Reminds me of the story of the blind guy with an incredible sense of smell. He was able to identify any piece of wood just by sniffing it.
So one night in a bar these guys try to test him out and put a board in front of him. He gives it a sniff and says āpine.ā
So they try something a little harder, put another piece of wood in front of him and he gives it a sniff and says āblack walnut.ā
Thinking this time theyāll get him the put a really exotic piece of hardwood in front of him and he gives it a sniff, and says āGoncalo Alvezā.
Now theyāre really going to stump them so they have the barmaid come over and she lies down on the table and he goes over and gives a sniff and says he canāt quite identify that. But would they turn it over. So they have the barmaid turnover.
Old guy gives another sniff and says āI canāt tell you what kind of wood it is, but I can tell you what it was used for.ā
āIt was the shit house door on a tuna fishing boat.ā

Aint that the truth. I have a lot of stories about McAfee. It's worse than useless.
I had a client with an emerging crypto lock attack that was still in the lateral movement phase - whose CSO claimed that McAfee on all their machines would stop it.
At that moment the CFO came in and said all their servers with McAfee with their finance stuff on them went down.
We did a white hat hack to get something better on all their employees machines and then told McAfee about the bad actor's software as a way to find any machines we missed.
McAfee reacted and pushed an update that night.
The next day a few users called in to say they had the "malware found" message.
That day the CSO claimed that McAfee had detected the attack after all.
One of the post-mortem ironies is that McAfee was such a dog that the users machines were already so slow due to it - that the crypto SW couldn't run very well and many of the dev staff detected it and killed it to be able to work.
MS Defender or Crowdstrike are far better.
