Everyone should be treated with respect. Especially when they are spending hard earned money. As evidenced by my own feedback, I go out of my way to do so. If I can’t get an item out on the day I promised, I let the buyer know. Without being requested to do so, I’ve issued partial refunds if I’m a day or two late. It’s never about the money, it’s about respect and the people.
This buyer agreed to pay $60.00 for an item. When I let him know the 3% fee had come out of my end of the payment, he told me it was my problem, I wasn’t friends or family and that I didn’t understand how PayPal worked. I told him my understanding of PayPal was fine and offered him a refund. No attitude.
His attitude got progressively worse including resorting to the all caps method and more snide comments. I thought it best to just refund his money and not do the tit for tat thing. I did so and told him I sincerely wished him all the best. Life is too short to lose sleep over a Maxim Pistol Brace.
This was never about the money. I happily paid the 3% on the refund so he would get all $60.00 back. It was about respect, the ability or lack thereof to have a discussion without arrogance and insults, and just being decent. This buyer was unable to do these things and is someone to avoid at all costs.
