The Terminal List

I've read the first four books, and need to buy number 5. Awesome books.

I don't have Prime, so I'm gonna miss out.

The whole series is good with the exception of the last book. I didn't enjoy it as much. Overall...solid reads. Hope the show doesn't suck balls.

Although I'm a bit disappointed with the content of this post. After reading the title, I thought you were going a different direction...

Good books. The first one is especially good. Lots of interesting mystery to it.

As the series has evolved it has taken on a little more of a Mack Bolan Violence porn feel. Just some of the things get pretty outrageous that the main character does. But still a fun set of books and I enjoyed them all! Have not got the latest one, though.

But definitely a good read. I am somewhat looking forward to the series but Hollywood can screw up anything.

If you like Jack Carr check out James Stejskal’s Snake Eater Chronicles series. Starting with A Question of Time. And Appointment in Teheran is amazing. These books are all based on real “stuff” from his years in Det. A, Berlin.

Actually you’re not far off of what the first book is about. But I don’t wanna give it away.

Available now on prime. Haven't read it. Saw it on prime and figured I would search here for opinions first.

Amazon fucked up another one.
Really? That is pretty disappointing. I mean I was expecting them to botch it mostly, but since Jack Carr was on set the whole time and part of everything I was really hoping it would get saved. It is frustrating how they can botch a book like this that is so descriptive, or like one of Tom Clancy's where the only detail left out is what kind of socks and underwear the director should wear when making the movie...
I agree with Sirhr though, they are kind of turning a bit Mack Bolan with pages worth of description of terminal ballistic effects on squishy bits. But Mr. Carr is still writing a good read, and enjoying this phase of his life pursuing a dream so hats off to him for that!
Still apprehensively looking forward to the show...

If you have read the book it will become clear why I said what I did. If you haven't, it won't.
Artistic license is getting stretched to it's limit in my opinion.

i watched a couple episodes. will watch more now that the stage has been set.
didn't read the books so can't judge on that.

I am prepared to be underwhelmed. No way they can do the books justice on Amazon. This is my favorite series of books. All 5 are great.

The books are ok but they felt like a big advertisement for all the bro vet tactical companies
I have had this feeling with just about everything lately. Including this site. But I guess business is business. Dude-bro everything. Right up there with flat bill hats, Affliction/Tap out t shirts and diesel trucks. I just can’t take it anymore.

Even diesel trucks, dude? Bro, what if ya gotta pull something heavy?

I've read all but the latest book... so I know how it 'turns out.' Which is why I am having a hard time with the opening two episodes.

For one, the screen is literally so dark I can't see it. And knowing what's coming next, I am finding the 'slow buildup' sort of boring and I find myself drifting off and then coming back and saying to myself "Oh, yeah, that's where we are."

There are differences. And am hoping that after two episodes it picks up.

I suspect that if you have not read Carr's books, this is a much better series. Antoine Fuqua did Tear of of the Sun and, I think, Training Day? Two really good movies. And Shooter, which we all laugh about. Nowhere near as good as the book.

But so far, not disappointed. Certainly not bailing on it.

BTW, whoever decided that a Resco Patriot goes "Beep Beep" needs kicked in the nuts.

Cheers,

Sirhr

I’m through episode 4. The books aren’t that great honestly. They are entertaining and that’s about it. The dried is the same but the series so far is worse than the books which isn’t out of the ordinary

It is kind of strange that Katie is chinese in the series. The books make a huge deal about her being blonde and of eastern European descent.

Just binge watched it … well most of it last night, then the last episode today.

Not great, but very good; definitely worth a watch. A lot of suspension of disbelief, but very entertaining...kind of like what would happen if ‘Shooter’ and ‘Lone Survivor’ had a baby, only better.

edit: cool land cruiser, really makes me miss my old FJ40. I wonder if it’s the same one that was in Tread, or Recoil, or one of the dude-bro mags last year.

Yes! I thought the exact same thing.
Gotta keep it relevant to today’s threat on the horizon. I can forsee a season where we find out Katie’s dad is still alive and being held in a Chinese/North Korean slave labor camp and they work together to save him.

And win a Pulitzer prize doing it of course.

Science.

This is true. I blame social media. You can't just go out and do something with buddies (well, I do) without broadcasting it throughout the innerwebs to demonstrate your general awesomeness. Seems like there is an impromptu camera crew at about every shoot I go to these days that are documenting it for the purposes of putting it on social media. The bro-chacho hunting scene where I live in SW MT is fucking out of control. Between the apparel companies, backpack makers, tent makers, etc, it is a full blown shit show.

