Is something going on in Ukraine?

I think Mr. Kortik is of Russian birth and raising, so his world view will reflect that. Agreed, opinions are like assholes... everyone has one and they all stink.

I think he was commenting on the video guy but yes by extension would apply to @kortik also.

Kortik knows Communism and has also experienced the American dream.

I understand his Russian patriotism in the sense people here celebrate St Patrick's Day but his sympathies are not with the Commies.

I don't claim to know Russia's history but I know a lot more about it than the average American that knows so little about it they actually make people dumber when they try to speak on it.

#4. Let's not be so naive that the Russian army is not capable of hammering Ukraine into the stone age. Putin hasn't been in a hurry about any part of this invasion. It is likely what is happening is by design and Putin is patiently placing Ukraine in a strangle hold and will seek submission with minimal destruction. We'll check the resolve of the Ukrainians, when their electricity, food and water become scarce.

Russia already killed seven million Ukrainians in the 30s through destruction of their economy.......Putin isn't going to have that anchor cast around his neck again.

Someone lay it out clearly for me-

Is Zelensky the good guy or the Soros/deepstate/corruption installed stooge?

Too many versions to track. I feel it's the latter but don't have the time to cover all the details posted here. And then you hear conservatives like Mark Levin, who I can only stand to listen to for 3 minutes, spout off that Z is such a "good guy".

And yes, I disregard everything including what guys like Levin tell us.

I want a reply to lay it out nice and clean.

He was a comedian....a blank slate.

Either too afraid of what might happen if he tried to clean up his country or tried to be too cute by half and play both sides.

This evil f-ck just needs to die.

Are we really going to sit here and pretend like Putin is the bad guy in all this?

It's a game gentlemen, played by people who like to fuck around with people's lives and geopolitics, in short almost all politicians.

We play our part, they play theirs.

Bottom line. Putin was NEVER going to allow a Ukraine closely aligned with NATO or the west.

We were never going to admit Ukraine to NATO, but we were damn sure happy to screw around in their politics and dangle that carrot, happy to play the game of foreign intrigue, see how far we could push it.

Basically, we fucked around and found out.

Putin needs to die. Just so there is no confusion of who I am speaking of. If you do not know why, I cannot help.
you've said this before, inimating that people have no understanding of what is happening so please, since you apparently know, why is putin bad and zelinsky good? This is the second time I'm asking you to articulate your postion other than, putin bad man

What we are seeing is a weird invasion with one hand tied behind their back, political goals of sparing civilian lives and infrastructure will cost them far more grunts than it would in an unrestricted warfare thing. The last time far less capable force went into Chechnia they razed cities to the ground.

We have seen how cities look when they are taken by force, no matter if precision guided or dumb rounds are used. Grozny or Mosul,at present you hardly see civilian infrastructure damage everything still works downtown Kyiv lit like Christmas tree, electricity, water, rail nothing is out of commission, most damage so far is from stray Ukrainian Sams and shot down planes.

I think Putin lost it , but Zelenski is an absolute fool.

But what is interesting internationally is no one really wants this to end anytime soon, everyone seems to be busy pouring some more gasoline on the fire.

Like it or not i seems that after 2 years of worldwide governmentally induced Covid restrictions and socioeconomic wrecking ball, conditions are ripe for a major war.

here is a thought, Crimeas who ran out their gov't which helped prompt Russias invasion; imagine if they suddenly rise up and start demanding freedom and ties to the west?

I'm ok with the Chechnia operation for obvious reasons:)

Putin did this in winter.
He's probably hoping
1) ground is frozen enough for his heavy equipment to move... tanks... so his tanks aren't restricted to roads.. deep mud is a bitch
2) people need heat in winter. If Putin cuts of the juice, he can press
a) the Ukrainians into freezing and submission
b) Europe into freezing and submission

So my oldest daughter who is 7, is asking about war and why it happens and so forth because of the Ukrainian/Russian ordeal. What would you guys tell her?
7 year old in my family got into a hockey fight with the opposing player because said opponent poke checked her goalie... she won the fight but got a penalty. Those Hapkido lessons are paying off.

Tell her Governments are fighting over control of land and resources. Greedy people try to take things from others. And sometimes you have to fight for whats yours.

Living in Moscow circa 1988 I bought all the little souvenir pins celebrating the Great Patriotic War.

Sure just a few short years before 1941 Russians were starving Ukrainians en mass but once Hitler's Troops decided to treat Ukrainians like untermenscen a beautiful friendship was spawned.

Kiev, Kharkov, The Pripyat Marshes, Crimea, The Dnieper Battles....these were all place names dear to the Russians just as Lexington and Concord to us.

I don't think there is much stomach for laying waste what their grandfathers sacrificed so much to save.

Unlike us they haven't abandoned history to appease community organizers.

Not land and resources, control of people and implementation of feudal society.

While everyone is watching this right hand magic, no one pays attention to the left.

It has erased all other headlines from the radar.

If they keep it going they can keep people from concerning themselves with the ending of the US truck protest.

Somebody here mentioned that I'm pro-russian or something like that, as it supposed to indicate that I'm no good, while others defended me. The simple fact is that russian is my first language and I also understand ukranian. So, I get a lot more accurate info both from russian and ukranian channels on youtube as opposed to the garbage and total lies fed to Americans by idiot box (aka american TV). I perfectly understand what you're saying and I appreciate your desire to have more than one source of information in order to make up your mind.

