Manners Composite Stocks Estimated Lead Times

Ordered a TCS 7/6/21, I got an email it was done and ready to ship 2/22/22, settled up 2/23/22 and it showed up today 2/26/22, so just shy of 8 months, except there are some issues...

I'm not going to blow them up just yet, because Manners CS has been great in the past when I've needed it, but a $1668.00 stock shouldn't ship with any issues, let alone more than a few...

I guess I'll see what Manners says... but, the only thing worse than waiting ~8 months for a stock, is having to immediately send it back to be made right after it showed up f'ed up... and then wait some more lol. 🤦‍♂️

What were the problems?

I'm going to keep that under my hat for now, because I believe Manners will take care of it. I suspect if I were to update the thread it'd only be to sing Manners' CS praises...

That said, most of the things that are wrong are hardware-based and could/should have been caught at final assembly before it shipped out (that's also what makes it kind of annoying too).

The finish stuff that I need to ask them about is really only an issue because I already have another TCS to compare it to... and in a way, it's their fault, because if they hadn't made my first one so damn nice, I might not have noticed the difference lol.

I agree with your assertion QC shouldn’t let egregious flaws out the door. Well, honestly, you're probably right, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned anything about the stock not being right without going into detail. And, in hindsight, the thread is supposed to be about lead times, but, with the issues that still need to be addressed on mine, and with my stock having to go back to be corrected, my lead time isn't actually over yet... so, sorry again.

I was not aware that there has been any increase in Manners getting negative feedback, but sadly, as much as I like their stocks, based on my experience, I'm not too surprised. Their record is 2 for 2 with me (which isn't good) in that the first TCS that I bought "off the rack" from GA Precision needed to go back to have some flaws corrected, and now the one I custom ordered ~8 months ago has to go back to be made right too.

With my first stock, the turnaround was only a week or so in order for them to get it squared away and get it back to me (pretty fast), which is why I'm trying to refrain from putting them on blast just yet (because I'm confident they'll come through again). But yeah, the fact that 2 out 2 of their stocks in my case have had issues that should've been caught and dealt with before they went out into the world has indeed pissed me off a bit to where, while I'm not willing to go into details just yet, it did bring me to mention it and put it out there...
 
PRS-1T ordered June 3,2021. All the fixin's.

Saw Brantley at a match two weekends after placing the order, and after discussing what I was hoping for and how I'd ordered, he advised me to change the order to the TCS. He should know. So I did, via phone and email June 26.

I reached out the Tuesday right after SHOT for an update, and was told that they had mistakenly made the wrong color. They couldn't say when it would be completed as ordered. Ouch. I was offered one that was complete in Midnight. It wasn't what I ordered, but I didn't want to wait any longer, and I was assured Manners would make it right. Thing is, I still don't know what that means. Admittedly though, that's my fault. I never forced the issue, and the full invoice price was paid prior to shipment.

Stock Arrived February 22, 2022.

I have to say everything conisdered, I am glad I chose a Manners. Even the color is growing on me rather quickly. Now to fit it to myself better and get it right.
 
I imagine, like pretty much every other business including mine over the last 2 years, that staffing has been a nightmare. I'm willing to bet that's the problem, and won't be surprised one bit if that's what they tell me.

They do make a great product, which is why we order them even though they're pricey and take forever a really long time, so it is a huge bummer when it finally shows up and doesn't look like it's supposed to.

In my case it pretty much ruined the last weekend I'll have to shoot for a while (work is getting crazy). But, at least I did learn something new and valuable: never pull your perfectly zeroed and setup barreled action out of the stock it's already happy in, before you're 100% sure the new stock it's going into is completely right (especially if you plan on zeroing/shooting it that weekend too). 🤦‍♂️lol

4th custom ordered stock for me, and 2 sent for modifications long after original orders. I have not had any issues and fit and finish is outstanding. Certainly not taking anything away from any issues the former posters may have had recently, just wanted to say I have nothing but positives to say about quality and experience of most recent and previous purchases.

Now I also see that Sportsman's Finest has posted up a thread today saying they got a shipment of 20(?) TCSs in and I guess I shouldn't be holding my breath. I'm starting to reconsider whether I should be looking at in-stock Foundation stocks.