I saw glimpses of this on "Terminal List". Sitka, Yeti, etc. They glorify all the shit I have done since I was a kid. Yeah, I bow hunt. Yeah, I rifle hunt. So do all my friends, just because that is what their dads did.

The series was okay, Chris Pratt seems a little out of place not playing his usual character, but you get used to it. I watched a few episodes and while I haven't read the books, I don't think they could have possibly butchered it any worse than they did "Without Remorse".

yeah, if you aren't playing close attention to the ambush in the beginning (during the dark portions) you may be swayed early on into believing that he has lost his mind, but it changes in episode 3...

although i can't compare to the books, i think it is folly to expect film (produced by anyone) can compare to the detail in a book or books.
i have yet to see any production on film that is as good as the book(s).

I fear we are headed to an evolutionary fork in the road of Humanity. A fork where our choices will be either becoming Mack Bolan or Richard Simmons. :);)

Thought it was good, not great. I haven’t read the book so there’s no expectation to compare against. It started off a bit slow but managed to keep me sucked in until the end. Some things were definitely overdone and the bro dude thing is somewhat annoying - but I honestly blame BRCC for that as my patience is worn thin on the overuse of my sense of patriotism being used as a marketing scheme…

Worth watching but just like everything Hollywood don’t think too hard about it or pay too close attention to the details as they don’t ever get the details right.

I am going to bet it's that same troglodite who makes someone in all the movies look through a Walmart pair of barska old military style binoculars and see constant scanning range, bearing, star alignment, fart density, and a dozen other doo-dads flickering all over. I believe him to also have been behind making every optic on the series "The Unit" to have a Sheppard reticle in it, even the pistol scope on the suppressed 22. Semi.
He is remorseless...

I actually just started reading the series about a month ago (just finshed book 2), so was excited to see that were making a series. After seeing the hack job they did on "without remorse', I was hoping for the best while expecting the worst. So far after the first 4 episodes, it's about what I expected... could have been better, but defintely could have been worse.. As someone else metioned, having recently read a couple of books it was hard to stay focused while they set the stage. Not un-entertaining, but probably better if you have't read the books. Especially "the rat"...

I haven’t read the books but have been excited for the series as I have a friend that is very close to Carr. I finished the series this morning and thought it was pretty dang good, personally. And there is some meaning in some of this if you look for it. Now I will admit I thought the first episode kind of sucked and almost turned it off then but I’m glad I continued on. It’s by far the best series I have seen in a long time and is refreshing after seeing the majority of stuff out these days is typically some woke shit.

Was a bit disappointed in the production of the first episode. Every scene was too dark and blurry and the dialogue was garbled. Couldn't focus on anything else... OCD I guess

Why is it so commonplace these days to film shows so fucking dark you literally can't see what's going on on screen.

I had to change the picture settings on my tv to help with the hark picture. Only watched the first two episodes so far, but I am enjoying it.

Never read the book.

Show was entertaining.

Holy logo placement though, Batman
I’m a few episodes in. Land Cruiser, BRCC just a few really stupid obvious ones. I’ll keep an eye out for more, it’s late so I’m sure I’m missing other obvious ones.

i almost think it was on purpose, so that your recollection of events weren't as clear as they could have been, which made me wonder if dude was messed up in the head. i didn't go back and watch it again to see how it went down.

Watched the first episode last night, thought it was good, entertaining. I don't read to much into show's and movies, just want to be entertained, I don't look for politics or anything like that. Just entertain me and I'll watch.

Just got this from Amazon..

Amazon Groups are currently seeking to employ individual’s Nationwide, Regular citizens, Professional drivers to go about their normal routine as they usually do, only with a small advert for "Amazon" plastered on your Vehicle/Bike/Car/Truck. The advertisements are typically vinyl decals that almost seem to be painted on the vehicle, and which will cover a small portion of the exterior surface. You will be compensated with $700 per week which is essentially a "RENTAL" payment for letting the company use the space & no fee is required from you. Amazon shall provide specialists that will handle the advert placing on your car. You will receive an up front payment inform of check via courier service for accepting to carry this advert on your vehicle. Kindly get back to us with the below informations if you're interested; Full Name to be written on the check: Full mailing Address, City, State, Zip Code: Cell phone(for texting only): Contact E-mail address and Maker of your ride/year .

My response...
Gasoline is too expensive so I have to ride a kids sized bike, with no advertising space available because the person claiming to be president is trying to ruin this country.
And the fact that Amazon is jumping on board with all the woke crap, does not help your situation. And you wonder why your numbers are down. Idiots.

Read all 5 of the books. Agree the last one wasn’t that great. The show is good but books are a lot better. The Asian Katie was weird. The plot Is not the same though they tried to keep most of it. Im through 4 ep so far. It’s better than most of if not all other Amazon.
