I have a Leupold Mark 4 16x40 with the USMC Mil Dot reticle. It was manufactured in 1996. My questions are 1) Was this military issue and , if so, what platform would it be used on? and 2) what is the approximate value of the scope? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

16x40s were issued, but I couldn't tell you if your particular scope was issued. I've seen 16x40s on M24s and M21s.

Value is tough. It's a nostalgia piece. You'd probably be able to get as much for this as you would a 10x40.

I'd give you $850 for the scope and rings.

I recently bought one to stick on my M40A1 replica. It was "A" series made just prior to 1993 per Leupold. Sunshade, caps, rings for $675 shipped. I had read they were used on the Barrett 82A 50cal rifle?
