For some time I have growing less enamored of Facebook for many reasons. Today I finally bowed out and deleted my account. There are too many reasons for my reasons to list them all out. However, I strongly suggest to anyone who values their privacy and personal security to consider doing the same thing. Next will be Linked In.

Make sure you really read the instructions on how to do it. There's even a waiting period, which if you log back in during it your account will re-activate.

They don't make it easy for obvious reasons.

Lol, welcome to the early 2000s when that shit first came out, and it was obvious it was a scam even way back then.

And for whatever reason, I recently decided to create my own, knowing all that I know. Public page where I post shit that I care about, though here lately, I seem to be on a "stop voting for democrats" kick. Damn near every one of my friends on facebook is a constitutionalist. The majority of the folks in my friends list, however, are democrat family members.

Hell, I just offered one $100 to watch this video:

Easy done. Never had one.

Im of the generation where everyone does too.

This is my internet presence......

Even the other Apple founder made a statement to this fact, it was on Fox today.

I just deleted my account for the 4th or 5th time last month, this time permanently. Every other time I had come back to reactivate it. A long time ago I stopped following almost all of my friends because I didn't care enough of what they had going on, and I just used it to follow pages or companies I actually enjoyed. But it was a major waste of time, also was tired of the constant ads and whatever other privacy bullshit Facebook liked to fuck with. I'm now completely free of all social media. Now I just need to rid myself of this phone, all I did was replace social media with a news app and this site lol

I have a Facebook account, though I rarely check it. I’m not too concerned about my privacy as I don’t post anything I don’t want everyone to see. Occasionally I see something interesting that an actual friend posts. Match directors use facebook ALOT, so it is a good vehicle for staying current on upcoming/past matches. Most of the time it is nothing but vapid, uninteresting, virtue signaling posts. The ads that I see are almost entirely firearms/outdoors related. There is some irony there.

Maybe I should delete Facebook. I could get back about 10 minutes of my life every month.

Although, I feel that posting about deleting Facebook is one more avenue of virtue signaling...

I don't have any social media accounts but I do look at some of it to keep up with what the enemy is up to?

It took me multiple attempts to establish my Facebook account without using my real name.

Sometimes (and that is the operative word) I check my account just to see, if anyone has figured out who I really am. Only my wife knows - and when it becomes common knowledge, I will just delete the account.

When I am told I should just check out Facebook for the information, I tell them they will have to use some other source to let me know what they think I need to know.

I really don't need Facebook - at all - for any reason - period.

There are two types of people in the world: those who delete Facebook and those who make up excuses not to delete Facebook and then use those excuses publicly to justify their continued use of Facebook as a means of self-validation

I never joined any of those platforms even though I live like 30 minutes from all the various HQ’s. I don’t see any good coming from sharing the details of my deranged life. I do enjoy it here though, as I can get titties, guns, and comedy in a relatively anonymous format. No need to plaster pics of my ugly mug either!
FWIW, anti-gun Zuckerberg has armed security outside his residence in the city I used to work for 24/7. When he runs in the morning (it’s actually pretty amusing watching the little dink run) he has an armed guard running next to him and a chase vehicle with another armed guard. Ironic much?

we probably need an Op Sec Thread

You are known by facebook

If you understand that you can be identified by your voice pattern and style of speech- just as babies know their moms by the voice

The inter web knows each of us by the words we use and most importantly- How we Type

How we type is something that gives us away in as little as 500 words.

Words we spell wrong
Speed and cadence of typing
How we type some words. Where we pause or don’t to double check spelling in our minds for weird words

What words we use
What words we rarely or never use

If you type into google or Facebook, they know who you are pretty quick

Yea I got rid of mine last year, I was spending too much time on my phone... Funny how I found another online activity to fill the void.. at least this is productive? ?

I must be THE most "unconnected" person in society. I've never had a F.B. account. I just never felt that I needed to have the phone/computer stuck to the side of my head for hours on end. I use my phone to call the wife and let her know "I'm in a ditch somewhere and I'm going to late for dinner", I don't need to "Google" a bunch of crap, it's for emergencies. Don't drive down the road yak'n either. I do belong to a couple of "Forums", but I can shut-down at a moments notice, and do something else more important/fun. Mac
