Im just curious if you guys are paying inflated ammo prices?

Went to see a buddy last week. He had CASES of 9mm being delivered. Of course I asked.....

Handed me the invoice; his prices to purchase haven’t changed one cent.

😳

Yeah yeah I’m full of shit or you already knew the fix was in.

Every time there’s an opportunity the gun community eats their own. Still see PLENTY of ammo for sale. One local shop was bragging about their PALLETS of PMC Gold for $1k per 1000 rounds. 😂

Still sitting there.

I've bought a good bit of way overpriced shotshells. Didn't see a run on 20ga 7/8oz #8 at 1200 coming.
Sometimes you just gotta pay to move forward. I guess if im irritated with anyone it should be with myself and no one else.

My new hobby will be buying cheap ammo to flip. If you can’t beat em.....

I had a decent stock of 12ga. Son #2 shoots a 20. If I've got to pay $120 for a $55 flat of shells to keep him shooting, it's worth it. But it does suck to pay that!

Ive paid somewhat inflated prices for the couple calibers I shoot most, just to keep stocked up, but I shop hard and wont pay excessive amounts like the $4.00 around theyre asking for some stuff.

I have completely stopped buying ammo and have urged others to do the same. Let that ammo pile up for 6 months on the shelves and warehouses and prices will come down. I am not ready for this to be the new normal, these prices are complete bullshit. The assholes buying this shit up and ripping people off please stop. Money is not that important. Buy when the shit is cheap and sell for a profit fine, but don't buy just to keep prices high and make a couple bucks. I learned a long time ago this happens every election cycle or two. Always a virus or some other bunch of shit that makes ammo supposedly scarce. In this case just a fuck load of new gun owners.

Lol...

Im buying overpriced stuff. Not a ton, but trying to hedge any possible legislation in the future. I shoot a lot and so do my kids. Id rather pay some more up front to make sure i have enough to keep them training if something ridiculous passes. Im doubt anything will, but like i said im hedging.

LGS can't get hardly anything. They have $1 mill in ammo back ordered right now, and they only generally sell about $250k/yr. They're just hoping to get partial shipments.

They are however holding enough in the back to have 100 rounds go with any gun purchase. If they sell a few guns without ammo it goes on the shelf. Either way it sells for their normal 30% mark-up over their cost.

I’m willing to guess my LGS doesn’t have $1mil tied up in their whole business.

That’s some high stakes game right there.

I have about 4K 9mm, 300 308, 600 6.5 CM and 2k 556 with about 4.5k 22lr. The only thing I shoot is 22lr right now. It’s the only ammo I can find that’s somewhat reasonably priced. I guess I am a ammo hoarder because I don’t want to shoot what I have if I can’t replace it. Someone is buying them because all of the shelves still are empty around here.

I'm good. I'm not paying .98, to over $1 per, for F'n "plinking" ammo. With some management, I'm good. Now what happens in 3 to 4 years, I might be Fuk'd. Mac:unsure:

Its too expensive for me now. And hate to say it, but this is the new normal. Yeah, yeah weve been here before...but admit it, this time it seems different, no?

Might be time for me to fold up / cash out and find a new hobby. I am sure I am not alone...

Eh, they have $6-700k in the store on any given day.

Guns, camo, fishing, bows, clothes.... It adds up in a hurry. When $10-20k goes across the register daily you need stuff on the shelves.

Only gun store in 100 miles may be the biggest selling point.

I have bought a few 120 dollar bricks of .22 since prices rose, but thats about it. Buddy called earlier and said walmart had cci .22 7 dollars a box of 100. Limit 3 boxes. Said they had 270 and 30-06 too.

Admittedly, I have paid inflated prices since they started rising a year ago. I like to keep a minimum of each caliber so if I’m going to the range, I have to buy what I want to shoot. I’ve moved to drills that use low round count, as well as much slower and deliberate target practice. I shoot less than I bring with me so leftovers go in the stash, so the stash grows, albeit slowly. It’s expensive and it sucks but I want to keep shooting.

I remember being pissed that fgmm was 26 a box.

Things have changed and I'm not going to spend 80-100 bucks box.
yeah...I remember the "what??????? 1.30 a round for Lake City? AYFKM? Same with 75/77g match 223. That was in Nov/Dec!!! No sign of let-up on prices; except 380...it's fun to watch. Was $1800 for 1k, now about $1400.....LOL. I have not seen 22LR for less than 16.9 cents a round since last year.

The only ammo I buy is .22 lr for steel challenge and rimfire challenge. I have been lucky enough to pick up a couple of cases in the last month for pre-panic prices. My brother passed away unexpectedly in January. I few days ago I spoke with his widow and told her I would sell all of his factory 9mm for her while the prices are high. I put some regular old 9mm fmj plinking ammo on Gunbroker for her. I hope it goes high as fuck, she needs the money. That's the only good thing about the BS that's going on now.

