Just got an email from the nra that Yeti coolers will no longer sale their products to the nra foundation. There was no reason given to the nra as to why they wouldnt be a vendor anymore

Guess this is probably another company to add to the growing list of folks not to do business with

Alert: YETI Drops NRA Foundation
DATE:April 21, 2018
TO:USF & NRA Member and Friends
FROM:Marion P. Hammer
USF Executive Director
NRA Past President

For years YETI Coolers have been a hot item for sportsmen at the Friends of NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction events around the country.

These Foundation events raise money to support youth programs and educational programs nationwide. The youth of America who benefit from these programs are the future hunters, hikers, fishermen/women, bikers, campers, wildlife photographers, mountain climbers, sportsmen/women and conservationists who will protect our natural resources and recreational lands.

Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn't sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed. They have declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities. These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy
outdoor recreational and educational programs.

The NRA Foundation is 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization.

In this day and age, information is power. We thought you needed this information.

Considering they sell a bit of an overpriced product that trades on the brand name, primarily to people who are probably sportsmen & probably are either NRA members or have friends / family that are, it's going to be putting themselves out of business.

Not too many Earth worshiping, Vegan, Progressive SJWs drive around with Yeti coolers.

I just sent them a very nice email requesting they reason for their decision. I pointed out how many of their products I own and how I give them as gifts at Christmas, and door prizes at the office. I don't think they know their customers.

Just sent them a message and won’t be buying their products in the future.

They must have made too much money “Designing in America” and having Chinese slave labor produce the raw materials and assemble $300 coolers and $35 coffee mugs.

Great marketing program right up until yesterday.

Lots of other options including similar or better insulation and build quality... (or an $8 foam cooler at the gas station). Maybe they’re playing some crazy game to devalue the company? Cause this is going to kill sales. Good for the NRA for calling them out.

Actually, looking at any information regarding why they would pull away, it is interesting that 3 weeks ago they pulled their IPO from the market. Now, when a company going IPO pulls back; it is usually telling of something.

The best reason is that they do not want to make their books public and have to abide by stresses placed on a public company by the Board of Directors/ Stockholders/ Mutual Funds... aka "the Street".

The worst can be a multitude of things:
1. All discovery of Supply Chain, Suppliers, Margin's etc...
2. They found something that they did not want to go public... somewhere in the book keeping.
3. Fraud, Criminal stuff that would be hashed out in the Audits... or known to someone in Sr. Mgt.

Now, I don't know anything about why they might have pulled back from the Street. But having analyzed business models and IPOs for years past.. I would bet it would be this:

"Yeti sells a brand. And that Brand Value is better suited to be hidden by the opaque shield of a non-public company." Once they go public, that Brand Valuation gets put into "Goodwill" of valuation of future return on "Brand" that almost never comes true... Why? Because there are at least 10 different Channels to market with comparable product and better pricing. They do not do anything better than anybody else...

Just my humble opinion...

But I would like to hear why they are pulling away from the NRA Foundation.

For anyone looking for an alternative to their cups, Harbor Fright has a decent one. I paid $5.60 for my last 20oz cup (with lid), with a 20% off coupon. That's about the same price Yeti charges for one of their lids.

Both of which made in China, probably on the same line. My cheapie cup from Wally World keeps my coffee just as hot as my girlfriend's Yeti does, the only Yeti product in this house and was a door prize she won. It's all the same shit, one is just Gucci gear labeled.

Thanks for the info. If you have never tried a yeti product or one of its knock offs then you are missing out. I have a R-tic cooler and damn it uses very little ice. Just saying the new technology works.
And yea Yeti is dead to me also.

Thanks for the info. I had thought that perhaps someday if I caught a good sale I might get one, now I know better

Hey guys, Pelican makes coolers that work better, cost less, are better built, and are ALL Made in America. And we all know Pelican loves gun owners, they still make the best cases around for our rifles. http://www.pelican.com/us/en/products/coolers

Fuck Yeti and their over priced Philippines shit, now only for hippies and Hoggs.

Beat me to it, I was gonna post the exact same thing. The original founders seem to be solid dudes but this probably had a big play in them dumping the NRA - “In 2012, they sold a majority position to Cortec Group, a private equity firm that brought operational experience, though not necessarily outdoor experience, to the table.”

You know REI sells Yeti coolers. Right next to a Starbucks and around the corner from a Bank of America branch.

If a bunch of Antifa brats can break windows and throw trash cans around, I wonder what some highly trained military veterans could do to send a message?

I know they sell yetis at Cabelas, I'm going to let Cabelas know what fucking dumb sumbshits yeti must have working for them.

Thanks to Yeti no one wants to steal my cheap POS igloo out of the back of my truck anymore. Several buddies have Yetis and have spent more fabricating cages to keep people from stealing it than the damn thing is worth.

I could not live with myself if I paid that kind of money for a cooler, and I will enjoy watching them regret this virtue signaling decision.