Right, I'm sure the information you're receiving is 100% accurate with no possibility of being a propaganda filled vomit fest. Fuck off.

i don't think ukraine relies on russian energy, but europe does for sure.
on the other hand, ukraine did cut off crimea's main water supply after it was annexed, which has caused a lot of suffering for them.

Talking today to someone born in Odessa, 13 Russian War Ships including a Nuclear Submarine sit outside the port, a quick lookup, only one ship coming into port today, this is their largest port. If you control their largest Port and control their Skies, it will not be long until they are forced to fold. Thugs of the NWO and Russia, both equally corrupt and no Friend of Freedom or Liberty. I am glad my Father is dead and does not have to see this.

All of it is hegelian dialectic.

Although Putin has his goals, he must play within the lines provided. He is but a figurehead in the grand show.

No one ever follows the money or the wisdom of God. Reject God's wisdom, and He'll let you curse yourself.

Order out of chaos anyone?

i don't think we can assume any of us are being told the complete truth about anything.
how come we didn't know that the ukranian army was killing people in donbass for years, or did everyone else know that already?

100% agree. We are all in the dark.

And Russia built a bridge which I am sure carries a big water main.

I wonder if they studied the effect of fish migration before starting construction.

In MA they want to replace the bridges over the Cape Cod canal, maybe a half mile. It will be ten years before they get off their asses and replace the two behemoths with plaques dating the two years it took to originally build them.

The Ukraine is not about freedom.

Your fathers legacy may actually be being saved.

You should be glad if your father was not alive on November 3, 2020.

We just might see nukes going off if Putin lets one fly. I'm safe because I brought a bunch of old wooden school desks years ago for my basement to crawl under like we did in elementary school during the drills for nuclear war during the 60's.

i’ve been out for 25 years now- so i will be the first one to tell you that my view is a bit dated. with that being said….

the above quote is dumb. i’ve seen a whole lot of dumb; and a lot of it in video form.

even with considering that i’ve been out of the military for since 1994; i could have planned (and executed) a whole lot of what i’ve seen. there are a few possibilities here.
1. russia is inept = and if this is the case, russia just fucked up BIG time.
2. piss poor planning on russia’s part = another disaster for russia.
3. a complete lack of resolve = why even bother if this is the case? which makes me think this possibility is not the case.
4. what we are seeing is a bunch of stuff that is not a realistic representative of what is actually happening. when i see russian paratroopers conducting a mass attack in broad daylight, i about pissed myself laughing. that alone is pure weaksauce and amateur hour. and with all the other fake shit out there, i’m inclined to think that is fake, too.

i am no fan of the ukraine…they are eyeball deep in the corrupt shit that has gone on in this country. and i’ve been hoping Vladmir holds those responsible to account. or at the very least, remove them from power. add to that, soros’s son is backing the ukraine….and THAT tells you EVERYTHING you need to know.

russia has a serious issue if they dont absolutely crush the ukraine. they’ll be viewed as a laughing stock instead of a military might to be feared and respected. IF, and that is a BIG IF, they are this inept, then they’ve been a paper tiger for a long damn time.

either way this cookie crumbles, we are going to learn a lot. i am just hoping the american populace doesnt buy their bullshit and allow us to get sucked into this.

Not sure what is dumb about the quote. Are you referring to the tactic as being effective? Perhaps it is bit silly simple.

As to if they did it? I can appreciate not wanting to spread false information which is why I said I merely read it. However, in the interest of confirming it, I went and found an image of the vehicles on the runway. You'll have to zoom in to see them but they are parked perpendicular down the runway. Just enough to prevent a large transport plane from landing Israeli style. Not enough to stop a determined landing but enough to not make it easy.

Its those little actions like that that can slowly grind an offensive to a crawl. 10-15 minutes of friction adding up across the entire operational planning cycle. These clever little delays start adding up to hours, which quickly turn into days.

All the media attention is on the Kiev offensive, perhaps because its closer to where the western journalists are based.

It is the Mariupol offensive that is really kicking off today that I am most interested in. If they take Mariupol and Berdiansk they link up with the Donbas front.

Will the Crimean units then move northwest to follow the southern side of the Dnieper towards Kiev or will they move north towards Kharkiv to cut off and encircle the more organized Donbas units in the East? Both simultaneously? or something else entirely?

Anyone want to take bets?

Do you remember the excuse for repeal was that CIA was supposedly restricted at broadcasting propaganda on Cuba because folks in Miami might get the same propaganda programs

Flying on Aeroflot, smells like kielbasa and stale fruit, Russian aircraft are designed with pretty hardy landing gear.

I think we took off on inches of ice and it probably had potholes.

I'd be surprised if they couldn't land on the grass assuming it's frozen.

Besides - Air Assault with helos.

Some people used to say the same thing about Saddam Hussein and he wasn’t necessarily a great dude but he did bring some stability to the region. Taking him out caused a vaccuum and like history proves, rarely is what rises in power after better than what preceded it. And they are almost never benevolent people that has everyone else’s best interest in mind. The US was an exception. So, be careful what you wish for. If Putin goes, someone far worse could replace him.
