Likely will be running MDT 12rnd mags. Possibly AW (if Zeus as Apollo is aics) if it doesn’t take a lot of tweaking to get aw working.

When you add in the full dlc, the price is basically the same.

So, which is the better choice? Anyone that had a Zeus with the updated smaller bolt diameter, can you run AICS mags with upward pressure without bolt binding?

What say you, why one over the other at negligible price difference.

I also don’t care about quick barrel change. Will be torquing on.

i cant remember off the top of my head, but if the only difference is the quick change barrel feature, i might would consider the full DLC apollo. I dont know if i trust the quick change system on those and the vectors. Anything short of an AI's quick change, im leary. I know DT's work well. Ive said in other threads, if i were in the market for another custom action, the Terminus line of actions would be at the top of my list, along with the ultimatum.

I just did a Deadline build in 6 x 47L. I'm very happy with the Action. I have it in a donor/temp stock (T2A), waiting on my new T2A from Manners. The mag latch will need to be fitted on the new stock, something I'm not going to do to the donor. I will be running AICS mags, but haven't crossed that whole bridge just yet.

I wish someone made a swept ai style bolt handle for deadline actions. Probably impossible since handle screws in to bolt body.

I've even thought about a threaded shank, one end deadline thread and other 5/16-24. Screw in on, find proper index, and heat and bend threaded part to mimic sweep, then add a glade armory rd ball knob.

They make the zues with full threads for torquing on as well.

    Basically, the difference is:

    Zeus has aw cut
Zeus has integral pic rail and recoil lug

Price is basically the same. I just want to make sure I’m not gonna have mag issues if I’m using aics.

I just used my Zeus at the best in Texas match a few weeks ago and didn’t have a single mag issue the entire match. I used an aics mag and I also used an arc mag with 2 round extension. There were a lot of 12 round stages. That match was mostly shooting off props so I’m sure at some point I had some pressure on the mag. I would prefer a Zeus due to the integral lug and rail. I also got mine with full threads and no quick change.

Joel is telling me that he machined in a stop in the Zeus action and combined with the .725 bolt, an aics mag will not bind with upward pressure.

I like it pretty well. But prefer lone peak/impact.

My Zeus is listed in the PX

You're not fond of the 60° what do you like better about the peak/impact?

The feel more “consistent” across the lift and close.

The rollerball gives a different feel opening vs closing and such. Not in a bad way.

I just prefer a consistent feel. My AI’s are 60, but are consistent.

If I was just starting on customs and had a Zeus, I’d probably love it. Pretty easy lift and it basically closes itself once you add a little pressure.

Ok good to know. I've had a vector with no issues sold that because of the hype got a zeus and I'm waitong for the smith atm. Was just curious. I have a tl3 and like ot but I like the zeus short lift and easy close. And you're right I'm new maybe that's why?

All about preferences. It’s pretty hard to make a bad decision on an action nowadays.

The Zeus is definitely and upgrade from a vector in a few small but nice areas.

I'm very interested to see how a lone peak or an impacts handles. We dont get those 2 that I know of in canada.

No trigger hanger in lone peak. So no I letting needed on some chassis the impact needs relief cuts for.

Impact seems to have a bit larger ejection port (strictly my observation from ejecting live rounds in each. Not sure if it really does. But the impact ejects loaded ammo better)

Impact seems to have a slightly lighter lift and close.

However, slightly stiffer closes makes the LP feel more durable. Probably both just as durable, but the feel.

Bolt feels slightly better running on the LP. Bit impact runs like glass as well.

what stock/chassis are you going to be running it in?

my buddy is running the zeus...still pretty new...in a MPA comp with accu mags and they bind a little but have not tuned them either....everything else has been running flawlessly.

I'm dropping it in a prs1 stock with mini chassis atm. Have a prs CTS on order that where is will end up.

you will most likely need to do some mag work...I ran an MPA mags ran flawlessly with a little tweaking when I switched to the prs1 with mini chassis I had to do a bit of work...the mags ride up higher in the prs1...or at least in mine.

Definately. I'll drop the stock off to him with my mads and make sure they all run well.

Insite Arms in Canada carries Impact if you are looking for one

Have them build the rifle too you won't regret it

Looks like they have alot of satisfied customers. Especially with the accuracy of the rifles built.

I know Gary sells lone peaks and you can definitely get the impacts through insite arms!

Gary from big horn? That's who I got the terminus from. He hooked me up nice on the zeus, a benchmark barrel and a triggertech diamond. Awsome guy to deal with.

yes sir that’s the one! Sounds like a nice build, you’ll like that. I’ve printed my best groups with my benchmark
