We should keep track of all the impositions on our freedom that government has implemented over the last few months. In the long-run, we can't accept the "new normal" as normal.

Please add to the list as you see fit.


1. Forced closure of "non-essential" businesses
2. Chicago - threat of arrest by mayor Lightfoot for using public land.
3. Anne Arundel County, MD - forced wearing of masks while shopping or at work.

No protest allowed.

Medical professionals publicly stating disease treatment should be denied to "Trump Supporters." I've yet to get a refund from my insurance company because treatment might not be available based on my political beliefs.

Let me Segway from that last too a pet peeve of mine. Every year 400,000 Americans die and countless others suffer needless complications from hospital caused infections. This does not "just happen" it happens because medical professionals are too lazy to do the work necessary to prevent it. Well now that they are frightened that they might be the ones getting infected now all the sudden no precaution is too much. I'll bet that all the gear they suddenly found time to use is saving a lot of patients. I pray that someone (trial attorneys pay attention) is tracking current infection rates so that when these slobs go back to their old ways they can be sued for the pain, suffering and death they cause.

what i really hate are local, state and national parks and the like, that 'we the public' own and pay taxes for and on, that are closed and gated for public use. i can understand bathrooms, visitor centers, public campgrounds and the like, but not the parks and trails etc. they gated off the closest AT access point where folks will literally be miles away from each other, but you can park to your heart's content at walmart, costco and grocery and home improvement stores...

Like rationing in WW2, like the draft, like curfews, the current inconveniences we suffer and the limitation of our liberties are a necessary part of living in a civil society during times of war or emergencies. I consider it patriotic to proudly do what we must for the greater good of this country and our society. And unless there is any rational and reasonable basis to believe that our liberties (and God forbid your creature comforts :rolleyes:) will not be restored in due time, then folks need to sit down, suck it up, and stop bitching like little pussies. That being said, if the time ever came where it was necessary to fight tyranny for our liberties, I will be by your side ruthlessly fighting to the death. But until that time comes, take off the tin foil hat and start acting like a man.

Can you give any probable time frame for "due time"?

We are still taking off our shoes to get on an airplane, right? (I don't know. I don't fly anymore.)

Did the form 4473 go back to one page (front and back) yet? Will it?

Do I still need a passport to get back into my country from Mexico - even if I have at least three other forms of government issued identification?

I think COVID-related restrictions and limitations to some degree are reasonable until a treatment is available. I have no idea how long that will take. But with the entire world focused on that, and with so much at stake, I'm sure it will be as soon as humanly possible. Until then, I expect restrictions to be loosened and tightened depending on the capacity of our medical system to deal with the sick. And during that time, I view those that "ignore and defy" social distancing rules as a direct physical threat to those that are most vulnerable, such as my parents and older family and friends. If, for example, the idiots protesting only got themselves sick, then I would fully support their decision. But they will get themselves infected, spread that shit around the community, infect those that have to interact with those vulnerable people, then go to the hospital and take up resources that will be needed by those that did not chose to "ignore and defy," and many of the innocent people they directly or indirectly infected will die. We are at war. It sucks, and it will continue to suck. Embrace the suck and lets get through this.

The real answer is no.

In actuallity, if you are claiming U.S. citizenship, the burden of proof is on the U.S. to prove you are not a U.S. citizen.

Will you be hassled...definitely. But if someone is a US citizen and has resided here for any substantial length of time, all it takes is a very short question and answer session to determine citizenship.

Will you be sleeping in your bed that night? That depends entirely on how far you take being a dick about it. Remember, there is no 4th amendment protection at the border.
