I had a wisdom tooth that needed to be extracted this morning. Went to the dentist this morning. As the woman dentist was getting ready I casually asked her "After you pull that tooth, can I have it?"..... She stopped suddenly and looked at me and asked "Why do you want that tooth?".... In a somewhat evasive voice and body language. Being the smart ass I am, I replied "I want to make a necklace out of it"...... Then the defensive posture really took hold..... Her reply "Due to Government regulations it must go into the "Bio-hazard" bag"...... My reply "Oh, the Government, huh".... Rather than get into a pissing match, I let it go....

My question.... It seems that as long as my tooth was in my mouth it was not a bio-hazard. When does a tooth get classified as a bio-hazard? Is hair clippings , nail clippings, snot, etc a bio-hazard.....

With each passing day I become less of a fan of the Government.

Oh.......I think there are just plain a lot of pussies out there that think it's easier to bullshit their customers than it is to run afoul of the "government".......

Find a new dentist for future needs. Let her know on the way out the door for the last time as to why. She has ceased to be an asset. Fall divided, or stand as one.

I actually have all the teeth that I have had extracted haha for just that reason one day!

I take it you were in pain/it was impacted? Because if you had it pulled just on her say so as a precautionary thing maybe she was afraid you would take it to another dentist for a second opinion? Why no my tinfoil hat is not too tight its just right why do you ask?

yeah maybe covering against a 2nd opinion. or perhaps you had a gold filling? sounds like bs to me, certainly as a kid my parents kept them.

I had ONE wisdom tooth impacted at 19.

They pulled all four. "Because."

I assume to this day it is to identify your skull if they want.

Anything else is lamer than that.

Fuck them. "You cannot chew on these molars if we pull them." Lame as shit.

Skull identifictaion-yes. Fuck them and the horse they rode in on. This was 19 for me.

Just an opinion on how they play the game.

Sounds like your dentist is a pussy. My cousin had hardware removed from his sternum before going to the academy and he has it on his dresser.

Id wrap my self in those bags rather than have another impacted wisdom tooth heck Id wear an industrial trash bags if I was not sure the family would lead me to an elevator shaft and push me in . Nothing says true love like family trying to cash in on life insurance .
:oops::giggle:
impacted wisdom teeth and
passing a kidney stone
and burns not fun no matter how hard you try good luck at least you will be able to tell the dentist exactly what you think of him to his face while he pulls your teeth and just before you pay the bill .

If this was while you were in the service it was done for a good reason.

See the military likes to plan ahead, it would suck to be in combat and have an impacted tooth or two.
Just because

Fuck that. I have all my teeth in my mouth, but my best friend when he had his pulled tied one of them to his hunting hat as a reminder of the wisdom of hunting instead of working all the time.
Fucking Bio Hazard, what have you been putting in your mouth???

She was fucking with you so that it would stay in your mind longer than needed. She succeeded.

so its not a bio-hazard if your tooth gets knocked out or falls out on its own...but its a bio hazard if the dentist pulls it out?

the govt doesnt own my body....if it comes out of me, its mine, and if i want it....for what ever reason.....i am entitled to it.

you should have told her you need it for religious reasons

They send those pulled teeth to the secret labs where they practice putting tracking devices in them.
Nothing to worry about.

Edit: ummm yeah they really don't do that. Voices in my head told me that I needed to deny the above post.

My dentists offered me mine. i told him to throw that piece of shit in the trash.

I had cyst cut out of my ball sack one time. The doctor is like, "do you want to look at it." I am like, "man, you just cut that thing out of my ball sack dock. Fuck yea, I want to look at it."

I knew there was a reason why all those CIA dudes went to dental school...lol

Why do I smell almonds...

Shit man, my ER doc gave me the staple removal tool when he pulled 18 staples out of my head...
Me : "That's kinda cool!"
Doc: "You want it?"
Me: "Hell yeah! Easier than getting them out with dykes!"
Yes I removed a few myself.

As a military dentist I can confirm. If I'm in there shucking one I'm taking all four so you are only going thru dental surgery once. Nothing sucks worse than having to medevac a good soldier off the top of a mountain in A-stan shorting that platoon manpower for a completely preventative reason like an impacted partially erupted wisdom tooth that becomes infected.

If they are partially erupted they go. If they are fully impacted and below bone they stay, and if they are fully erupted and in functional occlusion they stay. Pretty easy.

I had 3 impacted wisdom teeth. Had all 4 pulled at once by a student dentist. Local anasthetic. I asked for them, and they gave me all 4. This was 30 years ago.

Ice on my face NEVER felt sooooooo goooooood.

I must be the dumbest one on this forum. I'm almost 60 years old and have never had a wisdom tooth pulled. Never been told by any dentist that they needed to be pulled. I also have only had 1 cavity in these 60 years too.

Well if you're going to claim the title, we won't argue with you.
Uncle Sam took my wisdom teeth with the quickness after I got to my first duty station. I only had two.

Nah, I'm right there with you. Still got all mine too and we get along just fine. They dont bother me so I ain't gonna bother them.

I'm not sure what that dentist was talking about. Some things have to go to lab for pathology, but I have given parts back to people. My wife had two teeth pulled and she kept both of them. Their could be something in regulations, but I doubt it.

I have all mine. Every time I saw a regular dentist in the Navy they would refer me to the oral surgeon to get them pulled, and every time the oral surgeon looked at them I would get something along the line of "I can pull them if you want, but those teeth are perfect." I always told them I was rather attached to them.

When I was in college I worked on groundskeeping with an old man. One day he pulled out of his pocket something wrapped in a handkercheif that looked like a cue ball. He showed me the smooth side and the other side was rough & pitted. It was his own hip bone from when he had it replaced.

Another time, years ago when I was in Korea the 1st time a ROK Army CPT used to take me to a bar to practice his English. This really old Korean guy at the bar had this little shriveled, dried up ring of meat in his hand. It looked like a bit of beef jerky. He was laughing, kissing it, showing it to everybody and generally being very funny. I had to ask. It was his own foreskin. He had recently been circumcised for some reason.
