Deep down, I understand slapping a TT525 isn't going to make me better over what I am currently running -- but that horrible addiction to have the finest optics, both mechanically and optically has me really thinking I need to own a TT. With that said, do you think the Price of the Gen2xr is going to fall with the release of the G3 coming? I'm really hoping a guy could get into the Gen 2 for sub 4k.

From what I understand the Minox ZP5 tac is a very very close match to the To but comes with arguably better reticles. How about a Minox instead?

Thanks for the input Vargmat. I owned a ZP5 for a brief period of time and for some reason, which isn't the case for most people, I just didn't get that wow factor from the overall optic. I'm splitting hairs and being very picky here. Although the glass was great, I just didn't get on board with the "feel" of everything else on the optic.

I had a buddy that got a Minox early on, at the time I had a Razor G2 and while the Minox had nicer glass, I liked the turrets on the Razor better. I have used a PM2 for the past 18 months now and I still like the Razors turrets better, but everything else goes to the pm2.
I never had a chance to look through a TT, but if it's like a Minox then we are really talking minute differences.

How do you experience the difference between the pm2 and the Minox?

I always feel like I'm going to offend people when giving my opinions about optics, but I'm not biased toward any particular brand. I think they are all great performers. With that said, If someone were to offer me a choice of a ZP5 and a PM2 5-25, I'm going to go with Schmidt and Bender.

I would have to say the same thing. My gut feeling is that if a Minox did not cut it for you, neither will the TT. And the Minox reticles are way nicer.

I am simple. S&B gets the job done. NF is great. No matter how much “better” a scope can get I simply have no use for it.

I misstated my position. My current scopes exceed my needs, expectations and abilities. I would be fine with a "better scope" but doubt I would benefit from it's "improvements."

If you are jonesing for a TT - do you feel an emptiness in the pit of your stomach? when you think of owning one do you salivate a little and have to swallow, does your conscience hurt from the unsatiated want - than in the end the only thing that will satisfy you is a TT.

Save your money and search the PX here for one in the price range to satisfy your Jones.

A true "Jones" wont go away with an alternate.

You may "settle" but there will be a nagging in your mind wondering what could have been. You will end up spending money on "the settle" than spending more money on the source of "the Jones".

The only way to end a true "Jones" is to buy the item or if you get to actually use the item and find it is not what you expected of it.

This is my primary reason for not looking harder at a TT. I prefer my Minox to my S&B. Optically, both are incredible, with the Minox being a little better to my eyes, but what separates them is the MR4 reticle. The MR4 offers everything I want and need. I have the Gen 2 XR in my S&B and it's a very good reticle, but the MR4 is better suited to matches, so the TT doesn't really offer me anything the S&B doesn't. I admit I haven't seen a TT in the wild, so I haven't been able to spend any time behind one, but my feeling is it doesn't offer enough of a difference to make the $1000+ difference worthwhile.

Agreed. Getting frustrated with the TT reticle choices. It's reputed to track perfect and have phenomenal glass, but several other high-end manufacturers offer that, with better reticle selections and less $.

However, from a consumer-psychology perspective, are you sure you would desire one so strongly if it was deeply discounted? That "addiction" would seem to suggest the answer would be "no". That itch can only be scratched by a TT.

Was really into fine Swiss timepieces for a while and found myself doing the same thing there. Ended up realizing that for me, the time keeping itself was my thing, not so much the mechanism, so I ended up happy with a relatively inexpensive quartz that keeps time better than any mechanical certified chronometer, through more abuse.

Over time, came to realize that for me it's the same with scopes. Bullets on target is my thing, not really so much the instruments that allow that to happen. If my super chickens actually worked, I'd be chuffed and done looking / out shooting.

So perhaps it's all about what drives you? The high-end equipment itself seems an important part of your thing, so short of a Hensoldt ZF 3.6-26x56 Sand, the TT is a superlative choice. I'd bet once the new reticle is out, you'll find a used TT no problem.

This.

I’ve compare the two side by side extensively. If the Minox didn’t cut it for you, pretty sure the TT won’t either.

I do know that you want to call CS Tactical for either though. :)

The TT looks very impressive until one sees the price tag and reticle choice(mostly reticle)...

Came close to buying one, but went with a NF 7-35x56 Tremor3 instead. Better reticle and the 1000$+ i saved on it didn't hurt either. If they had the gen3 ready i would probably have bought one.

If you really wan't one and have some spare cash and can live with the medieval reticle, just go for it. :)

Get the TT525P. Nothing else with satisfy you. The TT IS that much better. And it is a sickness....an addiction....a yearning.....a need. I get it. I got it too.

Very well put Sir. I have to admit, I have chased the more pricey items as well.

There are lots of scope brands that track perfect as the OP stated he wanted but who doesn't I remember when the new vortex was the want now its NF 7-35 I run a USO LR17 GAP reticle love it

save your money and get the new IOR Recon 4.8-30X56, just an absolutely amazing scope.
