Dang, I imagine those will be top notch. It would be interesting to see how they compare to the pre-fits from Criterion and Shilen that are most common for Savage rifles, specifically in terms of barrel life (the Shilen and Criterion both shoot great groups still).
Geeeez, right when I was planning on selling all my savages! Ugh.
My new non savage action I ordered takes savage pre fits as well as a few other rem 700 footprint actions.
My savage treated me well but I’m moving on but I’m not leaving the barrel nut behind.

Maybe this will convince them to make a cut rifled barrel. Probably not, but one could hope.
When Krieger spun them off into a separate company they would have been foolish to not prohibit this in the agreement but crazier things have happened.
Many criterion buyers probably won’t pony up the extra $$ for the Krieger.
I think Krieger got in because of the actions like ARC and Bighorn that take savage tenons/threads.
I had no idea they were actually somewhat related.

I think your line of thinking is accurate for many shooters. That 140 buck savings is 25% of a kriegers cost, Im not so sure the cut rifling will get an extra 25% in barrel life over a button barrel but Ive been wrong before. I guess Ill find out.

I was pondering a custom job on a krieger or mullerworks recently but I decided that I couldnt tell the difference down range based on my current criterion so I went with the criterion again and saved 140 bucks.
I think your line of thinking is accurate for many shooters. That 140 buck savings is 25% of a kriegers cost, Im not so sure the cut rifling will get an extra 25% in barrel life over a button barrel but Ive been wrong before. I guess Ill find out.

My last button rifled 260 barrel(Shilen)went over 3000 rounds.
I abused the crap out of that barrel and it’s still a sub MOA barrel but lost some speed and has to be cleaned a lot more often now.
I seriously doubt a cut rifled barrel would last 25% more or shoot 25% better.
Like optics it diminishing returns but what you do get for that money is better odds of getting a hammer.
If Krieger wants to offer prefits, they should have the info online to see what's available. Playing phone tag is a waste of time.
I talked to one of their reps today, he said they won’t stock the prefits but treat them as an order item. I also asked him about shouldered prefits and he said that there isn’t enough demand for Surgeon barrels and I laughed and told him about TL-2’s, TL-3’s, Defiance etc and told him to go look at the wait times from PVA and Bugholes before deciding that there isn’t enough demand and he got really interested.
This guy you spoke to wasn't aware of the number of actions using the same threads as Savage? Maybe they need some new help
You’re doing god’s work. On the shelf direct buy shouldered barrels from them would be incredible.
He was mentioned the TL-3 but I don’t think knew that Bighorn did a run of TL-2’s with the 20tpi barrel tenon.
For that matter Impact Precision can't keep their pre-fits on the shelf long enough to be constantly available, despite that being their whole goal.
Has anyone plunged for a Krieger Savage pre-fit?

My factory Savage barrel nut's skirt has an ID of ~1.071".
This Krieger barrel's OD just in front of the threaded portion is ~1.076".
I contacted Krieger about the situation. They said they based their Savage pre-fits on the "standard Savage barrel nuts".
FWIW, the Bighorn barrel nuts have an ID of ~1.071" as well.
I contacted NSS - they have barrel nuts with a skirt ID of 1.084". I am pursing that solution ?

I like my barts and kriegers, but I'd be lying if I said my shilen or criterionsdont shoot as good.

Same barrel at 1700yds, the 2 low shots were adjusting elevation to get on. After that it held vert good, but the 2-5mph ate me up.

I just spun a Criterion 6br together. Rounds 36-40 went 1” at 200 with no load development. I’m sold on Criterion.515 from keirger, the same price that bugholes would run you for a krieger savage prefit (355+160)
