Is something going on in Ukraine?

Who knows, In any case Ukraine holds something only couple % of the turf ,something like 2km2 of Bakhmut so to walk away and let others take the remaining quarters would be unusual unless the grievances are true. Note that they also canceled Wagner's access to prisoner recruiting already months ago. More likely than not Military is getting feed up with PMC publicity , when boss man goes on telegram literaly standing among bodybags and says he lost 1000 soldiers in a month , while fat cats at MOD prance around ,denying them shells. You can imagine the public outcry that generates. Wagner is noted for being even more artillery intensive than the army.

The Washington Post releases new documents from US intelligence leaks. They concern the conflict between Prigozhin and the Russian Ministry of Defense, which escalated again.

The leaks date back to February when Wagner's handler had already started blaming the military for a shortage of ammunition for his PMC. Data was obtained through wiretapping and message interception.

The documents show that "the Russian military leadership was frustrated by Prigozhin's harsh public attacks and discussed how to suppress his criticism."

Also, officials of the Russian Defense Ministry "were not sure that it was possible to successfully wage an information war against Prigozhin if the government did not prohibit him from making public statements."

CIA military sources in Russia "couldn't say unequivocally" whether Wagner received ammunition because it was not distributed directly from the ministry but through a task force in Bakhmut. At the same time, the sources admitted that "Prigozhin's statements may be true."

One of the documents for February 12 stated that the head of the General Staff Gerasimov "ordered to stop the supply of ammunition, as well as military transport flights intended for the transport of ammunition" to the Rostov headquarters of the PMC (we note that on February 23, Prigozhin announced that the problem had been resolved and the shipment of shells for Wagner resumed).

After Prigozhin's public claims, he was summoned to a meeting with Putin and Shoigu on February 22. The day before, the curator of the PMC asked the President of Russia to allow him to continue recruiting from prisons, to train the mobilized and recruit foreigners, in particular, Afghans, into Wagner.

But Putin essentially refused. "The document, citing FSB interceptions, says that Putin ordered Prigozhin to resolve these issues with the Ministry of Defense taking the side of his generals and not Chief Wagner," the publication reports.

Another reason why I want only one USMilitary and the elimination of "contractor" services.

If the US goes to war declare it.

Mobilize.

Destroy.

Russia hoped to avoid accountability with Wagner and as Wagner can't live up to its agreements it becomes a mess.

Russia would have been better with a mobilization , mass attack, quick end, this should have been history 7 months ago.

It will end the same way just now with more death and political baggage.

If you are fighting other than to crush the opposition you are giving the other side time and opportunity.

I'm not defending what he did with respect to the bump stocks but listen to what he says about the NRA. They are the root cause of this nonsense. They gave him the green light and practically pushed him in the direction of the ban.

They (cnn)don't grasp the fact that some people don't support either side, and just want to see the fighting stopped.
That hack interviewer wanted to hear him say he wants Russia to win the war. But he gave what I consider to be the correct answer.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky is visiting Rome, where he will meet political leaders and have an audience with Pope Francis.
"An important visit for approaching victory of Ukraine!" he tweeted as he landed in the Italian capital.
He will meet Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella and head for the Vatican later on Saturday.

And nobody could put a reticle on Putin today for the 9 May celebrations? I'm guessing security was ultra-tight out to 2 KM or so. And air defenses were turned-up to 11. Would have been spectacular...
John McCain? I thought you were dead and burning in hell right now.

Has Georgia Meloni done anything or has she been a dud?

Her one talking point weakness when she was a thing was her support for Ukraine so that has been known.

So he kicks out the Orthodox Church, which is conservative and then goes to see the Pope to get his help? I can’t be the only one that sees clearly who is aligned with whom, physically and importantly, spiritually.

молниеносная война

Russia keeps blowing up the ammo we are sending. They'll never get that spring offensive started.

Second one appears to have some CGI.

Thinking of blasts the ones the Marines created by using a satchel charge on cave they didn’t know held Japanese torpedos on Roi island was a doozy.

Sadly those dudes didn’t get a chance to learn from the mistake but they sure never repeated it.

The only thing coming out of this is dead soldiers, rich politicians, and poor taxpayers.
....and apparently a fair number of dead civilians as well.

I find it interesting that Wagner threatens to withdraw due to low ammunition supplies and within a couple days says it got the ammunition it needed so it's on like Donkey Kong. Now Wagner says the Russians are fleeing apparently fearing that the counter offensive is beginning but more likely because they are conscripts and because "guess where Russia got the ammunition for Wagner".

Round and round and round it goes. Where it stops? Nobody knows.....

That thing in a video looks like it should be very economical to manufacture:

If Russia can quickly launch mass production of these things, it may likely make a serious difference on the tactical level.
BTW, "Privet" in Russian is used to say either "Hello" or "Good bye".

Should come with a Borka to make sure everything is in torque specs.

You have another leader who is forcing abortion down Americans throats (allowing pro-Life groups to be terrorized too - Jane's Revenge is the epitome of domestic terrorism) and yet he was still welcomed by the Pope. That says alot about this Pope.

This goes into a series of thought processes, but a main factor becomes how cheaply one can stop an enemy threat. It appears that Russia and its allies are using the Ukraine conflict as R&D, same as we are.

somebody claims to know what blew up...misinformation?

According to the locals:

"The Khmelnytskyi Oblast Military Administration confirmed on Telegram that "critical infrastructure" had been hit in the attack on Friday night."

And the Russian's perspective on the same event:
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the attack had destroyed an ammunition depot and hangar at the Starokostiantyniv airbase in Khmelnytskyi, per Sky News.

That Strike was about 400miles from Crimea. I wonder where it was launched from

🇷🇺🇺🇦.It is worth noting that panic reports are spreading in Ukrainian social networks that during the detonation of an ammunition depot in Khmelnytsky, a large batch of British tank ammunition with depleted uranium, which was recently brought to Ukraine along with Storm Shadow missiles, was also destroyed. As a result of a huge explosion, particles of depleted uranium could be dispersed on the territory of the Khmelnytsky region, which, taking into account the experience of Yugoslavia and Iraq, could lead to an outbreak of cancer in the medium term.
There are already reports that the radiation background has allegedly increased in Khmelnitsky. Let's wait for actual confirmation.

There are several angles of that explosion. It looks real.

There were two explosions, the 2nd one at the 17 second point in the video..

My best guess would be a couple KH22 Kitchen missiles. it has the range, speed and a 2200lb warhead. They're big enough to knock a lung loose, and easily could have been launched from a Tu22, Tu95 or Tu160, over Belarus. A Tu22 Backfire can carry two, and the missiles could have been dropped while the plane was still over Belarus, and easily reach anywhere in Ukraine.

According to the article linked above, Ukrainian officials claimed it was a drone strike. More likely, drones were to help confuse air defenses and a couple KH22's snuck through the ruckus.

It also makes sense, in the context that a couple days ago the Poles claimed to have found some KH22 wreckage in a forest in Poland. Indicating that the KH22 is being put in service to fuck shit up in Ukraine. When one gets shot down, the wreckage can travel a long way since the missiles max ordinate tops out at about 75,000 feet.
