Huge sale on Elcan scopes

Seems like the Nightforce nx8 does everything an Elcan does for less money

Apples to oranges. Both are great optics and the 1-4 elcan is the same price as the NX8, but you’re going to spend another $400-$500 on a good mount and BUIS with that NX8 that the elcan has built in.

The elcan is a smaller/lighter package overall, the batteries lasts forever it seems, and on the 1-4 model you get a 6moa dot on 1x and a 1.5moa on 4x.

To say one is better than the other is inaccurate, but one is better than the other for certain applications.

Mine came in Tuesday, I haven't had a ton of time to play with it but I mounted it and shot it a little Tuesday and so far I'm extremely happy with it. There's no POI shift going from 100 yard zero on 4x and 25 yards on 1x. POI at 25 yards on 1x is about 1.5" low from POA as you'd expect from an optic on a AR zero'd at 100. Zero left to right change.

I get absolutely no fish eye effect on 1x and the FOV is great, appears to be a true 1x. Love the way the dot illuminates and how it's a generous 6moa at 1x and 1.5moa at 4x which allows for a reasonable level precision.

You essentially get the benefits of a RDS and an ACOG in one package that's roughly the same size as a TA11. It also looks amazing behind thermal on both 1x and 4x.

The only thing I did was remove the tenebraex ARD it came with and toss it in the box because I found it annoying seeing the honeycomb through the scope, especially on 1x. Unfortunately I never received my tier 1 operator so I don't really need it anyway.

There's a few LWTS here for around 6000 for a blem to 8500? for a perfect one. There was a T50 on ar15.com for 3000. Someone bought it lol.
I know where's there's a UTM X for sale also
Or you could get a refurb PVS30 for 5
Or you could be big money and just call TNVC and buy new.

3-4k is doable but 8 to 16 not so much. I don't normally check out ar15 but I'll have to keep my eyes out.

Just get a Simrad for 2000 if you aren't going to be using it much and need more definition in your arms.

Speaking of old school. I have a PVS4 full kit with gen 3 tube. Indestructible $1500.

I have a ps22 just need a clip on thermal. Getting ready to sell my current one.
But apparently I don't have any updated pictures and we're hijacking This Thread anyways lol

I owned one about 6 years ago and loved it! I wish I would have kept it. Damn eyes are getting where I need reading glasses now though so I need optics with an adjustable diopter. I would get another one but I am afraid it will appear blurry. I sold my last one to try the Swarovski 1-6 which I liked better at the time but different optics.

too bad they are so expensive, the 7.62 models seem underrated by people outside the military.

Some more Elcan porn. I finally got my LMT MARS-L stripped lower and all the LMT lower parts (except SBA3 brace, magpul grip, and Geissele SD-E trigger, Geissele super 42 buffer) to complete my full LMT pistol.

Loving this Elcan on it, it was the perfect optic for this gun.

"Pretty much the *most expensive* carbine optics you can get...

There, fixed it for you.

:)

Premium optics are never cheap, and you can spend far more than what these things cost. There's even some ACOGs that run more than these and those are fixed power. The quality and reliability of these things are phenomenal. Apples to oranges but a ATACR 1-8 would run you a grand more, a S&B short dot is $700 more, the 1-8's are as much as twice the price. So you can certainly spend more, and I have but for different roles.

If you want an ultra reliable combat type optic these are hard to beat. It's basically an Aimpoint and an Acog in one.

Acog rmr is a cheaper, lighter and faster option imo. Once I replaced my elcan with an acog rmr I never looked back.