So my trusty Coleman cooler works just as good with one simple trick. Wrap it with a couple blankets for extra insulation. It works great on my summer Moab 4x4 and camping trips...it ain't rocket science.

The owner of Yeti is the modern day P.T. Barnum. He (or perhaps she) has convinced people it is not only reasonable, but cool to pay $500 for a plastic cooler or $40 for a cup. The only thing magical about Yeti is their marketing. Heck, tHey even found a way to convince rednecks to give them free advertising by plastering Yeti bumper stickers all over their trucks.

There are just as good options on the market for way less.....those options just aren’t marketed as well.

IMHO Yeti is simple - just don't buy them... Deleted further comment as off-topic....

Just dropped the following to Yeti on thier order question page..

"I would like to thank you for helping me to make my decision on my next cooler purchase by your choosing to shun the largest gun safety and training organization in the country. When you chose to discontinue your relationship with the NRA, you convinced me to buy your competitors products and to make sure that everyone I know involved in the outdoor shooting and hunting sports knows that your company does not support them."

Figured I'd make it as specific as possible to the loss they are asking for...I've got a Yeti, a Cabelas polar cap and an Orca in different sizes and all preform about the same. Now I'll just keep Yeti off the shopping list for good...honestly, I think the Cabelas cooler is the best of my bunch anyways

Send a comment to Yeti, whether you own their overpriced products or not

Here is my comment to them on the above listed contact site.

I am sorry to see your stance on the NRA. I own your colors and cups, as does my family. NOT ANY MORE. I have witnessed the recent assault on the NRA and the 2nd amendment, by many companies that I do business with. Or should I say “use to do business with.” Bank of America, paid off my loans and cancelled my credit cards. Dicks Sporting Goods, will shop elsewhere. REI, I can purchase my high end hiking goods elsewhere. Yeti, I can use other products to keep my beverages hot or cold. I am also an investor, but I will not own your stock if you ever try to IPO.

You have made a tactical error and it will be costly. Firearms are a religion to me and many others. Your products have just lost ALL of their value to us. 50% off sales won’t interest us at all. The word is spreading and we will only support the companies that support us.

If you have to have a gucci cooler try Canyon.
As far as I know they aren't pushing politics and they have superior products.

Always liked pelican better anyway. For hard core marine applications, the Pelican can't be beat.

Of course for regular keeping things cold for an afternoon or day why lug one of those heavy, bulky coolers around? Just use a coleman/igloo.

I think everyone willing to spend 5x what the cooler is worth for name recognition now has one. They're about done, can't afford to give NRA money or product for sponsorship, and are looking for a market with the liberal left. I predict bankruptcy in 12 months.

One can hope. If you’re right I’ll buy you a beer or a 18 pack we can keep cold in my tacticooler!

I’ve never felt the need to spend that much money on a cooler. But if I did I would go with the local guys USA made right here in Sparta, TN Orion brand. Same guys that make Jackson kayaks. They are just as good confirmed by guys that mow lawns for a living who’s coolers stay out in the sun all day.

I received a yeti tumbler about 3 years ago from a family friend for my birthday. He ranted how great they are. I looked them up and saw the prices of their coolers, and I guess I assumed they were made in the USA...Nope. Whomever up above said this guy is a modern day PT Barnum is spot on in my opinion. Just another bunch of spoiled brat jerkoffs who like their free labor and offensive markups. Fuck yeti in the ass with no lube.

Man talk about dumb.

Who the fuck does Yeti think buys their coolers?

People going to the park in need of keeping their wine cool?

Im thinking fisherman on hot boats out killing game fish who when its not fishing season shoot their guns at shit and perhaps have an AR15 or two they use to fill their Yetis with pounds of meat needing cooling.

Fuck Yeti.

And agreed that Yeti is over priced Chinese shit.

Asking Made in USA prices while using slave labor.

I still don't own a Smith and Wesson...

Whoa buddy. I have to interject here. Dont cut your nose off to spite your face.

Change that to "I dont own a Smith and Wesson post their stepping on their dick".

Dont deny yourself some fine used classic S&W revolvers from the 60s and 70s.

As cool as it would be to have an original Mod 29, only because I was a huge Harry Callahan fan growing up, I hold a grudge all to steadfastly to do so. Just ask my ex wife.

I begrudgingly went along with my girlfriend when she bought an S&W M&P 9C, only because she shot it so much better than my Glocks, Sigs, or 1911 frames. Small hand issues, I have none, but she does. I still haven't shot the thing.

I’m sorry....from the outside looking in:

You have a group who’s sole existence is based on never making progress but always pleading for $$, extorting another company.

At no point in all of this does the NRA ever take any guff for having supported Yeti over an American company like Pelican.

I gotta tell ya, I am giggadee about the prospect of folks packing their Yeti coolers full of tannerite and making youtube - it’d equate to that he/she who cries about Britany Spears....

I told Yeti what I thought in a non vulgar but direct way and here's their week-end response:
