John Prine, RIP

I was in highschool school back in 2007 when I got hooked on John Prine. It was around the same time I took a 2 week trip to Alaska with my grandparents. I listened to a few of his albums on repeat the entire trip.

whenever i think of John Prine I think of that amazing trip.

I was so bummed when I heard the news.

Really sad that so many aren't aware of the songs he wrote.

"Please don't bury me
Down in that cold, cold ground
No, I?d rather have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around"
"Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size"
"Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just to get 'em out of here"
"Venus De Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junk man
And give my love to Rose"

Saw him many times at the Earl of Old Town way back when...Poet and story teller par excellence. RIP JP.
Bonnie & John;

As a side note, Prine had survived 2 go-rounds with Cancer.

crap.....this covid shit is really starting to suck ! I loved J.P’s songs.

even though he’s not singing this one, he wrote it and I think Bonnie does a great job covering and does it justice,

RIP John

Bonnie's numerous renditions of Angels of Montgomery is an enjoyable YouTube journey, she's really done those lyrics justice over the years. The early version you posted 1974 to this 2019 performance and all those in between....

Please pardon me for the Colbert exposure.

The duo version with John Prine....

Fortunate enough to see him live. Wish this shit would have taken one of sonic trash generating pop stars instead.

Listened to his music since the '70s. I'll need to hear some today. And John, if you would, get that band together before I show up.

RIP John,

My dads name is John Pryne.... I used to have people ask me if I was related to that guy

Damned communist virus. I never saw Mr. Prine live. When this mess is over and folks start performing again, I'm going to see as many folks play as I can.

Saw him 40 or so years ago in Savannah. Didn't know he had a new album out in 2018 - The Tree of Forgiveness until I was reading about him just recently.
