Night Vision New from Pulsar

It has potential, as it's only competitor in the market is ATN, and they suck.
Battery life would be a concern for me and maybe some day soon, pulsar will add a shuttered eye guard to their NV and Thermal scopes ?????

Very interesting. Looks more like a stepping stone though. I want a magnification ring and exposed locking turrets for .1 mil adjustments - then it'll be truly impressive to behold and make it a 500m plus scope as opposed to the hog blaster they are now.

Perhaps its early days and its more advanced than it portrays, but at this stage it appears to just be a Apex with a more traditional aesthetic targeted at the market share that doesn't want a futuristic box affixed atop their Model 70.

Interesting the 320x240 model is listed as a 12µm sensor as opposed to the 17µm 384x288 sensor used in all there other lines...

The way I'm reading it there are two "or"s so it would suggest it's four different configurations off the bat. If it's only 12 micron with 320 res then there would just be one "or"

Took a second, but I see what you mean.
I would think overly complicated to offer two resolutions with the addition of ALSO offering two separate sensor pixel sizes. Definitely a possibility now that you’ve pointed that out.

But still leaves the fact that their current lineup utilises a 17 micron sensor in 384 - not 320. So interesting to if it’s a different maker.

Well I'm drooling!! If the battery life is good this would be awesome. I have a Helion XP and the image quality is insane.

As for the "or"s, if they only offer one lens size then the magnification options will be determined by the choices in detector. They would have four magnification options with two detector sizes in two different micron pitches. Makes sense.

I can't believe they stuffed everything into such a small package. Can't imagine that the battery life will be.

ATN claims that The Thor 4 has an 18 hr battery life before charging, so maybe Pulsar has the same ?

The LE rep I spoke with said they shloud be just above the pulsar trail units in price. Guess we will see though.

So . . . will the new tech like color palettes and 12 micron at 640 make it to the Trail XP series? Looking forward to the Shot reviews.

I'm out if it's just an internal rechargeable battery. I'm all about removable batteries..they fail eventually. Currently when I'm out hunting, it's sun down till sun up, 10-14 hr battery life is cutting it too close for me.

When these release, be sure to talk with Tom over at Nightgoggles, he will beat any on-line advertised pricing along with Hide pricing. :)

Any idea of recoil rating Vic? Disregard just saw that it's .375 H&H, 9.3x64 and 12-gauge capable.

With a magnification of 5.5-22 I wonder how good it would be for longer range work. Say in comparison to a NF 5.5-22

The Thermion XP50 640x480 @ 17 µm (older model XP50 Trail equivalent) definitely has piqued my interest! I love how they fit standard rings as the old QD mount for the trails weren't very reliable and had some reports of POI shift, so I think this might solve that issue. The standard rings and traditional scope body will help a lot when mounting it on standard rifles from .22s to higher caliber bolt guns. I saw a review at Shot Show where they gave an actual down the scope view and the resolution was very crisp and nice. It actually has an internal battery like a cell phone, and also a RECHARGEABLE hot swap battery that is actually the elevation knob, very nice versus buying a lot of CR123 batteries. The windage knob also houses the USB plug for video download as well as charging while it is on, which opens it up to the already available rail mountable extended battery packs. It also has a dual (two at a time) hot-swap external battery (elevation turret) charger, could hook it up in the truck (field conditions or hunting). Overall looks like a winner to me, the stadium lines and game (animal) ranging capability are actually pretty nice too, not as good as a rangefinder, but you can't really have something like that unless you're running a Silencerco Radius or Wilcox Raptor, etc due to night condition.