They're on it... Tom M. himself called/texted me and is/was personally making sure things were made right... pretty sure customer service doesn't get better than that!

Mine was getting resprayed Tuesday I think, so it should be shipped back to me anytime now (hopefully today, which would equal a little over a week back and forth). Talking to him, I was able to convey that while my finish wasn't bad and I was being a bit of a "Karen", my other one looks like it was dipped in glass... he decided he'd personally take a look at it and get it resprayed for me if he thought it could be better (I think he knew what I meant), which is super cool, I think most companies would've probably said "this thing looks great, fuck that guy" lol!

Seems the issue with my stock showing up with the wrong rail (the biggest gripe I had) has to do with Manners changing some options around to streamline their orders since I'd ordered mine, seems not very many guys have been ordering the heavier steel/steel rail as compared to the aluminum/brass 419 rail (which I dislike)... so sounds like they're currently on the fence about whether they're going to continue using/stocking the steel/steel rails and it's no longer an option in the "Stock Builder" on their site. Tom had one of the steel/steel rails kicking around his workbench, so I may be getting one of the last ones, IDK?

Personally, after using both types, I have no idea why anyone would pick the aluminum/brass rail over the steel/steel rail... I kind of have the feeling it has more to do with the "bling factor" of the aluminum/brass rails being branded Area419 and having the gimmicky (IMO) sawtooth pattern along the rail, or maybe just the fact that you see more of that type. The steel/steel rail ends up 10oz or more heavier than the 419 rail, which puts my rig at a "goldilocks for me" 23lbs, I didn't want to change anything...

That said, I doubt most guys give a shit about 10oz either way as much as this OCD idiot does lol!

So, the moral of the story is I guess, hang in there, in the end, they'll make sure you're happy.
 
Tom is a hell of a good dude. I bought a stock from a 3rd party that was incorrect. Tom took care of me even calling and texting from his personal cell. This was all during shot. Super good dude!

Finally found one that fit the bill in their 'in stock' store. Couldn't wait to get home this week and open the box! The excitement quickly vanished as I opened it to find someone else's stock... Waiting to hear back from them now. Let me know if you also happened to get the wrong stock this week.

My stock came with the arca rail on the end of the forend, instead of by the bottom metal, and the sling studs were missing. I had to send it back for them to fix. It was clearly stated on the order where to put the arca rail. Jim apologized profusely and seemed frustrated on his end but is making it right.

I was quoted 5mo lead time when I ordered the stock and it took 11mo. But, I did get one of the last Elite Artic finished tikka stocks that will ever be made. Hopefully I enjoy it over the krg’s I have.

Jim has been great at customer service.

I am over 10 months after a 6 month promise time on a custom for one of the Junior girls I am helping out. Goal post moved multiple times, lied to in no less than 4 emails and at least 3 phone calls. was last told it was done 2 weeks ago, never got shipping. Called today and was told it is not done yet! I am done with Manners

My TCS was ordered in May and was told January but got told today they are waiting for the cheek piece hardware to finish so supply line interruptions are happening in all fields now. Would I like it today? Sure but nothing can be done so just have to wait. I know it will be well worth the wait but I know the wait sucks too so I empathize.

I hear that. I broke down and bought another TCS that somebody must not have paid for. I pray that I will be able to afford the other one when it is finished 😅

Ordered a CS2 on 11/15. Received invoice and paid towards end of Feb. Just landed on my doorstep this afternoon. Not too bad of a wait!

Thanks! I’m not 100% positive on the exact bottom metal but I know Badger makes it for Manners. I’m a huge fan- I’ve got three of their stocks with the Gen 2 mini chassis. I think you’ll enjoy it!

I was told arctic camo was d/c'd due to sourcing the white carbon. Such an awesome finish to lose, anyone else want to see them bring that back?
I’m glad I ordered a LRH in artic before they discontinued them. It goes great with my bartlien white CF barrel.
I ordered it on the first day they started taking orders (April’ish of 21) and didn’t receive it till December of 21.

