Going for my first time on 04/14 to spectate. I anticipate shooting as often as my work schedule will allow (not terribly often right now, but hoping that changes soon) once I get my setups finalized.

I have not. Generally hit BLM land where I can hang steel and shoot in peace and quiet away from "ranges". Been to Avery a few times for square range things like establishing 100 yd zero, getting velocities, reminding myself how poor of a shot I am with a handgun, etc. For those that have been please post up how it was and if it is worth it. I wasn't too impressed when I checked out their website a few years ago, but I hear that it is under new ownership now.

Shot there since October......best range I have been to and your gonna love it. Seriously, pull the trigger. I schedule my range time a month in advance to avoid headaches. I didn’t even make it out of the parking lot at Ben Avery. Got back in my truck and left. BLM is ok but to many idiots with no clue doing stupid shit. Cowtown, I almost always have a lane or platform completely to myself. Trying to work out a range in the trees to shoot for summer.

Did they re-build the movie sets that burned up a few years ago? It's been probably 12 years since I was there.

Still a few buildings there but their boarded up with no entrance signs. Referring to the ones on top of the hill. Don’t think they rebuilt anything.

What is going on there on the 14th? I looked at their website again and it didn't mention anything. perhaps I am on the wrong website. I don't facebook so perhaps I am missing some cool shit near me.

Their website leaves a lot to be desired. Email Johnny or Glenn.

That place is a wonderland of steel to bang on inside 800 yards. There’s often a target off the back of their property at 1000 yards. The shooting platforms are very nice and they’re all shaded. They have a very sane set of rules, and you can do anything reasonable there. I bought my dad a winter membership there this year and went with him twice. The membership fees are well worth the money.

Not a fan of their pricing at CowTown. For strictly LR shooters, their pricing isn’t fair.

$5.21 for a two hour window seems pretty reasonable......based on a winter pass.

$250/6 months and then you pay extra to use the facility. No thanks. K&M precision has a membership and amenities that is reasonable and should be a standard for all LR.

It’s actually just the $250, 4- 2 hr sets per month with two guests at no charge. No facility fee’s added with rules that make sense. If you want extra time you can get it at a discounted rate and most importantly it’s members only. Scheduling can sometimes be a pain in the ass, you may not always get the lane or platform that you want but Glenn who runs the range is as straight up as they come. Show me a range that provides live rounds on one side and paint ball on the other.....there ain’t one. They have a simunition kill house that I haven’t seen elsewhere. Plans on the books for a 2 mile platform. Name a discipline centered around firearms and training is available. They have their imperfections but head and shoulders above most IMHO.

It looks like we disagree and that’s fine.

No worries at all amigo. K&M isn’t in the trees at about 5000 elevation is it? Looking for a place to shoot that’s a little cooler in June. As dry as we are this year their going to shut down the tree line with hunting only.

I was at K&M in September so I’m unsure of what the temp is in June. Alt is about ~450ft. I’m hoping I can swing by there on a road trip. Their movers and towers are pretty fun.
Here’s a pic of the condition I had in September.

Does cowtown have RV parking? It’s like a 2hr drive for me and it might be a good excuse to get an RV.

That’s a hike and I see why your skeptical. They have a good chunk of space just beyond the concrete barrier entrance but I am unsure of the rules for RV’s. That would be a Glenn or Johnny question. Where is K&M anyway? There is a range in Young that is a members only at about 5000 that I’m going to investigate. Also one in Payson but if it’s so busy you can’t get meaningful time behind the trigger I’m not sure I would be interested. I’ll post what I find out about Young?

Thank you. Do you have to sign up for matches thru FB?
Yes we do, well there’s a link for Practiscore sign up, it has been quite popular and we ran out of spots last match (66) so if you do want to participate please sign up early when we post it.

We list our matches on the Precision Rifle Series website under the club series as well and the link for Practiscore is on there so you don't have to get a Facebook page if you don't want to. ;)

@LH_Gina , Thank you. Mattsnuked helped me out a lot also so kudos to him. I am registered thru the practiscore for May's shoot and looking forward to it. I am certain I will have tons to learn and hope to meet some great folks.

You can search AZLRPS on google and see the Facebook page by clicking on it from there, which will have the posts for matches, so you don’t have to actually sign on to FB (I’m not a fan of FB either).

I’ve been to a couple matches there at Cow Town and really like it! I’m not a member but I have been lucky enough to go out a couple of times to practice with someone who is, and if you have the cash, I recommend becoming a member.
