Crye Precision Apparel Blowout Sale

You're welcome.
Apparently this sale was posted on Soldier Systems several weeks ago and crashed Crye's website for a few days. That and apparently, some pricks were buying up all the inventory they could to then resell it on eBay at a profit.

Caveats for dealing with Crye:
Customer service is not as good as it should be - lack of support for items that have clear sewing defects. This was on a full-price combat pant.
Shipping costs are high
Shipping delays- weeks before the items are shipped....not cool considering shipping costs

Ditto my experience. I have two sets of their combat trousers, and a third I gave to my brother because they didn't fit right.

Customer services is poor (at best), and responsiveness is glacial in this day and age of e-mail.

Since then I have been using Kitanica and Vertx products. The Kitanica stuff is friggin' bomb proof. Their marketing tag line is spot on; "Overbuilt in America".

I ordered a pair of the combat pants - thanks for the tip. Their website sure is wonky - I ended up ordering a 28 long only to realize I could have ordered a regular - I guess I can always have them hemmed.

you might have an issue with where the kneepads are placed for you (too low) if you hem them

better to call them during business hours and change your order or cancel unless you're sure you want the long

Yeah - I think you're right - thanks. I did send send them an email asking to change the order to the regular length but based on what I'm reading here a phone call is better call.

Good luck. I tried calling and they never picked up the phone. E-mail response was like a week later with a "Sorry, your order has already been processed." Only to get a shipping notice three days later saying it was ready for pick up. Fuck Crye (and their shitty CS), there's better options these days.

I placed an order the last week of April, just called and they are hoping to ship the 16th of this month. What???

I know that Crye P is not Botach or Optics Planet, but either they have the closeout stuff or they don't. 3-4 weeks to ship something in stock... usually a bad sign for me.

They were polite about cancelling the order so I did. It was exciting to get the sale price, but I'm always wary of doing business with companies that can't ship when they supposedly have the product in stock. Even a company as large and known as Crye.

I think Crye got a little big for the britches when they thought they were going to get the Army contract for multi-cam. That and their government contract sales, they see individuals as something really not worth their time. My last sentence from my post still stands...they've gone the route of PTG.

Yup - got the same email - looks like sometime late this week or early next - or about 4-5 weeks after I ordered them. I assumed closeout meant overstock - guess not. I'm in no rush and curious to see if they're as good as their reputation.

Got my Crye pants -finally. Damn, they are nice. Got the knee pads too. I ordered 28R and thought they wouldn't fit but that's the closest they had to a 30/32 - they fit great and even have a clever adjustment for the knee pads so they hang in the right place. No idea how they'll hold up but they look well made with lots of functional features.

Yeah, the knee pad adjustment is pretty clever; it's nice to have the adjustment without something wrapped around the back of your knee when squat/crouch. Their CS sucks, but they do make some decent gear. I just think there are better options out there today, for those of us just using these pants for PRS/NRL type matches.

I've used Mascot pants for a while for shooting. Tough as hell but they definitely don't fit as well or have any of the adjustment tabs like the Crye.

At $98 I don't think there's a better option - I ordered another pair.

What are the better options?
I've been running Kitanica pants lately. Frigging bomb proof. Their new "Raider" pant replaces the ASP (All Season Pant) that I've been using (adds knee pad pocket). Tough as nails and a well thought out design. Also American made. I have their Mark IV jacket as well, another "Overbuilt in America" item they sell.

Can't say enough about their durability and functionality.

does anyone make pants that are as functional, but dont make you look like a tacticool wannabe?

Vertx. It's what I wear for office work, where the tacticool look raises eyebrows with some.

What other options are you talking about?

See my above posts, Kitanica for rough environments, and Vertx for office/light duty wear. Both are great options (especially for tall, lean guys like me that need 36" inseams but still have a 34" waist).

I wear Crye at work (issued). Where can you get away with wearing the Kitanica, and not the Crye? I'd feel pretty self conscious wearing that Kitanica outside of work, and at work as well, unless they issued it.

I'm a defense contractor, so we don't get issued stuff. If I'm out testing stuff in the field I wear the Kitanica's. If I'm in the office, doing paperwork or just dorking with prototype equipment, I wear Vertx. Not a lot of my peers used to wear cargo pants, but it has gotten pretty common these days, as people (mostly civilians) realize how much more comfortable and utilitarian these pants are, and that is has little to do with looking "tacticool". Form follows functions so-to-speak...

Don't get me wrong, I have two pairs of Crye pants, I just can't stand the shitty CS and lack of communication.

Copy that, makes sense
