.

I stay away from dedicated .22 scopes. The BDCs are very generic and the scopes generally suck.

The perfect scope for a general use 10/22 would have been the weaver v3, but you'd have to find one used. In general terms, I'd be looking for something with a simple reticle in the 1-4x or 1-6x range. These scopes are intended for use from close range out to several hundred yards. No need to worry about whether the scope will focus at close range.

What I would consider a premium option would be a steiner P4xi. These can be had used for under $500.

The lower line Leupold scopes are also small, light and well reviewed for their price.
