Well I have been wanting a 4” Blued Colt Python for 30 plus years...well today my dream finally came true and got a 1974 barely used one from Gunbroker and here it is ?

Nice. A Python is one of my most regrettable gun sales. Fifteen years ago, before prices on them went nuts, I got a 6” bright stainless factory ported gun in near mint condition including box, papers, etc. awesome gun but I flipped it a few months later.:(

Other regrettable gun decision was when my local shop in the late 90s found a mint HK P7M10 for me; again, it had the box and all papers. I looked at the slab of steel they added to the top of the slide, laughed and said “no thanks”. I could have bought it for $900.?

life is too damn short to want something for 30 years and not just buy one. nice pistol!

i picked up a 6 inch python in trade once, but i made the mistake of shooting it side by side with my 586. i found out why the “python killer” moniker was created.

the python was cool, no two ways about that. almost grabbed an anaconda when they made them, i was debating between a usp and the anaconda. chose the usp.....THAT move i kicked myself for ever since. one thing you can;t take away from colt...the value on them holds.

Back in the 80's had a acquaintance get rid of all his firearms, he was begging me to buy his python for next to nothing.
Of course I did not buy it, back then they were everywhere.

They say that the pythons were very accurate because Colt would push a steel ball through the barrel, or something like that.
Enjoy it.

Damn, December 1980 on our way to Dutch Harbor for crab season stopped in Cold Bay for weather reasons. They had a 6 inch blued Python that had been there for a while. I had a wad of cash in my hand 300 plus. I asked the lady if that was enough. She took the wad and handed me the box. Being 18 years old, I traded it for 5 or 6 kegs of beer about 6 months later.
Thats my python story. Somehow it still makes me chuckle.

My father pre-inherited me an 8” nickel Python a couple years ago. Back in the eighties he got a hard on for pythons and bought one in every barrel length available (from our local grocery store that sold sporting goods as well).
I love it but with Colt shutting down the custom shop, it will see rare firing and then with 38’s.

He’s 89 and still sitting on the snubby, 4” and 6”, and I pray that I don’t see them for a long, long time....

Here's a nice Snake find.

Here's a nice Snake find.

I almost bought a 4” Elite from him I did talk to him and he was very nice. The 3” are going for a lot more than the 2.5”

I bought some finger groove grip from eBay and they arrived today they are gorgeous I like them better than the originals.

One gun I regret letting slip through my fingers was an early HK P7-M13 that was issued to me when I was on a shooting team. Complete with four extra (5 total) magazines.

Beautiful firearm and congrats on getting one. My dad picked up a nickel python several years ago for a song at a pawn shop. Has wanted one since he was kid. Glad to see another happy python owner.

Yet everyone forgets the Diamondback, .38 special, you will never wear one out. The Pythons' little brother, hell, Steve McQueen used one in the Classic Bullitt movie!

Very nice...I have to admit I am a bit jealous. While I don't really "need" any more handguns, there are a few I would really like to own. Among them are the Python, S&W model 58 and 29 (pre lock).

The python is put away but here is it’s bigger brother in a first edition. Still unfired and has been in the safe since it first got here from Colt. ? It is a sickness!
