If you are in a residential area or have neighbors nearby, look into shooting it wet if you want absolute quiet. First round pop is definitely a thing. It's still super quiet on a rifle, but the first round or two out of a 22/45 pistol or the like is louder than you would expect.

Thanks, I will check it out. For the time being I will be good, I don’t have any houses that close to me. Once they start building on the lots surrounding my place, then it will be a no go.

Play around with different ammo....even the subsonic (most match is). I have some Prime subsonic that is doing about 940 FPS and is really, really quiet in my Sparrow.

ZY

Squirrels is why I can’t wait for my 22lr can to clear, hoping for it by summer to deal with the little fuckers.

I should have the perfect vantage on them from my 2nd story and shoot down into my yard when they go on the ground.

My yard is constantly covered in shredded nuts and shit from them.

CCI quiets and CCI standard velocity are my go to for visiting the can at the range.

SV group really well out of a few of my buddies bolt guns as well

I am gonna do the same thing........when the wife is not home anyway. Gonna open the window, set up a position about 5 feet back with rifle in my tripod.....and start murdering those little bastards

I let mine get a little out of control and need to reign them back in. Saw a big ass bird fly off with one the summer before last and thought they might be kept in check after that. Sold my 22 but I was wrong.

Don’t get the CCI quiet that is 720 FPS. Wicked quiet but not powerful enough to down a squirrel. Regular CCI subsonic or Winchester subsonic which runs about 1050fps is still really quiet, about what a BB gun sounds like but powerful enough to down the squirrel.

CCI SV has taken many deer w/correct shot placement, but that size target is better served with the Aguila 60gr SSS

Bull. The 2 dead squirrels above and 3 dozen others the past couple months begs to differ. One shot and they drop right outta the tree.

Cci quiets are plenty quiet without a canView attachment 7028555

These two do a pretty good job herding them for me.
I have one tree left and the squirrel's always think the tree is safer than the fence.
Blammo
I used to launch them out of a laundry basket attached to bungee cords.
For the tough to kill bastards that gorge themselves on my bird food, there's electricity.
I insulated the pole and hooked it on the hot side of 110, around the bottom I used a 1.5 Sq ft piece of expanded grating hooked to the neutral.

Looking at this on a mobile phone. I had to zoom in on the pic...thought you’d photoshopped the face of a rabbit on the second dog!!!

Don't shoot em the the butt?

All my shots have been standing right under the tree. 40 yards may be different. Never tried that far
I nailed them right in the side behind the shoulder area and the SOB jumped up and ran off. I just started using the quiets when I got my RPR rimfire last week because they would never cycle in my 15-22 and when I went to zero they open right up after about 59 yards. Like someone else said, you can pretty much watch them drop. The CCI silenced is 950fps and they seem to work much better on the squirrels.

He does the same. They run down the fence to safety if I don't let him out. He's does a pretty good job of keeping them treed. He's the best squirrel detection system ever. Hear him barking under the tree I know to grab the 22

Yeah I'm not sure if I'd trust these to 40 yards. You can see in those pics both of those I killed were one shot behind the shoulders. Plus I don't really have any safe shots to take at 40 yards where they would be.

I had a squirrel crawl under a screen door gap between the floor,

he ate my organic bread with nuts and left crumbs all over, then he shit on my couch

These little commie bastards, once they get in the wire THEY SHIT ON YOUR COUCH!??

Yup. Exactly what I do.

That some solid squirrel operating. I have a decent manfrotto tripod, I need to pick up a hog saddle for it some time.

Tripod suppressed bolt 22 from second story would be ideal.

I’m with the other guy to, got to do all squirrel operations when the wife is gone and toss the little bastards deep in the woods so the dog doesn’t drag them back.
