Are you selling the original chassis then?
Badass project with Phil and the MPA guys. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Daaaang! Now that's cool. Being stuck with the AI chassis is the only gripe I have of AIs.
If you ever decide to part with it I will buy it.
not interested in selling the original chassis or the new setup. the original chassis would be useless to anybody not shooting an ai because of the square action. it's my understanding that phil will have this as a inlet option very soon
Did MPA just replicate the "bottom metal" of the AT to ensure reliable feeding? Is the action bonded into the chassis or just bolted in?
not sure what they did. i should have my hands n it early next week. it will bolt in, there's no need to bond it
How much lighter will that final rifle be? I ask because I have been looking at the MPA for my Tikka .223 (I also have an AT) and the BA chassis I think is like 5.2 lb which is lighter but only a little bit than say an AICS chassis which is around 5.95 lb. I ended up going with the MPA BA Lite folder which is more like 3.5 lb.

give some input on how you got the action out of the original chassis. Pictures would help. I might do mine.
Set a clothes iron on the top of the scope rail and let it get hot and melt/soften up the glue
That really does look like a sweet setup!!
I haven't seen the AI chassis but I would imagine you could put it back in and glue and be just fine if you decided you didn't like it?

Looks like the grip that comes standard on MPA chassis now.
Reading this has me scratching my head a little.
First to the OP thats really cool and I love outside the box aproaches. Any comments I make are not to be critical of your project but talking through some replies.
Seems many myself included dislike the stock ergonomics of the AI but love everything else. If a person is willing to unbond an AW or AT from the chasis would the actions not fit in the Badger inletted KRG or Manners stocks? I suppose trigger could be the issue with that.

The AT lug and quick change setup won't allow it to fit a chassis inletted for any other action but that doesn't mean the chassis maker can't do what mpa did. Talk to your chassis maker and be prepared to wait. Mine took 4.5 months.

It won't be released until it's been thoroughly tested and I'm a firm believer in trial by fire so I'm shooting a club match next weekend and 1 the following weekend then sending it off for paint

MPA lists the competition chassis as 5.2 lbs. I'm having a hard time finding the exact weight of an AT AICS chassis but EuroOptic lists it as 5 lbs. So my guess is the finished AI-MPA will end up weighing around the same 12-13 lbs as the factory AT.

Resurrecting this. Any more feedback from anyone putting an MPA on an AI AT?