Yeah that rigs looks totally awesome and very close to what I was planning to build. BUT now Cov-Aids or for whatever reason no more badass white carbon. :mad:
 
Some of these items were all after can really test a man’s patience. I have two lrh on order, krieger, and paper form 4s in jail. Just so much waiting and I don’t even want white carbon 😂

I have purchased four Manners stocks through one of there sales agents (Kanseal). Service was outstanding from Ryan. The last stock was a LRH. I was ready for another LRH and went to Manner's website yesterday. There were ten or twelve in the "in-stock store". I phoned Manners and got a return call from Jim within one hour. He said all of the LHR stocks listed on the site Wednesday AM were sold, but more would be added today. I phoned today and the exact stock I wanted was in stock. Jim helped me with the order (I was on the road traveling this morning) and the stock will ship out today. What wonderful customer service. Thank you Manners.
 
UPDATE- UPS tracking shows the Manners stock that I ordered on Thursday 4/28/22 will be delivered by Monday 5/2/22. WOW
I am just an ordinary guy that did not get special treatment, but I do feel special after such a great experience.

These wait times are insane... Ordered close to 10 months ago and have received multiple McMillans in the same time. Was called four months ago and told it was about 2 weeks out, so I paid and settled up and here we are four months later. Pretty crummy.
 
Wow, I want a tcs but dang. The wait time In general doesn’t bother me as much as the wait time after payment, payment call and 2 weeks to turn into 4 months would have me mad.

Guys you got to think about supply chain and especially all the parts that go into a TCS. Believe me they are well worth the wait. After getting my first I ordered another. Lol Manners are popular for a reason.
 
They are for sure worth the wait time. No doubt about it.

I have many manners on order Due Later August through October. Of course that's a floating date. About 100 stocks. So if guys are looking and want the wait cut down shoot me a PM I can get some of you on a list. Mostly the LRH stocks M5 Mini chassis in both SA and LA. Some EH1As, PRS1s, etc.

I love my PRS1 being used with my RimX. Just ordered a compact stock for a shorty 6.5 CM. I would love to do two TCS stocks for my two Tikka rifles but as of now that does not look like an option. Maybe some day.
 
Did you look on Manners site? They have a shop as well that has some available just depends on what you are looking for or your particular needs.
 
Yeah, I bought one from their ready to go shop a few months ago. I'm just looking for places to keep checking to see if I can get lucky and pick one up a lot sooner than the 6-10 month wait to place an order. I'm not picky about color, just looking for a T2A or preferably a T2A GAP if possible, I have three of those and want to get a matching one for the current barreled action I just had built. I have notification set up at Altus, just hoping for other places to keep checking.

Stock is a LRH in high plains camo. Yes I know they have them in stock, but I ordered mine with 95% paint as I hate black stocks. Open it up just to find that my stock is 60% black!!!

Emailed manners and received a fast response. I decided to call them. My options are send it in (I HAD TO PAY SHIPPING) and they can paint it or WAIT HOWEVER LONG for them to remake it because the paint is molded in the stock. In the past I have called them a couple times before to see if I can just order one from the website and add paint the answer was always a solid NO!!!! So I guess when they mess up an order they can just add paint 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️.

So now that they have given me a choice of paint or wait I decided to take their advice and NOT to add paint and have a new stock made the way I ordered it. I just hope that they put my order well “REORDER” in front of the line.

I have 3 more stocks on order with 95% paint. Hopefully they get them right.

Please Manners do me right and put this remake to the front of the line.

I think the right way to order a Manners is to find something acceptable that’s in stock as a finished stock or as a flat top stock that isn’t inletted, or find something used even if it’s bedded.

Has anyone ever seen a lefty LRH in stock on the Manners website or at Altus, etc? Thinking I should go ahead and order one but sure as I do a unicorn LH LRH will magically appear in stock somewhere.

Well considering I could go on the website and buy the Exact same LRH that I received (not what I ordered) now and it will be at my door step by Friday yes the wait time sucks 🤷🏻🤷🏻. BUT to now have to do the 6 month wait time twice for the same stock because someone didn’t read the order correctly yes the wait time now is really rough🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️.

But knowing Manners there’s not a doubt in my mind that they will take care of it.
