CZ to build in Arkansas

I lived in Arkansas near the Air base outside of little rock for a number of years and I can say with absolute certainty that the best thing about Arkansas is the view in the rear view mirror as you are leaving for good.
That’s what Bill and Hillary said also.

Hi,

Wonder why they are bailing from Kansas?

Did they have a 20 year tax reduction plan from Kansas (1998-2018) and Kansas did not want to renew or extend it?

Being the Arkansas facility is classified as a "Port"..maybe they intentions to have it declared a foreign trade zone and be exempt to some export taxes along with not having to pay import taxes on any product until it actually leaves the "Port"...that can be lots of savings of out of pocket money in raw materials taxes.

Sincerely,
Theis

Typically Arkansas isn't very business friendly, so they must've worked out some sort of deal. Walther is over in the Northwest corner of the state too. Personally I feel that if you get much farther south, of say Independence or Van Buren counties your entering into the asshole of the state.

Do they actually manufacture anything in Kansas? The one I am looking at is imported.

 Hmmm. Former soviet subjects making decent quality firearms vs un educated american rednecks... It's possible that there won't be a reduction of quality, but I'm not optimistic. If they bring the 527 production to the US I'd better get the ones I've been thinking of getting sooner than later. I don't care about the scorpion and other pistol-like objects, if I'm honest.

No different than Remington building in North Alabama

I was a LEO in AR and the first and only time I ever saw OVERT racism was living there. First time I ever saw kissing cousins as well, except it was brother and sister. ?

Or you know when you go to the restaurant and there is the father and young daughter having a lunch looking like someone just got out of a seedy motel......

After a bit of research looks like the Gov.'s office has been trying fairly hard to get companies to relocate here, he did convince Sig to relocate their ammunition manufacturing here as well. Gave Nighhawk Custom some kind of grant to expand. IDK, maybe he stole CZ from Kansas?

It was my experience living fairly close to the Remington ammo facility that all it did was drastically drive up the prices locally.
I prefer and really like the Rem 45acp 185 grain HTP ammo for carry, it really has some zip and stopping power.
Best prices I could find locally was at or over $40 a box but ordered a case from LAX ammo from Louisiana for $199.

Never considered that, but I live about as far from L.R. & Lonoke, as you can get and still be in Arkansas.

Hi,

I am pretty sure they only do warranty repair and maintenance at the current Kansas facility and import all the complete firearms.

Maybe CZ has unspoken plans to relocate the Dan Wesson facility in New York under the single roof in Arkansas..........

From brief research...it appears the new Arkansas facility Phase III is going to be scale-able to actually manufacturer a specific model(s) that CZ feels the desire to offer for USA .gov contracts.

Sincerely,
Theis

Maybe it was an isolated incident but the Rem rifle ammo although I don't use it was pretty high as well, I moved out about the time they were getting the Sig ammo facility up and running so not sure if it was the same situation there.

I have a friend who is a Chemical Engineer who worked for Remmy at the Lonoke plant. He told me Remington is run by intellectually challenged individuals. Most times their pricing is ? just look at how they price their budget 10mm auto, and .303 British ammo. He did say they sometimes had good deals in the Pro Shop at the plant, but I have never been in there.

Right. That's what I mean. Remington has no quality control beyond "will it fit in a box to ship?". Their products are nearly junk which is why people are flocking to Tikka and Ruger. I generally like the CZ 527. It's a decent product with reasonable fit and finish, not a single piece of plasctic's used, their triggers weren't designed by a pack of lawyers, and they generally shoot well. One I got didn't and they replaced it with one that did shoot well with minimal pain on my part.

When I buy a rem 700 I weigh the price against the myriad of parts that I expect to have to replace to get it to do what it should have from the beginning, which is why I no longer own a Rem 700.

So again, what's likely to happen to a decent CZ product when its production's moved to Arkansas? Seems like a dubious proposition to me, though I hope new machines and processes churn out an even better product. Time will tell.

The governor has been working hard to get more industry in Arkansas. I am proud he’s trying, I know he’s tried to get some automotive industries but lost out to other south eastern states.
