With all this talk of essential personal being exempt from the stay at home orders, who are they considering "essential" ? I guess as long as the power needs to stay on I'll be employed.

    medical personnel

    Bank Personnel

    Hi,

Pretty much everyone...just depends on how much degree of separation your local Government is going to allow.

    1. Health care and public health workers
    2. Law enforcement, public safety, and first responders
    Food and agriculture workers
    4. Energy employees
    5. Water and wastewater
    6. Transportation and logistics
    7. Public works
    8. Communications and information technology
    9. Other community-based government operations and essential functions
    10. Critical manufacturing
    11. Hazardous materials
    12. Financial services
    13. Chemical workers
    14. Defense industrial base

    Sincerely,
    Theis

In the dried fruit industry. You eat dried cranberry, blueberry, and apples, good chance my company packed it. We aren't shutting down, I think some of the people here were hoping for free vacation lol.

And the railroad will continue moving the coal to keep it on as well. We're business as usual, including a letter out to everyone stating our federal exemption to lockdowns, we're in our maintenance phase as planned last year with no changes, just difficult for us on the road with some fast food restaurants starting to close even their take out. Local refineries, mines, etc are still in full production, although the bottom coming out of energy prices has already started having an impact on oil and coal jobs. A drive across the Powder River Basin over the weekend shocked me how less than a quarter of the wells were operating.

Truckers hauling medicine, food, fuel and other critical loads are also exempt to the hours of service restrictions while they have a load on the back.

Oh! Let’s not forget the Marijuana Dispeneries...... they’re absolutely “critical”..........?
Denver is shutting theirs down tomorrow. https://www.denverpost.com/2020/03/23/liquor-stores-dispensaries-closing-denver-shelter-in-place/

We’re getting a bunch of emergency backup generators ready for rush delivery for a grocery chain....
Nobody has asked us to stand down in AZ, but I’m pretty sure we’re going to be exempt.

I was home watching my calving barn cameras Saturday. I called the road commissioner, (practically the mayor) and told him to run down to the barn and help out a heifer that was having calving difficulties, since I was sheltering-in-place per .gov’s request. He told me to get off my fat ass and do it myself. Not sure if essential job, or shitty road commissioner......

My lead asked me if I wanted to be listed as essential or work from home.

    Hahahahaha.

I like the fact that billboard leasing and maintenance is considered essential here... and lawn and pool care... what would Fairfield trustafarians do without their pool cleaners?! wtf.

I’m in agricultural r&d and I got a sweet printable letter with a bunch of nonsense that fancily says to get my behind to work no matter what any gov local to fed says.

pretty bummed I was stoked for a helluva turkey season

    Wife got laid off Friday.
I got told today I am getting a schedule change. Will be working Thur-Sat 6-6 with 4 hours paid at home.

Same here I've been deemed essential because all my work is in power plants and I'm on call pretty much indefinitely if any of our stuff goes down in my area which consists of 4 states. Besides our secretary, purchasing guy and myself, field tech, everyone else is going home for a while. I have to cover for several peoples job.

But the people at my company who are going home are still getting paid for the time being. I'm basically the skeleton crew for us and our Fab shops.

It’s a joke here in Illinois. Basically everything besides beauty salons and dine in restaurants....
I was pleased to see the anti-gun governor acknowledged gun stores were essential for defense...now if only he’d do away with the need for foid cards

That would be the first thing and likely last thing I'll agree with that scumbag on. Sure would like to see the fat fuck come down with wuhan while choking on a mouth full broken glass.

I service equipment for NASA, LAPD and defense contractors. I'm considered essential. Been awfully slow but I have a ton of online training that they are piling on me to keep busy. I'd rather be out working personally.

It would appear michigan left to many loop holes with its shut down. Construction is business as usual on our first day of stay at home order. As usual saftey first until it gets in the way of making money

Military industrial base here. Got my letter/get out of jail card on Saturday.

Construction is essential in TX. We haven't slowed down at all. If anything we are picking up. No traffic is awesome. other than that it sucks.

My employer decided we were essential because they make bicycle parts and its for "transportation". I do not work in the bike division but here I am back at work after having Tuesday, Friday and Monday off due to the shut down by the county, then the state. Something tells me we may not be here all week since the gov is cracking down in several counties here in CA.

Drug Dealers and Prostitutes should be on top of the list.

We manufacture pharmaceuticals, we are exempt......
    same here

people dont really grasp how many deaths will occur if the pharma guys (that everyone likes to hate) stop making drugs. there is only a few months of supply in the pipeline after that its down hill quick

I'm a medic in the army, I've been sitting at home since last tuesday......

The "essential" list is long and misleading. Once our local Gov made a list of "non-essential" business that list was very short. Ladies don't need to be out shopping, getting their hair and nails done, and eating out catching up with their Girlz.

That will change once that gnarly crotch hair starts growing from not being waxed like in the 60's.

Work as a PM on large commercial construction projects. Were listed as essential and has been business as usual since this whole shit show started.

I think Essential /Nonessential hinges on how the business is conducted.
Except in states that don't want guns and ammo sold in normal times, any business that can be performed while maintaining social distance is more likely to remain "essential" if only for financial benefit to the economy. Sell $1000 of ammo, keep some folks off the unemployment rolls.

COP: Sir why aren't you complying with the stay at home order?

    ME: I'm an essential employee.

COP: I've heard that a lot lately. [note sarcastic tone] So what exactly do you do that makes you so darn essential?

    ME: I make toilet paper.

COP: Have a nice day and please drive safely, sir.

Construction is shut down in PA, been getting some home projects done though. Wife runs a pharmacy so she's working, nice n quiet around the house!

I dont really want to be forced to stay home but collecting unimployment and getting projects at home finished is very tempting.

Defense industrial base/ essential critical infrastructure here. Got my letter yesterday even though I don't need it for Utah. Company hq is in Michigan.

I'm happy to report that my favorite store "Discount Drinks" in Farmington Hills, MI is opened today and has just about everything as usual. This store is certainly "essential" for my survival while I'm swimming in "troubled waters". Our MI governor is not my cup of tea, but at least she's not totally stupid as you would normally expect from any dems politician.

Most construction in California is considered essential. The vendors/service providers supporting construction sites fall under the umbrella as well.

Cities still have the option to close sites if they choose too. 90% of our sites are active as of today.
