how many here would NOT buy from then anymore? There's Right, and then there's Wrong, and then there's BestNOTBuy Wrong.

In what universe is "security guard" synonymous with "aid'n an' abett'n"? That is just ludicrous.

I seriously thought they went out of business years ago.

Oldest kid worked in retail right out of school.
Saw people clearly shoplifting.
Management said not to even talk to them.
Company policy.
2-3 weeks later they'd show up for refunds on the shit they had stolen.
And we wonder why shit is so expensive.
Many years ago helped a couple of guys apprehend a shoplifter.
He couldn't out run my street bike.

When my sister was 16 or 17 working at a clothing retailer she apprehended a shoplifter out in the parking lot with a hammer. There was discussion of potential charges. It all worked out.

I understand how pissed people get with reports like this but would you really want the 'Security Guard' mistaking YOU for a shop lifter?
If one grabbed you and you took him out what then? $million dollar suit?
Real cops sometimes make bad stops, and you WANT THAT SAME AUTHORITY given to a mall cop?
Their job is to apprehend little girls and take them to the security room.
They get a radio, not bullets, mace or a Taser for a reason.
At best buy the Geek Squad gets paid more than security. There's a reason.

This guy was a felon on a warrant. If he had started shooting then security would have just aggravated the situation that the cops couldn't contain in the first place. For every time a Mall Cop does a good thing, how many do it wrong?

No shit.......place is "retail plus". Haven't set foot in one since I don't know when. No reason to go there.

BTW, anyone following the Sears dumpsterfire ? The big store @ Bellevue/Redmond/Overlake in WA closed down. I tried to buy a washer in there and some parts for my riding lawnmower. Essentially, they wouldn't sell them to me. Every excuse in the book. I walked out, knowing full well they were in a death spiral. The complete lack of any sort of coherent management was obvious. Sorry, but not sorry to see them go. The problems were obvious. I think the upper management were simply scavenging the last few pieces of meat off the bones and didn't give a shit about trying to turn the place around. They were probably all shorting the stock.

I'm sure insurance companys and lawyers push businesses to create these rules but they don't have to fire the employee, just a slap on the wrist would suffice.

Yeah, C/C was the home of the $199.00 6 foot HDMI cable made by "Monster". Only reason you won't find one at that price at B/B anymore is they can't get away with it. Otherwise, you know they'd try.

"Best Buy" has been a place to avoid going to if you can, for a very long time now.
I'm not sure how they actually still stay in business.

They always want to sell you that Best Buy Protection Plan (at least that's what they told me 5 years ago when I was last there).

Best Buy Protection Plan = Not physically going there and anywhere on the Internet except bestbuy.com generally!

If you eyeball Fry's you can find some good deals sometimes. On some things they are ridiculously priced though too.

If he had taken off his BB jacket and done this as a Citizen then BB couldn't say anything except dock him for a few minutes 'off the job'
Best Buy will probably catch enough flack about this that they rehire the guard with a raise. Maybe the Sheriff's office will give him a citation just to embarrass the store.
Many businesses have all kinds of policies that don't make sense.
Like not grabbing tits, or carrying a gun while on the clock (but it was just a leetle gun).
When you have flexible rules like it's OK to grab this customer but not that customer, 'but he hit a COP' or the lady just went off the deep end on her baby daddy, rules get confusing.
If the bad guy didn't run out of the store, was the guard already outside?
Was he waiting to ambush a shoplifter?
In the video I saw a deputy chasing the bad guy. If the deputy was down and his life was in danger it would be a whole different story.
That said, corporate ought to review this, and change their decision, and concentrate on guards that grab shoplifting teens.

Wasn't that far in the past they would've given this solid employee an award for his actions.

I love Best Buy. I compare brands of whatever I'm looking for and decide on the best option. Then I go home and find the best price online and order.

A lot of companies are this way. Almost don’t even prosecute shoplifters. They are scared of repercussions if they stop anyone. They just hike up the price on their products to adjust for the loss from theft.

Go shoplift at worst buy, u wont get stopped or arrested...
However, re-adjust your balls in the parking lot, u be arrested b4 u can drive out the parking lot, bc the liberal confused gender manager thought u were sexually harassing her.
But officer, it was a crab that hopped off her/it.... its her/it caused it in the first place...

I sell guns. If someone grabs a gun and walks out we are not aloud to touch them . It’s happened . Twice now. Wish I would of worked those days.. Two guys tackled a guy stealing one time. Both got terminated. We are told to “customer service them”. Joke. How about rear naked choke followed by handcuffs and a jail sentence. Getting fed up with the politics of big name retail stores.

Where y’all been. I’ve been hating Best Buy for at least 10 years.
