They won't get many who will actually work for the living. I say, let them sleep in the bed they are making.

Feed them a steady ration of what they're asking for.

They'll gag on it, just as California is already doing. Disaster relief to California is simply Welfare State Support.

Not news. Only leftists work in govt. East of Kane County, here in the DPRI. No doubt they have infiltrated west too. Only difference this time is they included the (usually) unwritten requirement.

I can think of a lot of things to do to make those township trustees' lives living hell.......

Safer to do that in Iran than when hanging out with our "friends" the Saudis, surprisingly enough.

That article is a little deceiving. It sounds like the position was vacated by a Dem. If so, by Il township law, the Dem precinct committee party leader is the one who appoints the new person until the next election. If no Dem steps up to volunteer for the position, then it goes to the Rep precinct committee party leader to do the same. If no one steps up, then it goes to a ‘special township vote.”
Back in 2009, I got very involved in our township. Mainly, because the road commissioner was a piece of shit and not doing his job...at all. The deeper I got involved and started having citizens attend monthly and annual meetings, there was some foul play uncovered involving missing township funds. As a result, literally, everyone on the board resigned. From the Supervisor, clerk, road commissioner and all the trustees. All were Dem’s. This is how I found out about the filling of vacancies mid-term.
