Post pics of your rifles taken apart of you have them.

@reubenski

yeah, ive been on here before posting that im not a fan of guys trying to build their own rifle.

most have no idea about what is really going on inside and jsut how much pressure is contained

never mind the timing aspect along with sear engagements etc

with that...if i guy cant take out a few screws and 2 pins (in a 700 trigger)...he prob shouldnt be handling a dangerous weapon in general

with that said add in a savage or barrel nut with user adjustable headspace and the difficulty goes through the roof especially if the user does not have a sound background in "mechanical workings".

youtube only goes so far

if you mess up headspace, youtube doesnt fix your eyesight or fingers

Can you explain how an improperly headspaced bolt/ barrel cause detonation? And how many thou it takes to get there?
Funny part is YouTube (which I just mocked) is the best place to go lol

I’ll try and add ain’t later in today.

more so with reloaders maxing out a case than factory (because everyone who reloads thinks they can push it harder than the last guy on the last guy who posted on the internet).

they dont headspace it properly and the cartridge which is now over pressure to begin with has the bullets jammed into the lands. Possibly even pushing bullet into case creating a compressed load.

pressure spikes through the roof.

When will they be sold in 6.5cm?

Buy now and have fun shooting the bigger stuff.
Then next year you can get a bunch of conversion kits for manbun and other similar cartridges.

Unless you only ever want to shoot manbun and want to wait for it to come configured for just that next year.

But even if you mostly want to shoot manbun, don't you at least want to have some fun with the .300NM as well?
That's like the easy button for Long Distance stuff...

Bullet seating doesnt have anything to do with headspace. And going overpressure doesnt have anything to do with headspace either really.

if you screw the barrel to far into the action you are eliminating headspace and possibly "crushing" the case when chambered, both of those can cause huge pressure problems

You’re gonna have a hard time closing the bolt if you’re crushing the case enough to cause huge pressure problems.

I just don't think screwing a prefit barrel into an action is the big deal some make it out to be. I also think people have some false ideas about headspace and use it as a threatening bludgeon to base "chicken little" ideas.
You’d be surprised what supposed “change over” guys do on their first day and some times their last.

Never mind the whole metric/sae thing

and they were the good ones I hired away from local competition

I would assume buying a barrel from a reputable company that has good QC helps negate that in someway. Checking headspace is also another step.

Have em take apart the lower on a 22/45 to test their patience level

I had a guy bring me a Remington Nylon 66 in a Ziploc bag. Every pin, pivot, and spring was removed from the trigger group. It took me a little figuring to get that one back together. Wish I had a picture, it's a fairly complicated trigger group.

100%

how much do you want to be 50% or more owners of barrel nut actions don’t have go/no go gauges.

you guys are forgetting what out there lol

just look who’s in line the next time your at the food store

Oh for fucks sake, I could teach a 10 year old to headspace a prefit barrel with a barrel nut and properly torque it. I use a go-gauge and scotch tape on the back for no-go (as I was told to do by Dave Manson).

no one is saying it’s hard, or impossible to teach.

I guess you haven’t read most of the threads in this site. Lol

the “logic” some people spout is literally the exact opposite of the truth or worse yet reality …yet they double down when questioned by someone in that exact field

No. You're saying people shouldn't do it. And other people shouldn't recommend that others do it.
More or less…

more of been privileged enough to see hundreds of people over the years that went through my buildings.

faith in simple mechanically inclination (if it’s a word) has left me years ago.

Yet there exists a growing shouldered-prefit market and an already grown AR-15 builders market.
Exactly, the shouldered prefits and the custom actions are a game changer for many of us. The gunsmith or machinist can produce a product that the average person can assemble with a little knowledge and the correct tools. Hopefully we can get back to the intent of this thread and post some more pictures of of some disassembled rifles.