This ammo shit is crazy, I shoot less now, but I do plan on going to a few shoots this year, I am just not practicing. I know my dope, all my scopes are 'on' and proven true, I am leaving it as is and shooting when I hope to have the most fun with it all

if I run out, I run out

doing most of my casual plinking shooting with 22 as I have been able to find enough of that here and there that I don't worry about it.

don't put car keys in my ears etc....

For me its not sustainable with these prices, regardless of what i may or may not currently have.

Sad.., it may take a while but the new normal ammo prices will put 2A out of reach for many. It is what it is. But it will harm other 2A industries over the long term as well...

Was never a poor mans sport/ hobby, but at 5c per round for 22LR, there was certainly a broader potential market audience.

Now, not so much. Truly a rich man sport...

I'm buying only 5.56 right now. A little 55 gr. FMJ and more 77 grain. It's the only caliber I don't reload for. Occasionally I can catch 55 gr. in the mid $0.60 / round and 77 gr for around $1.10 / round.

I've found my order of degradation (in rate) is handgun, shotgun (skeet/trap), rifle. Handgun skill goes away very quickly for me anyway.

You might reconsider if it goes to $200.

Ive got some nice audio gear for sale...un less like me youve got tinnitus from too much shooting.

As far as loaded ammo goes, I bought 24 rounds of 30-06 black tip, in clips, for about 20 bucks back last fall. That's all the live ammo I've bought. I occasionally buy a box of 1000 9mm plated bullets or .223 FMJBT bullets for reloading, but I'm not paying stupid outrageous prices. I bought 8 pounds of TAC, and 8 pounds of H4350, for $455 delivered back in January. I bought primers last fall at a gun show for $10/1000, while a guy across the room was selling them for $20/100.
That's been the extent of my purchases.

Ammoseek has ammo lower now than it was a few months ago. A trend in the right direction.

Imagine what would happen if an EO comes out banning imported ammo.

We may end up missing the insane prices of today.

Or a ban of online sales.

Eh, there's gun shops everywhere so even if they banned online sales -- which would literally require an act of Congress, both chambers -- I don't think that'd have a huge impact. Hell, it might lower prices as people are less likely to impulse buy thousands of rounds of ammo when they have to get off their asses and go pick it up.

Imports, though, they can do that with just an EO. I don't think it'd hold long term as just a blanket ban -- but it'd just have to hold a few months to have a nasty impact.

I've bought a few boxes here and there, at the regular going rate. I'm setup good enough that I can probably weather this shit storm market. Thanks Army Jerry!

Havent bought ammo in over a year. Even then it was only when Sportsmans warehouse was selling Hornady AG 6.5CM 200rd cases for $149. Guess those are now the "Good Ol Days"

No ammo buying here. 22 is the only thing I don't reload that I've bought in the past 18 months. $30 a brick wasn't great, but I'll tolerate it for one. If I run out of shotshells and I can't get them for under $25/100, I'll just shoot something else.

I stocked up on powder before the election, powder was still mostly normal at that point. I've got some back orders in for stuff at normal (pre-this) prices. Few months in and not expecting them any time soon.

This isn't the new normal, the sky isn't falling. People paying $200+ a brick of primers and telling me I'll be begging them when they're $1/primer are wrong.

Not the first panic for me, not the last either. We certainly had a long period of low prices to stock up. I knew $180/case of 22 was a good buy black friday 2019. Shame on me for not buying two of them.

Sorry to hear about your brother. That's tough, and can appreciate what you must be going through.

Sorry but I have to disagree. Gun shops around me were some of the worse at increasing prices and there aren't enough shops around me to create a competitive market.

Now, that could be because they were getting hit from their distributors or they were buying from other stores and reselling (crappy margins). They could also have followed the laws of supply and demand and hiked them up on purpose. Some gun stores were better than others.

I don't trust the current administration to keep the filibuster so passing something through congress will not present the roadblock it use to.

I do agree that imports will likely get hit for the reason you mentioned.

Only thing I have been busted on was shotshells and steel. Never seen either run low or way overpriced and got caught with my pants down in that arena. Well relatively....we shoot a lot of shotshells so I have more than most but not enough for us to wait out pricing changes.

I think in the very short term you are right. Long term it'd work itself out.

Wal-Mart would quietly start selling ammo again. Then they ban internet gun sales and you'll see a f'kin drive through to buy guns from WM.

Eventually the courts, I believe, would strike down any such ban, though. Hell, it'd probably just strengthen the 2a community -- really in more ways than one.

Kinda hope they do it. I hope they flick so much shit at the wall that SCOTUS can't ignore it. Biden's already taunting them leaking shit like who his next pick will be. I'm sure that piece of shit JR is already lubing his bitch hole for Biden to finger fuck.

God damnit, got in a rant.

I would rather not leave the interpretation of our rights to a bunch of spineless cowards in SCOTUS. They showed their true face during the election. I'm hoping bans don't happen period.
