I will miss John much. I have memories of where an want was going on when listening to his music. Always played his CD's while traveling to an from many places close & far over the years. May you rest in peace John, I will miss you everyday.
I was in highschool school back in 2007 when I got hooked on John Prine. It was around the same time I took a 2 week trip to Alaska with my grandparents. I listened to a few of his albums on repeat the entire trip.
whenever i think of John Prine I think of that amazing trip.
Really sad that so many aren't aware of the songs he wrote.
"Please don't bury me Down in that cold, cold ground No, I?d rather have 'em cut me up And pass me all around" "Throw my brain in a hurricane And the blind can have my eyes And the deaf can take both of my ears If they don't mind the size" "Give my stomach to Milwaukee If they run out of beer Put my socks in a cedar box Just to get 'em out of here" "Venus De Milo can have my arms Look out! I've got your nose Sell my heart to the junk man And give my love to Rose"
Bonnie's numerous renditions of Angels of Montgomery is an enjoyable YouTube journey, she's really done those lyrics justice over the years. The early version you posted 1974 to this 2019 performance and all those in between....
Damned communist virus. I never saw Mr. Prine live. When this mess is over and folks start performing again, I'm going to see as many folks play as I can.
Saw him 40 or so years ago in Savannah. Didn't know he had a new album out in 2018 - The Tree of Forgiveness until I was reading about him just recently.
